If weekly updates didn't exist, the current problems could have been solved a long time ago and the real focus of the game would still be the PVE interactions with the world of Deepwoken rather than weekly patches that only draw people away from the main game into instanced servers

@@annexedd it should be both, games like these need to understand that going for just One is kinda bad, i know it's hard to put tought in both the PvE and PvP but i think it's good to have both, and deepwoken were going to this direction, but now EVERY update is something based on PvP, and everything based around Npcs and monsters are just a easy farm for experienced players, i think they should put more tought in the monster interactions, because the game were supposed to be a beliavable world, and the monsters are just as important then. so basically i think deepwoken were going to the right path but like xicro said the weekly updates are just neglecting all the other problems.

@@kasutiryosu5259 i think the main problem here is the fact that they need for players to keep playing the game, else it would simply turn into a dead game like most other big games have suffered on the very same platform. weekly updates retains players and keeps them playing the game, whereas if they were to stop them alltogether and start working on big projects right away they'd find themselves in a situation similar to yba's, where the developer stopped updating the game and the player count dropped from 5 digits to 3 at times. the way they're dealing with the game right now *is* flawed, don't get that wrong, i do believe the fact that the game is everchanging in small details that turn builds obsolete and create new metas every week is jarring and will eventually lead to the demise of the game itself, but it's hard to step away from something like that. the fact it stays at a constant 5 digits of active players is still a positive to the devs, and even if they do care about what the players say, be it positive or negative, the current state is effectively a safe, prooven way of keeping the income steady, unlike the "stop updating so often and focus on the big projects", which is a huge gamble on whether it would be rewarding for them in the end.

If it was just a pve game where pvp helped when it started, there wouldn't be the most mediocre bosses of all time. The only reason duke, ferryman, primadon, and kaido were hard was because at the time we were new to the game, and it was laggy, don't forget that. If it was a pve game with pvp aspects, there would have been at least bosses without move-sets ripped straight from ABA, made with actual love, proper parry timings and not lazily made animations (primadon and kaido). and in my opinion the world building was not really that good either, it was just a more complex level-up island to island game, like it is now sure some lore was there in the beginning but, the lore was, and still is discord based, I don't like how you have to be a dev to fully understand and release lore unto the crowd of discordian lore hunters, shouldn't the game be the way to speak to players about well, THE WORLD ITSELF? Instead of ruining immersion by going into the discord and looking through arch or ragoozers messages? In the end, my conclusion is, the only boss that was creative in the beginning was, ferryman and he's still a cake-walk. I feel as if players are slowly beginning to get nostalgia brain and are saying, "Old deepwoken was better because of the world building." opinions are subjective, but I feel as if they are just very nostalgic about it. If it continued down the path of what it was in the beginning, it would eventually turn into a clicker simulator (it did with the old widow cheese, the recently fixed duke cheese, kaido cheese, and the hidden flamegun primadon stratagem where you just shoot bullets at him) where there was almost no skill in fighting monsters, and bosses. (And still to this day there is no skill, look at current pve, besides maestro which was a very good addition to the game, just really predictable patterns, with very big dodge and parry frames. Looking at all the original bosses, besides kaido, he is actually the worst boss in the game design wise.)

tbh when layer 2 floor 2 dropped i thought it was out of place for deepwoken's current style at the time, the same goes for a lot of mantras that don't fit into the game like stupid aoe and things like flaming scourge just does not fit deepwoken's style i feel like. I liked the game's medieval style with a hint of magic a lot more than what it is now. edit: I would have rather had new expansions to the game's overworld map than other things as well. There was some very easy options for islands they could have added such as the islands on that early game map like geoduck cove and lungfish keep sounded soo cool. Just additions to the environment in general would make the game a lot more immersive into its world and new things to discover. (just adding on as i watch through the video(ended up turning this into an essay))

yeah the vfx clutter and new models takes away so much of the orignal feel deepwoken, they just add things that sounded cool but dont consider how they fit into the world of deepwoken. (dawnwalker and floor 2 are the most extreme examples and the railgun is a recent one)

@@daylight8445 exactly, too much vfx that it starts to look like those shitty battlegrounds games with over the top vfx, i wouldn't say dawnwalker was too much out of deepwoken's style but the railgun definetly is out of the old style, but that being said it fits the games newer style enough to be acceptable at this point

once conquest comes out they will will focus on updating that more than the actual game, when chime came out their main focus was balancing pvp for agess not adding content and so on, conquest is not what deepwoken needs

The thing that turns me off from deepwoken (when it happens) is when plays attack you out of nowhere for no apparent reason. It’s SO annoying bc I’m tryna mind my business and not doing anything to other people, and I don’t wanna play a game that makes me feel like all of my progress will go down the drain bc of someone who wanted to catch a one sided fade. But I keep coming back

Its so disappointing, the game lacks the exploration aspects that it once had and it feels like everything that isnt a gamemode has been abandoned. the vibe the game once had has been lost.

YES THANK YOU! I have had this feeling about the game for so long! So much content right now just feels so out of place. And a conquest and even void tower feels like they don't belong in the game. Why does a perma death rpg focused on horrible afterlife dimension spend over a year adding a leage of legends gamemode?? How the heck does that make sense?!

I think with conquest they are trying to set a good PvP game mode what will really help its lifespan then they will hopefully work more on pve and the world

Adding new islands without also adding an equal amount of content in that island is a step in the wrong direction tbh, so I'm not surprised they haven't done it

Yeah although true, games like Arcane Odyssey do that pretty effectively and easily builders build an island and Vetex creates a couple of quest pertaining to the island that either lead you out of the island itself or lead you to it from another island if a Single Programmer with 2-3 builders is able to do it, a Fullstack Dev Team should be competent enough to produce similar if not BETTER results this could be setting my expectations high but hey its just my own thoughts and opinion on the matter, they should as a group focus on games direction

I've been saying every update is to distract from the overworld, and they have such an easy fix make chime conquest and battle royale weekends only add more island and overworld content but instead they chose to focus on these alt gamemodes its sad.

tbh i think the worst part about conquest is that it shifts focus away from the overworld, just like how chime did when it got added. i don’t get why the devs are so keen on adding “gamemodes” (chime, battle royale, conquest, etc.) instead of finding ways to incentivize overworld pvp. it’s just super lame

tbf my thoughts on it are: they're js not smart enough 1. arch's already talked about how there are issues he wants to solve or change but he js can't come up with a way of doing it cause all these updates were made without surveillance or long term thinking and now it's so webbed he can't directly mess with it without annoying ppl, legit js not knowing how to manage your game is what I mean. 2. p sure he wanted to add an overwhelming amount of content but deepwoken's main seller is pvp, deepwoken isn't verdant moon and the focus of it was the catchy mechanics so when he started tweaking pvp related stuff to better fit players, we kept on asking for more until it took over the team's minds for the most part, and it IS working LOL only a minority actually cares about anything other than pvp. 3. deepwoken's lore is whatever, any writer can think of catchy stuff like it, it's js more progressed than other games due to its funding so it feels heavier (the lore itself is all over the place but it's not that awful), not revolutionary though, it's also easier to experience compared to other games outside roblox so I can see why if it was your first time playing one of these you'd become hooked. 4. there isn't a way to shift the focus to lore currently, zero chance you can make the players love the lore more than they love making themselves feel good on a well made build, the only ones who don't are the ones pre layer 2 who still have that initial notion of mistery the game had on release, you progress to fight and it'll stay that way.

When I saw world events I imagined that deepwoken would take on traits of something like say Helldivers 2, for example. In Helldivers 2, player deployments to different planets repels back enemies and slowly leads to planet liberation. The devs direct attacks and where planets need defense, but the way the game develops is in a way, up to the players in the end. What I'd imagine for Deepwoken is like this, players can participate in different factions and encourage their expansion or recession as events around the world occur. Islands would sink, territory be lost/gained, advancements made, etc. It would be something interesting for players who want to explore and do PvE, but also give overworld PvP more of a purpose. You could make guilds "Authority Aligned" or "Etrea Aligned" and more, and two guilds of opposite alignments would be encouraged to fight each other, it would reinvigorate ganks. Some CC games have done this, but I feel Deepwoken could also possibly pull it off. It wouldn't just be world changes either. Say Ignition Union wins territory or something, maybe that leads to research and then boom, new legendary weapon made by ignition union. Ministry sinks an island, and some new relic or weapon curse is made because of that. It's possible, biggest proof? The entire April fools joke shows. The devs can track kills, across the ENTIRE GAME from ALL players in a SPECIFIC group, maybe make it in invisible, but just let players know that depending on what sides they help, the world would change as a result. It would provide lord nerds content, pve players content, and pvp players reasons to fight all at the same time. It doesn't have to be weekly, that would be way too harsh on the devs, they could make it monthly, and that would be perfectly fine. Some months would even be slower than others, that's fine too. Just make it so there's a reason seasons and years pass in game, make it feel like the world is actually changing as time progresses. It's all a big pipe dream really, but the idea is there. I just really don't like the instanced gamemodes, people already thought chime was pushing it when it first came out, now we literally have a whole instanced league of legends gamemode coming, it sucks.
