My closet mainly.Living in Northern New England requires a few more clothing items, especially when you dont have a clothes dryer. I Enjoy drying my clothes in the ho7se on old fashioned drying racks.In the winter we gain moisture with the need for a hunidifier and in the summer the ceing fans help to dry the clothes.We don't need an air conditiiner with all the trees around us.You are a daily inspiration to many, young and old

I really like how you don't deny yourself the things you need for your health and wellness... But everything is so intentional. We've been rearranging rooms at our house, and it made me realize how much stuff we've accumulated... So, decluttering is happening here as well.

Madi! I love this so much! I am so behind in commenting and have missed watching your videos! I have the most exciting news I just couldn’t wait to share with you. My husband and I had this dream of moving to a beach town in Florida (to be closer to our family that had moved there over ten years ago) from Minnesota. We have sold and donated 90% of our belongings and our house just went on the market. It feels so amazing to be on the other side after all these years of decluttering and becoming debt free on one income and with two young children in tow. It has been so worth it! You continue to be one of my inspirations!

Great video Madison! My trick for keeping clutter low is to declutter one item/day - either to my donate box, to a friend, or trash/recycle. Helps keep my inventory low, as well as keeps my focus on what is in my house that is not useful or beautiful. I have completed my major declutters last year, so the one a day is now maintenance.

@thelovelybad

Thank you for this video! I’ve been in a loop of “decluttering, minimizing, organizing, moving, storing, etc” my belongings and still ended up with way too much stuff! I’ve had to move a lot over the last 7 years and had a child and just had an epiphany about all I’ve been hoarding that I don’t need that is taking up way too much of my time and energy. I’ve been spending ALL DAY, losing sleep, starting at 7am til I crash at 2am…and I’m just like this is INSANE! I’ve already managed to sell and donate and trash alot and I’m still not done! Having recently moved to a one bedroom has also been a major wake up call and adjustment to get rid of as much as possible…but then there’s also the guilt/remorse of getting rid of things I realize I could’ve kept to DIY re-purpose instead of having to buy new, again. Sigh!

This is my big problem! All the things I keep are things ‘to use again later’. Do minimalists just have to buy everything again when they need to do something ? Help @madisungrey ❤💖🙏
@thelovelybad
@thelovelybad Жыл бұрын
@@allruby208 right! I always wonder that…what happens when you get rid of something and then a couple of days or a week or a month later you’re like, wait..I actually need that! Ugh now I have to buy it again! But, something that is helping me on my journey is realizing decluttering and minimizing is a lifestyle change so you have to remember to go slow, change takes time. You are re-learning and adjusting to a new concept that most of us are just now being exposed to, that also goes heavily against society’s “bigger, better, more, spend” themes of life. It’s more-so about changing your mindset, confronting the traumas and ways of thinking that cause you to “hoard” which is driven by the anxiety of lack mindset; constantly trying to prepare for “what if” instead of living in the peace and flow of the “now.” Clutter is often a symptom of other mental/emotional issues going on within you that you may or may not be aware of caused by major life events, trauma, illness, childhood upbringing etc. Main thing to remember is compassion for yourself. Question yourself, journal it first what is your personal goals with decluttering aside from the aesthetics and the “feel” of it. What do you want it to help in your life? Also, remember “minimalism”looks different for everyone, remember that, especially if you have a health condition to manage or suffer from chronic pain so it’s impossible to get rid of a lot, fast. More so, focus on the question, “What brings me the most comfort?” What feels good on me, what feels good to use? What is actually helping me and what fits my short term and long term goals, now, in this moment? Where do you have space (literally and figuratively) to keep certain things with you and what do you just need to let go of? If you do have to buy again things are always on sale and available at the thrift, go on OfferUp and garage sales etc if you find yourself needing it again! The key to remember is, the world is full of stuff…there is no lack when you think about it, only the trauma of the illusions caused by the displacement of all this stuff! Hope this helps!

Love your videos Madi! So calming and peaceful with a great message. :) I've done the big decluttering, let go of about 90% of our stuff, but like you said it is ongoing. So as I go about my day I do what I call a reset. As I tidy up and return things to their home I do a quick look to see if anything is not where it actually lives and take it there or if I no longer need it put it in a donation box to help someone else. This has been more life-changing than I expected, it is such a feeling of freedom not to be weighed down by things anymore.

Sending you all the hugs! I'm the same way with my environment. If my home is messy, odds are my brain was messy first. I do want to encourage you to NOT sacrifice rest in order to put up KZfaq videos. While I love your videos, it is not worth depleting yourself. Take care of you and your family first. I'm currently recovering from an insanely busy 18 months, and coming through to the other side, I wish I would have given myself more grace and rest. I'm a high acheiver. I love getting things done and being busy. So it is really hard for me to slow down and adjust, but I can tell you that I have never regretted doing it anyway. I always go back to why I chose a simpler, more minimalistic lifestyle and it gives me peace about slowing down a little and resting more. Please at least give yourself the permission to consider giving yourself more rest over being consistent with KZfaq. Missing one video here and there to restore yourself isn't going to hinder your growth, but it can help you enjoy your life a lot more.

Hi!! I know this video has been posted a few months ago,but I just saw it : ) A great tip is from my godmother,who has an uncluttered,yet cosy home: having a place for each item and when shopping: one item in equals one item out. She s been doing this for decades : ) On a personal note, I see my decluttering as practicing my freedom of choice : what object do I want around me today? What colours do I want around me? What textures? Is there a feel that I miss that I could recreate? For example, for me, it is the feeling of freedom,time and beauty when camping near the beach. Because I am soon moving out of my studio appartment to another appartment in a warmer climate, I am pretending that I will be moving in a tiny house. It is a fun challenge : ) The idea is to have the most available space available so that my place looks like a big loft. I love to have space to have a sense of freedom!

I too have a box in my office, but I don’t actually have a specific declutter day. If I come across something to declutter it goes in the box. When the box is full it goes to the thrift store. I don’t try to sell anything cause 1, it is a pain and 2, a lot of people can’t afford to buy new, but they need it, so they can buy it cheap.

I just donated an entire truck worth of items. I've done this so many times, but with children it's easy to do because they grow, their needs and interests grow and change which can add to the clutter. I find that the hardest part of letting go of items is the "but I could try to sell it and get some money back" aspect. If I haven't taken the time or the effort to try to sell it after a few weeks then I donate it. No spend months are also a necessity for me because otherwise I am tempted to buy new things (or thrift more things) that we want but do not need. I get bored with things too quickly. I have a love of stationary and I make to do lists but then I end up making to do lists on paper and then in my phone as well and then I get overwhelmed. I wouldn't doubt it if I have ADHD, my mind goes a mile a minute and I get easily overwhelmed when there's too much clutter and even sometimes if there's too much background noise going on (music playing in the car and the family are all talking). Anyhow, I enjoy your content and hope that you have a wonderful rest of your week.
