@Matts Opinions I have an older friend that was told he had lung cancer. He already had part of one lung removed and the doctors told him there was nothing they could do. He was expected to die just months after the diagnosis but he did not! The cancer is gone after making changes to his diet. If he can do it everyone should be able to. Good luck.

I love this! God bless that cutie pie and all his adorableness and his family!! People think I’m crazy for rescuing a deaf cat, a blind dog, Parvo pup, two physically disabled pups, senior dogs and cats and the list goes on, but how can you not? My heart melts when I see another baby that needs love.❤

​@@melindasmith3713 Shelters rely on donations as they're significantly underfunded and very expensive to run so an adoption fee is necessary. It's typically less than $100 and goes towards animal care, vet bills, shelter maintenance...etc. Most shelters have 1-2 paid (always low paid) full-time employees and wouldn't be able to stay open without volunteers and community support/donations.

Hold that Ghost - you should ask the shelter if they have any specials coming up as most run occasional discount days/months. Maybe offer to volunteer a few days per month in exchange for a reduced adoption fee or see if they would give you a discount if you donated some items from their needs list. Every shelter has a list of "always need" products (often on their website) like food, towels, bleach, cat litter, collars, leashes, toys...etc, most of which are inexpensive or items you already have, like clean older towels. Thank you for adopting a special needs dog!

Hi. Sometimes it’s a money issue, if the pet will require routine additional care expenses. My friend’s daughter found a blind kitten and brought her home. At first, the parents thought it’s just cruel for a cat to be blind. HOWEVER, within days she was no longer bumping into walls and furniture and knew her way around. So glad it worked out that this lil one has a forever home. You’re right, they learn, adapt and are capable of wonderful things, great love and companionship.

with cats, it makes much less of a difference, but with dogs, deafness makes letting them off leash outside much riskier due to inability to recall, and it makes training and using commands more difficult because it requires the dog looking at you. some dog owners already have trouble with giving clear vocal commands rather than talking to dogs like humans, nevermind reading and using body language - those people would be way too dumb for a deaf dog. blind dogs are rather unproblematic, perhaps even easier to handle than seeing dogs because the blindness slows them down. just have some awareness of not moving stuff around in your home to keep paths clear for the dog to walk without bumping into or tripping over something. oh, and a lot of deaf cats and dogs are loud. they tend to instinctively meow/bark/whine, and a lot of them do it as loud as they can, which hearing animals rarely do.

@@Ass_of_Amalek yes they can have a bit more challenges but any animal can have many challenges without being blind or deaf doesn’t mean they are less adoptable or a bigger responsibility to take on as they are just as capable and live normal lives sometimes better then ones who are not blind or deaf. Recall shouldn’t be done off leash with any dog unless you have already trained them to do so so I don’t know how that would be a issue anyway as you stated that is a challenge if doing recall and them not hearing you. If you haven’t trained your animal correctly even a dog who hears won’t come if not trained to so your statement is not even valid. These dogs or cats blind or deaf are just as capable and normal then any hearing or seeing dog . If your deaf dog is trained properly in recall then you wouldn’t worry having them off leash and calling them back because you should already have that trained to keep an eye on you at all times and wait for hand signals. My dog is not deaf or blind and doesn’t respond to many words he watches me and responds to sign language. That is how I taught my dog and it’s the relationship we have . I don’t like when people look over a animal being it can’t hear or see and pass it due to these things as if it’s more of a issue etc that is absolutely incorrect as they are just if not more capable as any other animal. You are correct though on the dummies who should not have one let alone one who can hear or see , most pet owners shouldn’t even be allowed to have pets. It’s truly a shame because poor animals can’t pick there homes they are chosen for them and that is unfortunate
