Just wanted to tell you that your videos on board texture and live reads has helped my game quite a bit. I feel a lot more confident when I sit down at the tables. I've been able to minimise the losses and maximise the better spots. Thanks Doug.

JJ: The preflop call by MP was good if he can be fairly sure there won't be a 3bet behind him. If not, it needs to be folded unless in LP or BB. 54dd: I would have let this one go from earlier than LJ. A good player is going to have a narrower range than you and he's IP. AP I'm x-folding flop or betting larger OOP. Again, AP, I probably bet that turn when the 2 brings a gutshot. TT: I think you bluffed the best hand. AJdd: Villain made a polarization error on the river. Good call. 99: Be careful range betting MW, especially OOP. (Your visual showed you were MP and villain was HJ.) You explained that the players call a lot early and then fold too much late, and if that's the case, go for it.

A big thanks to you, Doug. Your vlog has helped my game considerably. My mantra at the table is "What would Doug do?" I feel like I have the edge over my opponents at the $2/3 level. I will say, though, it seems players down here in San Diego are stickier than the people at Capitol. Maybe it's because your $1/3 game plays more like a $2/5? Hopefully next time you make it down here, I'll feel up to the $2/5 you play down here.

Still considering the AJ diamond, with a J, 4 ,3 flop and the 7 turn. 5,6 seems just as probable as your opponent has a J with a weaker kicker. 16 combos of 5,6. 4 are suited, most likely if 5,6. A J with a K, 2 suited combos. J with a Q, or a 10 suited combos makes calling a pot sized wager break even at best. Hope your read gives you an edge in close spots

Sometimes poker is boring. Love the commentary especially about playing against people with different skill levels. You’ll have to point out the good player to me next time since I don’t play at Capitol often enough to figure that out very easily.

On the 1010 hand… When you lead turn? Are you bluffing, or betting for value/protection? I think any hands that beat us probably arent folding…? They probably dont have a Jack, or over pair, since the flop checked through, but they very much could have a King and I dont see a King folding here… On your checklist, you have “dont bluff into strong ranges”, I think the 3 bettor could easily have AK here, after 3 betting pre and checking a Jack high flop. His range looks pretty strong to me…? Then with 99 on A88… Is this value or a bluff? An Ace isnt folding, nor is an 8 obviously… 99 does need protection against overcards, so betting is fine, but would you consider your bet a bluff? Or a value bet? Fwiw, I watch your vlogs every week and think you are a very good player, I’m just curious as to your thinking, so I can improve my own game.

My bet was to deny equity to weak draws and over cards. I am the only one that can rep a flush, my only concern is the deep stack hitting a K. I would rather take the lead than try to pick off a possible bluff.

How difficult is it for you when you know your opponents so well a capital casino to play at different casinos. Is your win rate as good as your home base.

I don't like the KQ bet on A76, multiway. Your analysis boils down, this opponent is too wide and will fold under pressure BUT, people love to limp call suited Ax, and also pocket pairs like 66/77. KQ just has bad equity multiway against those ranges, and you can just check in position to realize and try to hit a K or a Q. If you are bluffing with KQ here, you are just bluffing with like every non-paired hand, which is just way too many, and K high may still be good there. I would much prefer to bluff hands like 89/9T/8Ts that are drawing to the nuts.
@dougmccuskerpoker
@dougmccuskerpoker 4 ай бұрын
I would agree that it’s better to bluff with some outs that can beat an A if called. First player was obviously giving up, second player floated often. His call seemed very weak, so when the board paired I followed through. I wouldn’t take this line with a normal opponent.
@TheNow_Now
@TheNow_Now 4 ай бұрын
The way too big raise with AA just illustrates why this huge raise size is terrible. people only do it with good hands, so its easy to put opponents on ranges. If he had raise a normal amount $10 to $15, then you would have 3b with JJ, and he could have 4b and would have won the pot preflop or postflop. Instead, he played a boated pot oop, on a terrible board for his obviously telegraphed range.
@dougmccuskerpoker
@dougmccuskerpoker 4 ай бұрын
I always try to keep my raises the same size for the reasons you mentioned. I do use a larger standard size when stacks are deep. I think his biggest error was overplaying his hand after the flop and again on the river.
