Metal weapons that aren't the scimitar, or used for a special attack are also dead content. Who is going to use a rune longsword, if they have a rune scimitar?

The Sad part is Mixes wouldn't be dead content if they just made them be able to hold 4 doses a potion. Even if you had to use 1 set of eggs per a dose it would still be worth it.

The rat catcher mini game is super valuable for a tp to port sarim 😂

Jagex should revamp some of these for the purpose of like helping Ironman train. I think that'd be cool.

Some dead content that was a legit money maker back in 2006 are the thieving chests in a house in Ardy's centre square. There are two chests, one gives a nature rune and like 50gp, the other gives about 200gp. The chests 'respawn' about every 20 seconds if i remember rightly. I thieved thousands of nature runes there and it was always busy. it even had it's own random event that would shoot poison gas making everyone run away

stamina mix is actually useful for rev caves pking, only 2 dose but that is usually plenty for a fight and the extra 12 heals is minimal but better than 0

So much content has been added to replace something or to be a solution to something like runecrafting just for the original content to become redundant

Skullball was great at the start of OSRS; I remember rushing 56 agility there, temporarily ranking 157 in agility.

fight pit used to be fun but its a good tele to get to fight caves/inferno and the diary task of course. u can also get friends and fight w barrows gear to get that 2006 feeling again 🥰

The only use I found for mixes personally is using the anti poison ones for getting zaros kc on magers for nex since they can poison you often.

I used to train construction with flatpacks. I collected thousands of the things lol. I also remember getting really expensive flatpacks on the GE super cheap. Like an opulent table was about 6k but if you made it yourself it was hundreds of K

i have bought flat packs on accs with lower construction to build the max wardrobes and chests to store all my outfits. especially for like the cape rack and stuff some of those need 90+ con and if u only 83 well..

Flatpacks are still nice for costume room upgrades, can max evrything in there just from buying it of the ge.

rat pits is actually dead, theres some content outside of the minigame like filling the pole and getting the cat training medal but that’s about it. teleing to the rat pits is probably the only useful thing

You know, RuneScape does have dead content BUT I don’t think any game makes as much evergreen content as OSRS. Other MMOs makes all content dead anytime new content comes out.

Barbarian mixes are not dead content at all for ironmen, they give a lot of extra herblore xp out of the many useless pots you make and can even be done 0 time while barb fishing

1. They do, just sell it cheaper. 3. matter of luck like in most cases, in last shown trade you made money. Also if you get them for free, then your not really losing money either. Also usually dead content means no one can do it, but most of these listed are something that can be done since they don't require anyone one but the player themself. In a same way single player game that no one plays, cannot be consider dead since it can still be play, unlike many multiplayers that have their servers shut down.

Osrs team are amateurs in making content dead most of it is just RS2 content that didn't got updated, meanwhile RS3 team is on their top game of making stuff irelevant last few months. Pretty sure that's why they move some devs from RS3 to OSRS right now. Just to list few achievments of theirs: - They made 3 combat styles basically irelevant by releasing overtuned 4th style that was fairly easy and cheap to itemize for 6 months ago and still not buffed the other three styles at all. (They are working on it.) - They are completely screwed for content because they had multiple months of mtx shit for hero pass made before they had to scrap it because 25% of their remaining playerbase quit within days of hero pass release. So there is currently bit of a content drought. (I gotta say those graphical updates to old zones are nice though, 10 years late but still nice.) - Last boss release which was "Vorkath but RS3" was released with really mid loot and basically no chase items making it most dissapointing boss release since Rex matriarchs. (which at least brought bis rings) - Our roadmap is literally valid till like May and in it we have easter event (who fucking expected that around easter?), combat style rebalance and few quests at best.

Iron man mode killed all the group necessity beyond achievements and completionists. We'll never have the group minigames we used to have without the reward becoming a necessary milestone in an iron man's account, and that's why content dies.
