Doesn’t need to. He just needs to prove he was worth it in 6 instalments 😀. Over the 8 years if we get top 4 consistently it is 148m or so. Up to around 80m for winning CL. Base contract will cost 50m over 8 years, although increases with success. But this year he will only cost us 6m in wages. Pennies. I don’t think he has to do anything too outrageous to make the money back, even if he doesn’t hit the heights we expect him to. Obviously I haven’t considered other player’s costs but it’s same situation really. Few of our players we got for free with silva and then youth players. Just wages for them. None of them will cost more than 6m in wages per year. And the cost of all the other players aren’t costing much more than 10m a year in transfer fee and not much more in wages. Once you break it down the money side is fine. Winning trophies and entertaining people is the different story.

In the future Enzo will definitely play further forward, he’s not a defensive midfielder. However, at the moment he’s the only one that can play there. Similar to Bruno Guimaraes at Newcastle. They’ll both eventually be playing further forward for their clubs. Despite him playing out of position he still did really well, he’s special

I think Zakaria and Enzo would be a great partnership especially if Zakaria can maintain his form just like before his injury. He was bossing the midfield against Man City. A very big surprise.

@@footywithanedge what about the difference between potter system and Tuchel system? I think it would be nice if you touch upon it in future videos. Potter system to me looks more direct with more distance between the players when attacking however the players often looks confused of which pass to make and took split seconds longer, where with Tuchel the players knew exactly and instantaneously like it's automated in the training ground. But then they become predictable. But it could also be due to Tuchel personal life problems that taking his focus away.

Great analysis keep up the great work!! Ik that Joao Felix is just a loan player, but I'm excited to see how Enzo and Joao will link up. I think having Joao as an 8 that understands when he should come back (unlike Gallagher), will create an excellent link between the mid and attack and help to foster some excellent chances. Hopefully it works out, but we won't know until we see it.

Great point dude! Only thing I'll say is that Enzo is better at shooting, and he's more two-footed than Zinchenko. But I agree with your overall point because Arsenal got a PL winning left back who can play in midfield for just 35 Million. Thanks for watching!

Mudryk was definitely not high and wide. Maybe once we fully transitioned into attack he was, but mid transition, it was mount who was higher up the pitch

My friend, you are ignoring two things that make Enzo brilliant and destined for greatness, his capacity to adapt to a position, and to learn extremely fast, thanks to his intelligence, is something that hasn't been seen before from many players. His stats as a lone CDM wouldn't drop, they would still be amazing, instead of comparing last game stats to those in portuguese league where benfica doesn't need him to defend much, you should compare with champions league or world cup, where in both situations he had to defend a lot more, and against top oposition too, he was as outstanding defensively as he was vs fullham, so in the long term, if you left him as a sole DM he would still be world class. Having said that, you are absolutely right in that he should be playing more advanced, and totally free to move around the pitch to exploit his even more ridiculous creative qualties, and also elevating chelsea a couple levels. his 99 percentiles adjust to what the team needs from him, and I'm not even joking, feel free to check on fbref, its easy.

for those being lazy, in CL and premier league he is 99 percentile for tackles, and 99 percentile for tackles and interceptions, at 1.3 times Casemiro's output.

He had 6 tackles, 2 interceptions and 4 blocks in this game brother! That is not sustainable even for the best CDM in the world! 😅 I'm not saying his stats will come down cause he's not good at that position! I'm saying two things: 1) Enzo can get better at lone CDM because of his versatility and adaptability (pls watch my first video on Enzo for more on this) BUT his skillset is not built for a lone CDM! 2) Hes best as a deep lying playmaker who is equally adept at box to box! I covered almost every game for Argentina in the WC on this channel and i was a HUGE fan of Enzo's. I've seen all his stats (in all competitions) and here's what stands out to me: he has high volume for touches, passes, progressive passes, progressive passing distance and progressive carries! This indicates a playstyle similar to Luka Modric & even the eye test tells me that 😁 Playing him as a Casemiro is wasting his talent! I'm glad we can agree that Chelsea will get the best out of Enzo with a traditional CDM next to him!

@@footywithanedge ofcourse it is wasting talent, and I'd sack potter for doing that, but you did say at one point that his stats would long term drop to what you showed he had in benfica, which where the league stats where he didnt need to defend. that was my observation. In premier and CL He has 6.3 tackles and interceptions per 90, not so far off what he did vs fulham, and probably would be higher if he was the sole CDM for benfica instead of playing with florentino. In the world cup final he did 10 tackles. The same would happen if he was needed in a very advanced CM position, something like Pedri or say De Bruyne, he would stil be brilliant, I know this because he did it for my club River Plate in the last 6 months before he left, and had almost 0.6 G+A per 90.

Thank you for the video @footy with an Edge. As usual, great breakdown of what happened. With his vision and passing ability (without forgetting his shooting that is more than decent), Enzo should be in the 8. Unfortunately, we have been hit with so many injuries. Declan Rice is very good, but I would go with Romeo Lavia who I believe is not that far behind defensively but miles better with his technique. Alas, as you pointed out so well, Rice is always fit while Lavia is not.

Mount doesn’t seem to fit neither Havertz. I think Kovacic is our next best option for the time being. I think Enzo’s mistake when he was the last line of defense had more to do with how he had been utilized where he plays up to take advantage of his play making. I’m excited to see Enzo with Kanye at the same though. How much longer is he our for?

I hope he gets in touch with the intensity. In that 7:05, if he had play a straight ball to James with that space, it would have set us up on a better counter attack rather he drew the ball back with paused the move and Fulham had a chance to get into position.... Conclusion: hopefully he gets onto the intensity....and be direct.

That ball Enzo played to Ziyech having won the ball in 5:11, if it was kovacic, he won't play it, he would carry the ball and dribble from there, probably missing that counter attack... Conclusion: Chelsea need attacking re-orientation.

Gallagher was player further up as an 8 in the game because chelsea were actually playing a 433 with Enzo as the lone dm/deep lying playmaker, and not a 4231 like we had in previous games.

Potter is the problem..harverz is not a striker .. Enzo is not a dm .. he is doing all this to please mount n Gallagher... Mudryk had to play out of his position n pushed away by mount ... Either potter will get a grip of these players or he will get sacked .

This was exactly what people used to say about spending 50m on average players 10 years ago. Inflation is a thing, and as Football becomes more commercialized, the transfer market is going to get more and more inflated. In the next 20 years, someone like Chalobah going for 150m would be a normal weekend. 100m would be absolute chicken change by then.

I'm a River Plate fan from Argentina, I've seen Enzo interviews since 2018 when his name was starting to come up from the academy, River Plate had the best midfield in south america at the time: Enzo Perez, Exequiel Palacios, and Nacho Fernandez, he happens to be named like two of these 3, and people where saying Enzo Fernandez was going to be better than them, and able to do any of their three roles at a higher level, as if he was the combination of them 3 in one player. He has been asked about what midfielders he likes ever since, and he has always given different names as an answer, as a matter of fact he mentioned Pedri and Gavi in the full video of that specific clip. Enzo has said many times he likes to study different midfielders and different profiles to see what he can pick up from them and incorporate to his game, and it shows on how complete he is already at 22. Some media have been making of that interview a big deal to inflate Rice as if he was so special to Enzo, and this is simply no true.

@@wisdomnzube4121 Yes, he is a central midfielder, he can play anywhere on the pitch at the highest level, and even though he hasn't played as an advanced CM in Europe, in benfica he always had high attacking stats playing double pivot, and playing CM for River plate, on his last local competition he had 12 G+A in 15 games, of which 13 where starts.
