Please don't put that big can on truck.. A 4 or 5 inch exhaust pipe sounds great!!! A sujestion, take the time and try it both ways, but also, have someone else drive it too, so You can observe the sound as a spectator on the side of the road, ( not just how you hear it from within the cab...Those giant cans sound somewhat like those Soup Cans sound like on a 4 cylinder car only a bit deeper. Rebuilt the front brakes and new CV axles before vacation. Trucks been good to me now after we fixed everything. 127k only issue I had was water pumps untill my last one I went threw 7 in 6 months . This year trans will be rebuilt with all better stuff. New rear brakes and new hoses and rad. To support the power I'ma throw at it. My goal is 350 hp then next year head and cam. 2:15 About that, I used to watch a channel called Hack'n Pack Shop (and it's exactly what it sounds like). So just for experimenting (and because I was pressed for time) I did some super quick tackweld patch repair on rear arches, housings, rocker rear ends, and around tailgate on my forever crusty work-car, same as in the videos on that channel. Didn't take more than a couple of hours, the repaired sections ended up way stronger there vs on the factory stuff which is wiggly wobbly all over the place, that was 6 years ago and it's still holding up (I test it like a mad viking with a poke hammer every year). My stupid theory is the factory stuff only has a required amount of spotwelds per square foot for this and that section or something to keep with auto industry ISO safety standards or something or another. Anyway, the point is that same as me, you have about f*ck all time to spend fixing it, and welding it 200% correctly is what takes too much precious time and resources for it to be worth the effort of keeping it alive vs re-shelling. If you do it quick, a lick or two of primer, duraglas for protection and some paint on top, it'll hold up for a while longer instead of driving around with a car that's turning into crust all around you.

Take a tip from the Jeep world. On rockers that get hammered, cut them out and weld in 3" square tube. It's mostly to avoid damage from rocks off-road, but it's a thicker piece of steel and you can paint it inside and out as well as drill holes to let water escape.

Rich, in the clip of the headlights it looks like you have the high and low beams on at the same time. Do you have a video of how to have the lows come on with the highs? Thanks.

My 98 Ranger clutch-brake pedal assembly is pot metal and it broke.I couldn't get new one .I "fixed" it with pvc pipe and a plastic electrical clamp. A local machine shop is willing to build me a steel assembly and I think that is the way to go. Similar to your pedal grief. At least I am on southern Vancouver Island where vehicles don't rust out so quickly.

Whatever "engineer" that dreamed up a plastic clutch pedal assembly needs to be shot, hung, then drawn and quartered in a public square! Then do the same with whomever thought pot metal was a good thing!

Krown undercoat twice a year with a good power wash in spring and you'll never have to worry about rust again. My 05 Silverado is holding up well and I drive everyday on the New York state thruway...which is like an experiment for how much salt humans can put on a single road.

Hey Rich this truck has been my inspiration for my current project 2005 cc/lb Cummins nv4500 np263xhd swap. I started on it Oct 13 2020 that was pulling apart my donor truck and then the Chevy it was a complete truck Duramax Allison np263xhdthat i bought not running. I drove the truck for the first time Dec 4 2020 drives great for a truck with 315k on it waiting on an air dog pump to correct my lack of knowledge on Cummins cam shafts swapped a 2nd gen fuel system on a 1st gen. My lift pump isn't happy which in return makes the p pump unhappy. My main concern is my speedometer isn't working I had the thought that using the stock transfer case and wiring I would be good but I was wrong. I can not get low range either but I'm probably going to switch to a manual t case in the future to remedy that issue because I believe that issue is due to no Allison vss output and maybe that's what the issue with the speedo is. I would really appreciate any help you can give me! Wondered what you did for your speedo

2005 GMC Sierra SLT ccsb 4x4, 6.6l v8 lly Duramax, 289k miles. Naples Florida sunroof truck 2nd owner, now in Cape Coral. Not a sopt of rust on her! Not bad for a 15yr ol' pick-up. And I live right on the Gulf of Mexico 🇲🇽 Original engine, trans, transfer case, turbo injectors. New leather on the driver's seat and paintwork due to clear coat wearing through on the hood. Just basic maintenance and I drive the snot out of her, no problems. Would like to do the 6th gear conversion as im alwasy blasting down I-75.

I only recommend sealed u-joints. Even if you grease them regularly, which nobody does, the Spicer or OG GM (made by spicer?) joints are stronger and last much longer than the cheaper greasable ones.
