I think that the girl in the pod at the beginning, the floating body with dark hair and the blonde Elle Fanning is the same person. Both of women have bandages on the same arm and the face of the girl in the pod is also Elle Fanning's face, the eyes are quite distinctive.

It’s the moon, in the directors cuts that I’m playing now I just got to a scene from the BBs perspective in the pod where I doctor shows it a picture of the moon in a magazine and says “Look it’s the moon, I’ll show you it in person one day, you’ll be able to go wherever you want.” - That can’t be a coincidence I was shocked just seeing it now while playing.

I think the story will be about Sam having to venture to the world of the dead to bring Lou back to the world of the living (explains the inverted strands in the title graphic). It's mentioned Lou is dead in the trailer and I think Sam's mission will mirror Bridgette/Amelie from the first game, where Ameile returned Sam to the world of the living after being shot dead but making him a repatriate in the process.

It's Amelie's face and hair that Higgs is wearing. Like what Hannibal Lector did in Silence of the Lambs

no one seems to be mentioning: the scene with the higgs-bots hanging in air like bt's, you can see what looks to be inverted strands catching glints of light. IMO, they aren't the same as umbilical cords though, they look more like the thin puppet strings we see on the young girl (i think we're all assuming is Louise?) in the scene where she appears to be eavesdropping. puppets and puppet strings seem to be a pretty major recurring theme in the imagery. worth noting. edit: another thing i just noticed, when the Title comes down, initially it starts to just look like the usual cord introduction, HOWEVER, at the end of each letters animation they do a little sway, very much mimicking things on puppet-like strings

I think that the UCA completed research regarding the effects of Timefall and were able to reverse the effects and the did the procedure on Fragile

The fact that sam is older while being blue (in the beach, like we can see water inside the Mallingan) is maybe because of he was born there and he always grew up there, we never saw him younger or older in the real world. If this is really the case, it would be logic to have Fragile always young (in the beach, because people who was born on earth don't change in the beach, their 'ka' is still the same).

I think the DHV Magellan is using The Seam or The Beach in the same way ships in Warhammer 40k use The Warp to get around. Note how we always see it coming out of Tar lakes, which I think may indicate that, like BTs, it's emerging from the Beach into our world. This would also explain the shot of the Magellan coming out of the baby's mouth, maybe they've figured out some way to make those aboard the ship pseudorepatriates, technically dead just long enough for them to travel on the beach, but leaving them alive and well when they reach their destination in the world of the living.

One small additional detail i noticed is the melody Higgs plays on the guitar when attacking the samurai are the first three notes of Lou's Lullaby ! As a DS Fanboy i really appreciate your LOD breakdown!

I think the red sky in the BT-like encounters might indicate something new and interesting. Perhaps these aren't strictly BTs, perhaps there's something mechanically different about the way BT encounters behave in the game world. Or maybe it just looks cool, who knows!

I realized that in the Moon shot, the texture corresponds to the actual Moon's texture but it is inverted!! (not rotated). It is like a mirror image of the Moon. 🌛🌜

An interesting side note about the 4 droids and the dog. There are 2 types of driods in the scene 24:51 as denoted not just by the display on their headgear but also 2 carry deployable dogs on their shoulders and the other two seem to be holding staves with an extra hand on the backpack. Also, the dog isn't neutered.

I have the theory that Fragile and Sam somehow swapped DOOMS levels. Fragile's BT senses were dulled, but her age was transfered to Sam. That's why we see her with Fragile instead of Sam. Sam's probably running solo again for whatever reason, something that might require Fragile's abilties, but he had her watch Lou instead. But when he got her powers, her timefall damage transfered to him. It could be that Kojima is pulling a fast one by changing the appearance of Sam in the trailer, which isn't a thing Kojima is a stranger to doing.

Great video, enjoyed it a lot! In the first game we learned the earth don't rotates anymore that's the reason why it's always day, that means on other places on earth it's always night! It depents if it's still not rotating like in DS1, and we will visit other places not only mexico then maybe we see a country in the new trailer where it's always night. I’m excited for more combat and action, it needs to be tweaked a little bit from the first game but guns were basically useless in the first game besides boss encounters so I’d like to actually use them. When he engages with the floating “robot” things Sam puts down his pack unlike dumping all the boxes like you can in the first game which will probably make it way easier to switch into combat mode! Perhaps some clues are in the title: On The Beach. Perhaps they’ve learned more about the beach and have different ways to access and explore it. Maybe Sam can explore the world from the beach and the flash floods replace the BT’s and getting caught in it sends you back to the world of the living. But he also didn’t look bluish, so I’m probably wrong about that.

What about the puppet string metaphor? We now have strands coming from the top in the title screens, and we have the little puppet sidekick. There has to be something there right?

at one point fragile says something like "you're not here to expand the uca, we just want expand the network to here, like you did in mexico". which implies there's more than just mexico in terms of areas.

i think lou is in the pod, just as new type of BT! lou dies at the end of the 1st trailer after fragile falls off her bike, i think lou gets shot, and later we see the broken BB pod with lou forming as a BT - both lou and the BT have little wings on their backs! there’s also spikey cryptobiotes? so maybe lou is like mama’s child - a baby BT, but lou is special somehow, and can actually move from one spot, hence the wings! the tentacles in the pod might be lou interacting from the beach, potentially linking elle fanning’s character being lou from the beach after emerging from the tar!

I think the reason for sam can be older and younger is simply that they find the way to reverl timefall effect on human, and older sam just had his headfull of timefall. Also, I don't think the younger sam kiss lou is when his on bridge, it's very clear that he break off from it last game. Actually, he's wearing a independence porter's suit, if you look closely in his hood, you can see it lacks some component the bridge's suit has, which they use to rise the hood when timefall detected. You can even see how it's difference from drawbridge suit

I actually didn't notice control sticks on the vehicles and was 100% sure the vehicles will be automated this time. Someone corrected me and I noticed the sticks, but... I think that truck has a camera, or a sensor. And the fact the there is no hood... maybe we'll be able to shoot while driving on auto-pilot?

Definitely more than Mexico. Fragile says at some point in the trailer "just like in Mexico we need to blah blah". I am thinking Mexico is either the prologue and or early chapter or just referenced as something that happened and informed to Sam.

Everybody keeps saying the cat with the tentacle when maybe they should be saying the tentacle imitating a cat. Sorta like a hermit crab imitates a shell but we don't call them shells because its a crab, perhaps the tentacle is wearing the tar so it can survive outside of the tank and just decided to take on the shape of a cat rather than a Ditto. I only wonder if the tar itself is somehow alive similar to Venom, Venom is able to allow his host to breathe in almost any environment, he's already survived in space and underwater.

I'm very much guided by Edge magazine's scores/reviews. I've always thought of it as the industry journal. It's something I've been a follower of since I was a kid and it has served me well - exposing me to games I may never have tried, but knowing that their 9s and 10s are exceptional games and worthy of my time, I've played and loved significant games in genres I wouldn't otherwise have bothered with. They hated the first game, and I have to be honest, I did not rate ZOE/2 at all. I've never played Boktai, Snatcher or Policenauts, so my experience of Kojima's games outside of Metal Gear and Penguin Adventure is admittedly somewhat limited, but not positive. BUT, after this preview, I think I really need to try the first DS game, because this is the most advanced videogame thing I've ever seen and I really want to play this sequel.

This is mind blowingly good. I didn't play the first one but I will definately play this one. I bought it and just never got around to it. This game world is becoming something more and something more than I could have imagined to come to light. Maybe I'll put on the first game and see what I really think. I'm loving this and very interested in this world.

That moon shot is interesting. Could it be that that’s the actual moon and where Sam is standing was once a large lake/the sea and because the moon is so close the gravity has pushed the water away? Could also be possible that this shot is close to the end of the story. 🤔
