DCS: F-16C Viper | Air-to-Ground Helmet
In an earlier video, we explored many of the air-to-air functions for the Helmet Mounted Cueing System (HMCS) of the Viper. In this video, we will review its air-to-ground functions that include steerpoint and sensor point of interest display; JDAM, JSOW, and WCMD cueing; Maverick cueing; and setting a Mark Point as a sub-mode of MUD Markpoint creation.
The Sensor of Interest (SOI) must first be assigned to the HUD and the weapons must be in Visual (VIS) mode. To move the designation to the HMCS, press Target Management Switch (TMS) forward for more than 0.5 seconds and release. To return the designation to the HUD, press TMS aft.
When the designation is assigned to the HMCS, TMS forward to ground stabilize and TMS aft to return the designation to the aiming cross if the designation has been slewed using the radar cursor slew switch.

Oh hell yes, this will help so much with my SA! Out of curiosity, does the real world viper have the ability to select existing waypoints as the SPI with the HMCS? That would be nice if you have a bunch of tightly grouped mark points that are too close together to differentiate on the HSD.

Is there or will be in the future an option for HMCS to have some preset or easier way to change amount of data available on HMCS? Especially for AA, since on MP servers it would be nice to quickly get desired settings without too much of running thru DED with ICP. Thank you.

I can't make the helmet SOI... I am in VIS mode for the maverick, HUD is soi & I press TMS up > 0.5sec. the markers stays in the middle of the HUD

I still cannot find what switch it is you are using to so easily change from the modes. CCIP/CCRP etc... I thought it was the missile step but that sends me straight over to AA mode. :(

Create a Mark point and set it as your SP. Mark sharing will come later.

Wags ... what values do you have set for your radar cursor slew? Slewing the radar works fine for me ... not too slow, not too sensitive. But when I use it to move the box around in the TGP or HUD/Helmet like that it is WAY too sensitive. But upping the curve or saturation in axis to tame it down makes the slewing in the radar too slow.

When you TMS up for more than .5 seconds, does it switch to the HMD on release of TMS up or .5 seconds after you start holding it?

You will have to release it. No different than setting the radar to TWS with long press right we currently have.

No, TMS.

Logically, yes. But bear in mind that the HMCS setup was added on top of existing software for engaging visually using the HUD. It’s very much something that was added to the Viper after it’s development.

The TGP will slave to the SPI. So, simply set the desired cue source (mark point, FCR, etc.) as the SPI.

Something changed on my f16. It disappears when my landing gear is out. It appears when i tow away my landing gear. This started to happen when I edited my countermeasures profile file which is totally weird. How to I reinstall the F16 module to fix this?
