A dying mall in which most of the stores are gone and the only department store left is a Kohls.

I grew up going to this mall and it’s so sad seeing it so dead now. The restaurant was called “Diamond Dave’s”. It was a Mexican restaurant. I used to go there all the time when I went shopping with my mom.

looks like they picked the right name, because soon the mall will only be a memory, lol A memorial is an object which serves as a focus for memory of something that has died.

Sears did not leave in 2001. They were there all the way until late 2015 when they closed for good. I did some Christmas shopping there right before they closed it for good. I remember going there once when I was 10 and the arcade there was full of kids. I believe it was sometime in 2004.

Once was the best place in town to shop but people in this area for some reason would rather drive an hour or more to shop plus the fact that there are 2 Wal-Mart's with 10 minute didn't help this video just made me remember all the store that once where in the mail and all the time we once spent there hopefully with the sale of it good thing will come

+Zac Freriks indeed Walmart didn't help matters. The irony is that Meijer plans to build on the mall location after the mall is torn down.

I live in the town north of this one, Manitowoc, and there's a video on its dead mall too. As a kid, I went to this mall a lot with my parents. I really liked the play area and that hard floor area in front of Kohl's. A few years ago my family and I started to realize that the stores were rapidly closing. We started to go there less and less, and now we barely go there at all when we visit Sheboygan. I will remember this place fondly when it is gone, perhaps in the next 10-15 years.

This mall was torn down a few months ago. Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohls are the only two stores still standing. A new Meijer store is being built on the site.

This was recently demo'd...all that remains is the Kohls and Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Amazing that there were no kids playing...that place was usually pretty busy. Thanks for posting the video...you can't walk this anymore, so it's nice to be able to have it to show the kids later on. My wife and I were just reminiscing about the Original Cookie and Aladdin's Castle. Bring on the Meijer.

About 3 or 4 years ago The only thing left in the oringinal heron gate mall in ottawa is food basics before rio can tore down the rest of heron gate mall and replace is 4 new blocks of shopping fast food and a bank and totaly new layout for the parking lot. Could the old heron gate be of been rebuilt of the bones of the old heron gate fpr about 1.2 million probally but at the time slightly more coast so rio can gut and rip up the old heron amd built the hearon gate quare strip mall with a complete retrofit of the food basics for about 1.1 million. Sometimes is it cheaper to scrap older shopping malls that were build with either design flaws or had poor maitance since they were built then to rebuilt around fixing the design flaws and defects

I remember as a kid, people could smoke in there. Diamond Daves mexican restaurant was across the hall from where it was in the video, it always looked so dark and smokey in there. Then there was a firestone tire store real close by and it always smelled like rubber in the vicinity. There used to be a awesome arcade in there called Noahs Ark. And JC Pennys was where Hobby Lobby was, that is where you could buy your Jnco Jeans, and they had a escalator that went to a second floor.

Diamond Dave's was good about 20 years ago. Not surprising they closed and didn't relocate. Today, the back half of the mall is almost completely torn down. Kind of sad. Even sadder is how the mall killed downtown when it opened, and it's been gasping trying to stay alive. I still remember Sears, Penney's, and Prange's, among other classsic stores long gone that stood on 8th Street.
@MBrulla6 жыл бұрын
That Diamond Dave's was our Christmas stop. Not being one who enjoys shopping, we would shop for a bit, then stop for a bite and drinks...many drinks. Then back to shopping. Always loved that place.
