Guess what people, BATMAN ACTUALLY DOES HAVE DOUBLE JOINTED KNEES! I suck so bad for missing that. They were hidden and stiff so I missed them. Sorry about missing that fact.

I think they picked Gotham By Gaslight so they could tie in with the recent animated movie but because it's Mattel the figure kept getting delayed. The same thing happened with the Flashpoint Aquaman they announced, they said it was originally supposed to come out alongside the movie next month but it now they're trying to release it next to the Aquaman Bluray/DVD release

Glad to see mattel is stepping up their game, I specially like the head sculpt, reminds me of an Alex Ross Batman

He looks great! Little black dry brush and I'd probably try and adjust those ears they aren't sharp enough for me 😂 And he would be perfect!

Even though I already have several Batman figures, I picked this up recently because the animated movie piqued my interest in the story, and this figure was warming the peg at my local Target for many weeks. I've passed on getting most new Batman figures because I've come to realize that there's very little difference between most of them aside for the aesthetic details like the varying bat insignia designs on his chest or the type of utility belt he wears. But I felt this figure was just different and unique enough to add to my collection with its duster coat-style high collar and cape and the added bonus of removable knives that actually fit in his utility belt.

It's a cool figure. Managed to score this wave almost two months ago. I think the lady stocking the shelves wasn't paying attention to the do not stock before date label on the Mattel shipping box. Only nitpick I have for this figure is its ears but I understand them being as thick and blunt as they are since this is aimed at small children just as much as its aimed at collectors.i have yards of a similar to but higher quality material used for the cape that I use for hot toys and mezco figs so I made a longer,wider one with wires and it really makes a world of difference.I'll probably take an exacto to the ears eventually when I can score another one just in case I make a wrong move. Mattel have really stepped their game up with their multiverse figures, even the movie waves(aquaman) for the most part. There's only one or two complete misfires in each wave now,it doesn't take many to build their collect and connects(bafs), they're top notch(the cnc's) and the figures are cheap at $16.99(at least at Walmart)

I just got this in the mail today and really like it, I wish the cape could rap around like an actual cloak but they rarely do that with any of the figures, surprisingly the Alot of the Kenner figures from the 90s had cloth capes that could hang over the shoulders. I haven't taken the knives out yet since there a but stuck from being in the box for a few years. It seems to fit in scale with my McFarland flashpoint Batman just alittle less detail, eventhough Mattel dc multiverse was more expensive.

I just opened my set and I'm happy to say that I didn't have any of the QC problems you encountered. On any of mine. The only thing that I don't like is the seams on the front and back of the thighs, I guess is a compromise for not having pins and piholes on the sides

Great review Brad, I think this looks really cool, maybe this is the figure that gets me collecting multiverse? I would of liked the stitching on the cowl to be a bit more defined and the figure as a whole to look a little more dirty, dusty Cape etc but other than that I am leaning towards a buy 😁 Do you think you will do any work to this one dude?

Gotham by Gaslight was the precursor to the Elseworlds story collections. It originally did not have the Elseworlds logo.

Imo the only batman figure mattel got right. No odd crotch, sculpting all makes sense, good enough fabric for the cape, hands make sense. The only 2 nitpicks I have would be the blunt tipped ears but that's a legal thing they have to do and the flesh tone. Both easy enough fixes. I'm not surprised the same guy behind the ray figure was behind this one because that figure was perfectly executed and a strong reminder that this line was extremely mishandled for years and with people like him in charge it couldve easily been competitive with marvel legends but everything works out for a reason and the silver lining is they would've never been as good as McFarlanes stuff which people unfamiliar with his legacy in the adult collectible/figure world are starting to get a taste of now that he's actually up and running and past the initial test offering phase. Anyone that was concerned should be at ease after getting the white knight wave as each figure in it is a homerun and utilizes things you don't see in anything but higher end figures. He's not playing catch up with hasbro, he's making things in a way you don't see on figures below the 60 dollar mark and offering them for less than 20. Wait until people see the figures from the metals wave coming up. Seeing a massive figure like the devastator/(batman)doomsday that looks like something you would be waiting on storm to release for somewhere North of 80 bucks on a shelf for 20 and right next to it another boring marvel legend for the same price.

I don't really mind the lack of double jointed knees in this case, I feel lke the boots would just get in the way, anyhow. He's a big Batman, and I love that Lex head. On that New 52 Batman, is that a Knight Missions head I spy? Or am I off the mark? heh.

I want this is looks amazing I just wish they went with a plastic cape and double jointed knees. I just when they make a modern day Batman they don’t use cloth and give him the double jointed knees.

The cape worries me. Heat and time messes up that kind of material...

Looks good, no doubt Mattel is making an effort to get better at this level. The ab crunch totally ruins the stetics of the figure.

I love alot of these but wish they would get single releases without BAF parts aswell, as I rarely like the BAF let alone everyone in a series. Have the same issue with Marvel Legends.

Also I think it's a great figure despite it not having all the articulation people want (me including since I would love it having double jointed arms and legs) still it's a cool pick up for any Batman fan or DC fan. Also question Brad what type of camera you use? I ask since I did my first figure review on my KZfaq channel called Shootinstar94 and would like to invest in a good camera to record high quality videos.

You cannot move the arms because of the cape piece? Rather than sacrifice an important point of articulation, they could have have went cloth goods all the way for the cape instead. No upper arm articulation is a deal breaker for me.
