This is a very smart tactic and how I recommend others do it too! Great idea man! By the time you drop the second one you can fly back towards the first drop cus they will almost be all done with their mission.

Maybe this has changed recently as I’ve been using recon for the last few days and the targets have appeared before I picked up the troops. Also got the message in the top right hand saying what they had discovered.

Thank you! Yeah I think they believe it’s too OP but really no one knows for sure how it would play because it has never been tried. I think a fair way to do it if that is the biggest worry is to make Hip recon like that in jets where you must return your recon troops to the base for the recon to count. That would make one recon effectively take 30 minutes or so in total for most farp to front flights and back.

​@@ryu1940 I flew the Hip yesterday and I really think it would be OP with recons. Erased 3 sectors on my own with a little luck with troop placement. 12 Troops are definetly enough

You could actually change it. I’ve used NM in the past but now my F10 is set up to show KM.

I’m not sure actually. I don’t think there is an impactful difference whether you die with them onboard or not. Airframes have an attrition value that applies to the side but I don’t know if additional ground attrition is applied to the soldiers you carry.

I love using it for tutorials. Really has the let’s jump into it vibe lol

You miscalculate, they run 4km to the target AND 4km back so the little buggers are actually breaking into triple figures.

That’s generally what I’ve been going back and forth between. I like the 2/2 combo incase someone starts doing recon I can go after infrastructure and since I mostly go after one camp at a time the 8 standard troops is always enough to wipe an enemy camp out in one go.

Thank you! 1: you can land right on the oil rig or touch the water in a hover and they will come out. I have a video on my channel showing an oil rig attack. #2 I am not sure if attrition of ground troops is factored into the side points calculations.

Oh nice picking up the Gaz. I am not sure if it still not allowed or not as I haven’t flown in a couple months but there was a sentiment if the FM of the missile was fixed they would add it back in. I know the Gaz has had some work done so I wonder if the missile was updated and made suitable to work on the server now.

I've been going solo in mi-8 and it's been fun. Doing drops into enemy airfields has been exciting because you have to sneak past all enemy players and air defense, I'll literally be shaking while doing the handing because of how tense it is.

It’s fun. I actually prefer flying the Hip by myself. Of course until they get multicrew added for it. The Hip surviving depends on not being detected and if there are a few of you flying close together the odds of detection go up. I think two separate hips would be good for attacking an airbase or a factor. You could work together to take down the air defense then attack together. But I always fly alone haha

@@akihikotanakashi6392do you normally destroy the air defenses first or just sneak by?

@@TheCth777 I generally try to take them out. It's possible to avoid them if you fly low enough but taking them out helps your team in the area too.

Excellent question. If no recon is done and you don’t see orange circles on the F10 map indicating the location of enemy troops you won’t really know. You’ll have to just visually spot them on the front line and take a guess as to how many are in the area when you drop your troops. I usually always drop two standard squads and iirc that is usually enough to destroy one full group. It’s possible if another group is nearby you may kill from the two different groups so the groups will still have remaining survivors requiring another drop.

That’s a pretty solid one I use a lot too!

No, they should be recoverable. It’s likely they walked out into an area and then were discovered by the ai and destroyed. It happens from time to time.

Not a stupid question at all. You have to find troop concentrations on the enemy side. These will be trucks or tanks and some AAA. They are usually in the open and typically situated along the border with your side hexes. So the easiest thing to do is fly to the front line and fly a few kilometers in enemy territory then fly parallel to the front. Once you find an enemy concentration you must land a standard squad of troops within 4km of the enemy. They will kill on a 1 to 1 basis meaning a squad of 4 soldiers will kill 4 enemy units after you drop them in range. The timer to kill regular enemy with a standard squad is 3 minutes

I always hand fly it and use trim. For the most part it requires periodic adjusting but I kind of find it relaxing. If I’m flying a long range raid usually I’ll have a few steering points so I’m really focused on flying a course to a landmark and that keeps me busy. I dunno maybe I’m strange but I love flying the thing lol

Sometimes the Orange circles take a little bit of time to update. Eventually they go away if something is destroyed. The server resets every 4 hours so maybe you were close to the server ending and then that is why it reset. Also some times if they admins want to put a new patch to the server they may restart it between the normal 4 hours.

Yes you can redeploy them infinitely if they find or do not find targets. I always just land within the range of the type of troops I’m carrying so if it’s 4km range then I find a target maybe from recon or I just see it with my eyeballs and then land a little ways away. You may need to use your ruler in the f10 map to find a good spot to land.

@@MyMatK sounds good. With recon you drop anywhere and you will see ground targets if they are within 12.5km and infrastructure targets 25km. With SOF you need to get very close so you must be very careful and take out nearby AA

No they will destroy any enemy units within 4km whether or not targets have been identified by recon or not.

Yeah it’s being reworked at the moment and will be added in later is what I heard.

@@ryu1940 CSAR's always been my preferred role when it comes to helis, but have in fact been enjoying the new troop transport system quite a bit too

Yeah I can make a video like that in the future. I usually touch upon it in some of my videos but some important things to do is to maneuver if you detect a plane by noise or visually. Do some large direction change when they turn away because they are going to look back at the direction they thought you were going first as they circle around. Another thing I do a lot with clouds now is fly into the shadier parts of the the map. Instead of being a dark colored dot among a brightly lit ground behind you, be dark dot with a dark shady background if you could help it. It will be harder for jets to see. Of course don't fly high as well but sometimes it can't be avoided and you'll have to fly high a little to understand the lay of the land before you can fly low and fast yet feel confident you wont run over an enemy vulcan waiting for you. My next video is going to be documentary style but maybe after that I can do something like this.

No the standard troops can only attack regular military units like tanks and SAMs etc. they can’t attack depots, infrastructure, or factories. You must use SOF for those types of targets.

Sometimes I bring regular standard troops with me to kill any air defense around a factory or depot of infrastructure target that I may be attacking with my SOF troops.

You must use the F keys like F1, F2, F3, etc

@@dendroaspis8378 are you in the right submenu you ? You need to hit the radio command then F10 for Other and then in there you should see menu items for troop orders iirc.

@@ryu1940 yip.... Radio menu then F7 I think.... Then it showed a "2" for troop options... I could not press 2....the other options were F11 to go back (I think) and F12 to exit.

@@dendroaspis8378 I can say for certain it is F10 first for the OTHER menu not F7 for AIRBORNE TROOPS. From F10 it is then F2 for TROOP ORDERS and then F1 to load troops F2 to drop troops F3 Display Passengers and F4 to Display Nearest CSAR. Give that a try if you haven't been hitting F10 OTHER first.

You need to click on the circle and see if it says troops waiting for exfil. Some circles are just enemy troop locations and infrastructure targets uncovered by recon and would not be shooting flares.

There’s always a possibility it bugged out but generally the troops will be sort of close to where you dropped them off. The flares in day time can be hard to see. I have trouble with this sometimes if it’s really bright out.
