It's fishing movie time again with Graeme, this time he covers as many different species and fishing tips as he can in a 50 minute epic. So pull out the footstool and pour yourself whatever is your favourite drink...He goes fishing for Flounder but catches??...then he goes through baits in the World famous Tackle Shack, taking them to Watmore fishery to see which is the best and finally pops in a clip of some Pike fishing...He has been an avid all-round angler so easily changes from sea to freshwater, or switches between species. Great video again Graeme. I agree. I've spent a fortune on so called special baits but its sweetcorn, luncheon meat, bread, maggots or the good old worm every time. Love the Tackle Shack 🎣

Completely with you on these 'special baits' Graeme. I've tried a few, similar to the ones you tried, and not caught a thing on my local stretch of canal. Switch back to red maggots and catch with no problems. I think they're designed to catch anglers and not fish. Regards Chas :0)

I won several pots of those "special" particle baits, and caught nothing on them. If you were wealthy enough to shovel bucket loads of the stuff in on a regular basis, no doubt the fish would turn onto them eventually. The same reason carp eat high protein boillies exclusively on some waters when there's nothing like them in nature. Personally I find even traditional particles a summer bait.

Hi Graeme! Welcome to lymington Sea Wall fishing! The opposite side of the area you are at now called 'the straight' is a brilliant channel for the occasional big Bass, and some good flounder too! It's not as prolific area as it once was, but scenic and peaceful nonetheless! Tight lines :)

Hi Graham... The Lymington sea wall is my local spot... This time of year during the day you did well with the 2 bass .... Well done! I think in your first spot you were casting too far onto a mud flat ... Channel is a little closer in :) The Lymington crabs are hungry but the pop ups work well !

hi graeme good watch . when you band pellets on the hook you are better off threading the pellet and band up the shank of the hook more this leaves much more hook exposed to catch hold just the way i do but works well i found sitting it alond the bottom of the bend will reduce its hooking capability .another great vid thanks

Hi Graeme the soft ones are more for pole fishing the harder ones are for more of a summer bait for carp and bream they are good baits u need to give them a go in the summer and u will she the differant also try the harder ones with the feeder tight lines brother

I've been thinking of it myself. I was down in Christchurch getting some sea bait and had a look at Iford bridge. Should be coming good shortly,so good luck the Pike. Nice area to fish anyway.

I don't even bother hooking manky rag, I just grab three or four and lackey them to the shank and down past the hook in one big oozing sausage..seems to make up for the lack of wriggling. Tough sesh mate. Nice one mate

I agree with you about maggots being the best bait in the winter Graeme. I don't have a tackle shop near me here in mid Wales and so am forced to dig worms or use supermarket baits but I don't think my catch rates are any lower than other peoples. Not many fish will turn down a worm. Not many carp will turn down sweetcorn and on the rare ocassion when I have managed to get some maggots I always seem to do well on them. And lets not forget that Chris Yates caught his record carp on sweetcorn.

Try using your match mini's, yum, yum' s and the likes as a hook bait in conjunction with a method feeder, you might get some where. They are made with the match/commercial angler in mind for Carp ,Bream & F1's. However that being said I've had good results with Chub on the soft hookers.

enloyed the vid,... swan mussels great bait for tench and carp in summer,shell and freeze them..check the species first as some are protected mainly the freshwater pearl mussel found in rivers..cheers mate..

Graeme the soft pellets are for mainly pole fishing over micro pellets but are crap as they break up .. stick to maggots or sweetcorn ... mini match are for method feeder on haired band or baynit in the summer ..

I love those white dumbells as a hook bait on a micro pellet method feeder. I'm not sue about the other pellets but I do believe they are designed for different techniques not just float fishing. Not that I have anything against a float😊

If you were to dip the worms in the water before casting, they wouldn't break off on cast. Old tip a chap taught me fishing Chesil beach. It works.

I use to fish along the Pennington wall in the late 60's. Usually a bit further to the right of where you were. It looks so different now. We found a turn of the reel every couple of minutes gave a bit of movement plus kept the crabs at bay for longer.

I tried a light lead and bumping,but I missed the Bass bites. I went back with a changed hook rig and a grip lead and loaded up with 6 Bass in an afternoon before I ran out of bait...(In an upcoming film)

We used sections of Banana for Carp about 45 years ago. Size 2 Carp hook,piece of grass in the hook bend for casting support,or a crust pad doing the same.

the pellets can be used to select out bigger fish as they arent being instantly eaten by small silver fish. can save pellets for ages aswell. Maggots do catch big fish tho. big bunch maybe?

As always superb video. Fresh sea worms? Going to invest in a bait pump £22.00 a 1 lb for rag-worm/lug-worm just ridiculous a decent bait pump £60.00 three goes and its paid for itself, if I was younger I would use a fork. As for all these new pellet based baits forget it. In my day it was worm, bread, maggots/casters, potato and sweetcorn. We did not have to throw out buckets of ground bait either. (just little and often) not to say pellet based may work at certain times but I think you proved its very hit and miss. Sea fishing that would be a good day for me and at least you were out in the fresh air. Your energy levels are amazing but no Smith still a disappointment.

There is nothing new under the sun. An American writer of a 1980's fishing book showed attaching small bobbers to the leader in order to keep the bait above the trash Good methods still work. Great video thanks..

I am a real novice but fishing half way up the Thames in winter I only catch on maggots where Roach take sweetcorn, bread, elderberry and tares in summer.

Great vblog as per normal. I think the soft pellets only really work with flat method feeder to be honest.

TA Fishing I bought a tub of the yum yums ( you’re right they do stink) out of curiosity as an amateur returning after a 25 year break . I took maggots , sweetcorn, bread and a tub of the yum yums. I caught loads but didn’t even have a single knock on the yum yums!!!

These soft pellet baits are more for the commercial fisheries stocked heavily with carp for the match anglers on the feeder rods from my experience Graeme, they work on a local one I know but Im with you in the fact I'd much rather use maggots or even sweetcorn.

Hurst is in the distance more than a mile or so I guess. All I know is they call it the "Wall" ?? Apparently 5 miles long.

I was taught when I started fishing never use the green rag as they were breeding and useless as bait. The old school baits allways the best. Great watch once again.

Green always seem soft and yukky .Dare say OK for dropping down when boat fishing,but not so good for blasting out when beach fishing.

The harder pellet are band ums mainly for when you are using the method feeder, short hook lenghts and pellets or groundbait on the feeder. I have a tray of them all different colours, flavour and sizes.

I think all these packaged baits should have a small fold out leaflet telling beginners how to hook them,and how to use them. I could find no instructions.

Those soft pellets are meant for use with a pole, they're made to be shipped out because they definitely won't take a cast. They can be fairly successful but I've never been much of a fan, generally I prefer baits I can trust to stay on the hook.

my sentiments exacly graeme, they are there to catch the angler, and his money, my fishing is like yours , old style values, bait etc trouble is you now go on commercials, they only want pellet. pellet pellet, because that's all they know now, gladly not everywhere, cheers pal.

A lot of commercial fisheries actually feed their fish on coarse pellets in the winter months which is why 2 and 4mm coarse pellets work so well as groundbait or in the method feeder . And of course using the pellet waggler float can be deadly in the right hands (not mine though !)

Graeme start growing your own worms you have enough land easier to grow than prawns.But you will never beat two shrimp hooked back to back.Will never beat it.Adam
