It's actually not that hard. I just did it, took me 1 hour while drinking a glass of whiskey and taking pictures so I know for sure where the screws belong :D

just did this mod. Anyone thinking of trying this, when you're sliding the plastic piece over the wand it helps to widen the plastic bit with penknife and sandpaper. I tried using lubricants and a towel but I still couldn't get it on.

Does the steam wand stay in place when you move it left and right? or does it have some wiggle like loose?

How you manage to froth? Have the same wand but its only heating not frothing.

Wow!!! Amazing. Definitely not me. Well above my pay grade. Need to ask people to upgrade it. But that has to wait as I just got a stirring wand from from old Kickstarter programme (a new one coming) for this. If that failed £40 to go.

The part where I needed to reattach the rubber part back onto the steam wand, and the part when you want to put back the inner part back into the casing because wires might be tangled or attached in the wrong order.

I have the Ec385b I was thinking of modifying the wand like yours but some people say when doing this to the 385 u need to by new clips as they are different to the 380 any suggestions as I don't no what clips to buy and don't want to take it apart before having the replacement clips at hand?

I did not purchase any clips, the parts fit fine with my EC685

Ok, so my machine doesn't have the same kind of clips around the water tubes on the grouphead. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get them off...let alone how to explain how they are different. Ugh. So I noticed you seem to have taken the casing off the original steam wand, which I did as well. But now the silicone piece blows off...but I'm noticing you seem to have tied yours on...was that working ok?

Hey! I just did this in my EC685 as well. How do I make sure the steaming function is on “Cappuccino” mode rather than “Hot Milk”? The original wand had 2 options. Want to make sure I’m getting steam rather than just heating up the milk.

You don't have "modes" in the modified steam wand. The "modes" on the original steam wand are artificial. In order for you to steam cappuccino milk, you'll have to learn how to use an actual steam wand. I do not recommend modifying it if you don't know how to do so.

i just reinsalled the rancillio wand but the cinch clamp is loose and my machine is leaking ;__; any tips to fix this?

@@johnmurphy2655 I got chu I found a site that basically tells you what parts you could order- I unfortunately broke my connector so I had to replace it (pretty thin for plastic to break- let me grab the link for you;)

@@johnmurphy2655 and the clips name are cinch clamps / PEX clamps, and when you search this items, search the model name infront and then add cinch clamps// I unfortunately used zipties but it still didn't work for my machines
