Counting the clutter going out can be so motivating! I started counting what I was decluttering about 1.5 years ago and I'm up to over 6400 items! It's really unbelievable how much the average house can hold!

Yes decluttering isn’t a one off thing - it’s being constantly keeping on track of what’s working/using. There is always something to declutter ❤ love your channel - you give me so much inspiration Thanks ❤

It’s incredible how much you decluttered just by being consistent. I decluttered quite a few pairs of shoes about 12 months ago and haven’t bought any more, today I decluttered another 8 pairs and wear all of the ones I have left throughout the year. I think I’ve found my happy spot with the amount of shoes I now have.

My word for 2023 is consistency. This video is a perfect representation of what I strive for. Consistency in decluttering, workouts, cleaning, finances.

Shannon this series on how you stay minimalist is so motivating!!!! It’s such a great illustration that decluttering is something that will never really be “done”. Thanks for sharing. 😊

Thank you Sarah for being here. I do a video like this every month and I don't plan to stop because of all the comments I have received telling me how it helps people to know my why. =) I hope you have a nice day.

Great idea to take photos before donating. I’ve been hard on myself that I haven’t kept at it, and seeing these type of photos might help inspire me to keep going.

Shannon💗, you have inspired me so much with your videos. I'm going to be a Minimalist for 1year this week. I've subscribed to your channel and caught up on your videos the past months. I've learnt so much. Since I started this journey I've enjoyed the process. I follow a lot of your tips. Monthly decluttering. This was after my initial huge purge. Which happened when we moved mid Dec last year. I always wanted to comment but felt I had so much to say... I love your videos with your mom as well. Remembering my late mom today on her birthday💞. I love the way you talk and present your videos. Often after watching a video I'm filled with enthusiasm to do a decluttering project. I've decluttered so many things from clothes, homeware etc. Donated most and sold some items. I'm looking forward to my next decluttering year. I'm also inspiring others along the way. Great big thank you from South Africa 🇿🇦

You know, Shannon, I've been a subscriber for years now. I'm glad you are still posting decluttering videos. I've filled countless car trunks for donation and driveways for pick up over the years and I particularly like that you keep it real: you also BUY things. Because that is real life..my downfall is dollar tree. I don't feel great about decluttering those items because chances are they will be thrown away, but the availability of cheap options for so many items I've decluttered gives me peace of mind, that if I need it, I can buy it for $1.25.

Shannon, this was really inspiring today. The last two Januarys I have played the minimalist game with my sister-in-law. This year I am going to suggest that we do your project and take pictures before we donate or trash stuff to keep a running log of everything we've decluttered in this coming year. I think it's also a great idea to keep track of everything that's coming in also. I am like you and feel like I have decluttered the entire house now so it will be eye-opening to see what can still go out! Have a wonderful holiday with your sweet family!

Greetings from a freezing canadian day! I also declutter as I go otherwise the clutter can easily get out of control! Books, clothing and toys can accumulate very quickly especially at this time of the year. Take care and I always enjoy your videos. 🌟❤🎄❤🌟

I LOVE watching decluttering videos. I appreciate you showing us AND talking through it. Some other KZfaqrs only show what, quickly, what they've decluttered. I like the showing and talking about why. It's amazing what one can still find. Course, having kids make it even more.

Because of these videos, and the way you've talked through it all, I've started following your example. I've even considered making my own video (mostly for my family members to see) because hearing someone work through their thought process is what helps keep me in minimalism.

what was in the plastic bedding packaging that you pulled from the top of your closet?I have a few of those bedding bags and have been trying to find a good use for them before throwing in trash
@shannontorrens1

Hi Nikki, I love using those bags for so many things. In that one I had winter gloves, scarves and warm under things. But I also love to use the bags for storing seasonal throw blankets or even duvets that we are not currently using.

I was on my decluttering way and doing great-until my husband said “look at the neighbors, they are throwing out all of their Christmas decorations”.😳😭😭😭oh well, maybe next year.🤣🤣🤣
@shannontorrens1

hahaha I don't know why but that sounded so funny! I can just picture a huge pile of decorations near a trash bin lol. The one thing I have learned through all this decluttering and minimalism is you can't compare yourself to anyone or it will steal all your joy and hard work. There will always be someone richer, smarter, funnier, more minimal and more perfect. We have to do what is good for us and I am sure you are doing an excellent job! ❤

My neighbor lady finally decluttered her ex-husband's back yard workshop this past weekend. Gosh, he's been gone 10 years. She gave me hundreds of dollars worth of his former stuff. I'm going to sell it all for a lot of money. I'll will spend most of this money on beer and golf. The rest I'll just waste. Thank you Frank (where ever you are).
