We moved a bit rural in Southern California in retirement. I was shocked the recycle of greens and goods is not picked up. Everywhere else we had 3 bins. So been saving tins. I use them in my workshop as is but this is a great idea! I was also given some books from a lot. I had offered to buy the old ones but he gave them to me. Some from early 1900s but i looked up. Value is hardly there for not damaged. So I’m going to use pages from those. Pretty unique dialogs back in the day!

Thank you for your wonderful tips especially for those who don’t go through Mod Podge like I do! I clean out the jar and refill because I buy it by the gallon. It is also a great idea to put paint into a small dish as well. Paint gets contaminated too. Yes I love the lazy Susan idea it does make spray painting a lot easier. I’m about to do a decoupage project with my elderly mother in law so this video is so helpful. Is the Rustoleum sealant to be sprayed on just the outside of the can or the inside of can as well? I have the PodModge spray can, is that okay to use as sealant?
@JoanMarieDomino3 ай бұрын
You need to spray the inside and outside of the can if you want to put a live plant in it. However the can will still eventually rust. That’s ok with me I have several like that right now sitting on my patio. Or just put faux flowers, pens, spoons, etc. It’s very sweet that you will decoupage with your mom! I love it! Enjoy! ❤️ Joan

Most cans eventually rust. It makes sense because the dirt inside is always moist. You can try Rustoleum or go to a hardware store and ask if there is something better. - Joan

I have found that rust marks appear o on my decoupage when I decorate a tin despite having painted with chalk paint. How can I stop this?
@JoanMarieDomino2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michelle., Rust is actually a part of this project, it’s suppose to happen and enhance the cans as they age. However you can use something like Rustoleum which slows down the rusting process. You would do that first before painting. I put plastic inserts into the cans that I don’t want to rust, the rest I just let them rust, thanks for watching! Joan 🙂
@kimszalay2626 Жыл бұрын
Could i decopage onto a stepping stone and then seal?
@JoanMarieDomino Жыл бұрын
Yes. You would need to seal it very well with a waterproof uva sealant. I think Rustoleum makes one but you can also ask at a hardware store. If it rains a lot it or sits in water, damp soil, it may not hold up. You can try. - Joan
@idahoe75817 күн бұрын
Do you need to prime the inside and outside of the raw can first? Cheers from Australia.

You should paint the can before adding napkin. If you mean preventing rust from a live plant or being outdoors then spray Rustoleum on the inside and outside of the can first!- Joan 🙂
