In this video I smoked a whole turkey on the Pellet Pro 1190. Smoking a turkey really is not very hard but you got to watch the temp on the breast meat. I always make sure that I pull it off the smoker before it reaches 160° because there is always at least 5° of carry over when you let it rest for 15 mins. Resting a bird is always important so the juices redistribute back in the fibers of the meat. The Smoke Daddy Pellet Pro crushed this cook and I am so impressed with the new USA2 controller how even it heats that cooking chamber. Had some bad audio spots in this one but I found the problem and got it fixed! Thanks for watching!!
My favorite poultry injection Butchers BBQ Bird Booster: amzn.to/2ICeLZV
Here is the easy Turkey Brine I used for this big bird!
In a 3 gallon ziplock bag I used:
-1 Gallon of UnSalted Chicken Stock
- 1/2 Cup of Kosher Salt
- 1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar
- 1/4 Cup of Pepper Corns
- 1/4 Cup of Crawfords Alamo Dust-use what you have or check the link below
- 1 tsp of thyme
- 2 Bay Leaves
- Topped of with about 2 more cup of water.

Ricer at Dead Broke Barbecue saved my Thanksgiving, literally. I called him at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day because I was having trouble with my temps. He left his family and drove straight over with his equipment. He corrected my issues and left his equipment for me to use. We have fried our Thanksgiving turkey for the last 10 years but decided to smoke it this year. So how good was it? Our son-in-law put it best, telling us he has never liked turkey but could not stop eating the smoked turkey. Family voted that I needed to change our tradition and smoke it from now on so yes, this was definitely a winner. I did the dry rub for 24 hrs and injected it with a homemade garlic Cajun marinade and it was so tasty and juicy and really easy to boot. Thank you for this recipe!!!

Nice job. I smoke mine for 6 hrs @ 180 degrees before turning up to 275 to finish. Everyone’s raves about it, it’s so good I now have to make 2 birds! I think the brine is the most important part. 2 years ago I cooked it til 180 degrees on the breast and it was still juicy and delicious. Super easy and better than any other turkey I’ve had, EVER. 👍

@penniesfromheaven2511
@penniesfromheaven2511 Жыл бұрын
@@BambooScar roughly an hour, but depends on bird size. Mine are usually 16-18lb birds. @180 u can’t really overcook it. This year it’ll be in the 30’s here so I’ll probably go to 325 to finish. I always just watch the internal temp and pull them off @ 170-175. 20 mins of rest also important. I also spritz the outside every hour with apple juice and Worcestershire. No stuffing in the birds. Cover with foil if skin is to your liking, as it may finish before inside. Ask away any other ?’s before Thursday, as I’ll be busy then. I’m curious to know how yours turn out too.

Well Bobby this is a tricky question. Now I will say I have the Pellet Pro Vertical coming in tomorrow but I absolutely love the 1190. Now the Yoder is a great cooker also. I really can't answer the Rec Tec but I know they make a decent pellet smoker. I will also add that the 1190 is the best cooker I have used in my 25 years of backyard cooking.

( I replied because I saw you sent another message) haha The Yoder is a tank and has a great controller and made in the USA. Now Lone Star Grillz is coming out with a pellet themselves and I will own one of those once they are ready to start shipping. But both of the those are higher dollar cookers. The Smoke Daddy the chamber is made in China but the controller is made here in the States. Now their vertical is an awesome pit because you can get a lot of food in it but not made for grilling. But with you having the Genesis you really don't need a grill. When do you want one? Thanks for watching but I am not a celebrity!! hahaha

@@DeadBrokeBBQ I wanted to get one in December or January. I am having my house built and it should be ready by mid to late December hopefully. By the way, I am from El Paso, TX. Right now I live in an apartment, so I have to wait. I did check out Lonestargrillz.com and did they say when the pellet smoker will be available? Also, when will you start making videos on the Pellet Pro Vertical? Finally, will you be considering getting the Yoder Smoker YS640s Pellet Grill?
@DeadBrokeBBQ
@DeadBrokeBBQ 3 жыл бұрын
Lone Star Grillz is in the final testing stage but it might be another month before they are ready. I do not have insider info to confirm that though. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I get a couple vertical videos out. If I get the Lone Star Grillz Pellet it will be a while before I would get a Yoder but I do have a company that I work with that talked about giving me their demo to do a couple videos on it but that is still in the negotiation stage so I am not holding my breath. Plus those videos would be made for them directly and might not be on my channel. I like Yoder but I would pick a LSG over a Yoder because I am a huge fan of LSG. Hope this helps but honestly bro all of these cookers you listed are great!! One thing to add Smoke Daddy is a small company but they care a lot about their customers!! For a mid level cooker it can certainly hang with the big boys!! Just not made of 3/16th steel. Good luck and glad you enjoy my videos and I appreciate you leaving a comment!!

Hmmm I typically run Turkey at 275-300° on any pit I use. Hotter running pit I set it at 275° and cooler running pits I run at 300°. Thanks for watching!

So many people putting pans of water in the smoker to keep it from drying out, you don't have issues with too dry turkey breast in yours without the water pan?
@DeadBrokeBBQ
@DeadBrokeBBQ 2 жыл бұрын
I never use a water pan on any poultry that is not going to help crisp the skin up very much. Brine it and inject the breast with some unsalted butter and smoke away.

Does the canola spray effect the taste?
@DeadBrokeBBQ
@DeadBrokeBBQ 3 жыл бұрын
No but you can use butter spray or duck fat if you want. All 3 help get that skin a little crispier. Thanks for watching and enjoy the Holiday Season!!

Is there any pros to cooking the turkey in a pan to keep the drippings?
@DeadBrokeBBQ
@DeadBrokeBBQ 8 ай бұрын
Ya putting a pan underneath it will catch some juices. Too deep of a pan will effect the smoke flow, so make sure you use a shallow pan.
