Human beings yearn to live forever. But our only hope is some kind of non-physical reality like a personal God, alternative God, or cosmic consciousness. What would be the nature of such immortality?

It is interesting to see the response by so many being a negative one. The lowest common dominator of truth is faith. We can discuss many truths without compromising ones faith. It's how we learn and grow closer to a better understanding of ourselves.

I don't understand "The lowest common denominator of truth is faith." What does that mean? Can you explain please? Also how can there be "Many truths"? Is 1+1=2 (in base 10) or could it also be something else say 68.3? I'd be happy to hear some clarification. Thanks in advance.

what are you all intellectuals objecting to about this video ?

Well wise ones speak because they have something to say, and ignorant ones speak because they have to say something. Thats why they have to object to things they havent experienced, because it is not the truth for them. But they have to say something what so ever.

How do I unsubscribe from these narcissistic comments. Deepak has some interesting philosophical points of view. There's no need for such rudeness and disrespect. What he is postulating is quite reasonable and logically consistent, even if it is not framed scientifically, or in any way empirically falsifiable. It is at the very least, rational. He doesn't contradict himself or present any paradoxical arguments that would be self refuting. Thank you for this interview series. It was very educational.

The best response I've ever heard to the afterlife question. To know that we are incapable of knowing the expanded awareness that awaits each of us is a blissful space which I've been led to by Ramana Maharshi and Deepak Chopra.

I do not know Deepak Chopra but what he says about source of suffering is an eye opener for me. What they discuss here is not sience. They discuss life, death and life after death. It is just very strange for me that everything what Deepak Chopra said fits perfectly into my life and seems to explain quite alot of it. So I do not understand the shitstorm.

I threw him out before as woo woo because I trusted Michael Shermer's judgments, but if you think about Deepak does have considerable points. Of course most of what he was saying regarding this topics are most likely already way too far for science to validate but regarding such i think his viewpoints can give insights into such areas of knowledge.

and Deepak believes his truth comes from Vedanta because he has been raised in this cultural environment. We in the West come from different perspectives. It IS evolution that will eventually take us to that ONE insight, necessary to take humanity to the next level.........

No. Evolution optimizes the ego. You cannot have complex life that is as large as the universe. There is a threshold arising from the amount of energy available for a certain volume as well as conditions required for it. So intelligent life has to localize and develop a stronger ego to survive.
@TheHeartphone

@@delq You have only to find out who you really are and that is the evolution of a human being during their lifetime. If you finally know, you're free to choose whether you still want that ego or not, but you are already free from it :)

Stop being an apologist for materialism. It is pathetic. Though I am probably as much against Chopra as you are, given the amount of meaningless bullshit he spews, I think it would be horrible for us to succumb to what defenders of the faith(s) are doing when they "investigate life's most important questions". I don't mean to insult you, but really once again, what you are doing is fuckin pathetic. Let's have an open discussion, a marketplace of ideas, instead of censorship of what you (and I) deem to be bullshit.

@MikeJunior94
@MikeJunior94 8 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what the apologists say. You are pretty much doing what Lee Strobel did in his Case for Christ and his "investigation". Only reporting what your side has to offer, whilst denying - from the getgo - whatever it is the other side has to mention. This is dogmatic, unreasonable and uncritical, no matter how much you appeal to sentences like "their side has no evidence". Though I agree their side has no evidence - make no mistake - that doesn't make a case for "us" to censor their arguments or opinions.
@JustinPerea
@JustinPerea 8 жыл бұрын
BecomingMike When did I ever call to censor anything? Sounds like you are putting words in my mouth. People can believe what ever they want. I have 24 hours in a day and I choose not to fill it with bull shit. Do you think me unsubscribing to a youtube channel is censoring? Because I'm not forcing anyone to do anything.

Well this pretty sums up where Deepak belongs. He is spiritual, religious figure. And now it's up to up, whether you are or not a religious person. Well you don't mock or make personal insults to Dalai Lama, or pope (or you do, but that's up to your standards what respect you pay to other people believes) The problem arises when he is trying to merge all of this with such a rigorous science as physics is. There is NO place for him here. This is the place he is pissing off so many people and why there is so much hatred of him. Nevertheless I blame him personally for all these hatred as he deliberately chose to confuse rigorous science with religious views on world. He is misleading, confusing and in many cases knowingly (ha ha consciously) lying to people. That way he is causing harm to religion and on equal part to science. There for I call bullshit on you Deepak.

To a straight forward question, Deepak totally act Kauss' s mind. Deepak is not from this planet. Even a brilliant nobel laureate scientist will go numb when Deepak speaks. Because he is way out of the topic being discussed. I understand what Hawkin says. I understand what Dawkins says. I understand what Minsky says. I understand what Fyenmenn says. But by God I fail to understand what Chopra says.

God is actually the only one that lets you understand what ever you hear, see, touch, smell, or experience in any way. What Deepak is saying that most of us, is identified with our body/mind-or ego. When you look deeper inside all we can find is infinite awareness or consciousness or God or call it what ever you want. When awareness spend some time investigating it self, you can find that it is ever present in the Now, that it is limitless, shapeless, omnipresent, and that it is our true identity. Thats why we are all One. And everything is One.Most of misunderstanding comes from the fact that we are searching to know God as some object, but truth is and always have been in front of eyes. The God is not a object to be known, it is the only subject that is knowing all objects, and by knowing them it creates them. Thats why we say that God is the creator of the universe. Trough history consciousness has been called God, and ego has been called Devil or Satan-the creator of suffering. All this is not about religion. It is about our true experience. Can there be a thought if there isnt a knowing of thought. Can there be a perception, without knowing of perception. Can there be anything with its own separate existence apart from awareness or consciousness. Consciousness is not only its content. It is primarily the knowing of content. (perceptions, feelings, thoughts, sensations) That is everything your, mine and everybody elses life is made of. And that is that what we call matter is made of. It is made out of consciousness. What we call matter is made of perception, sensation. Thats why science never found that what we call solid matter. All they found is energy. No particles. Except the consciousness observes it. Just wave of possibility. Hope I helped. But this knowledge cant be told. You must take the red pill and go down the rabbit hole for your self. Best of luck.

+Tapan Well if we realize that what there is no "I" percieving the "outside world" but there is only infinite awareness that wasnt born, doesnt die, doesnt ever change, and that is what we are, what part of our immortality is in question except the death of the body and ego (or in other words objects which are all in the constant flux of change). Is that a small thing to realize? No liberation comes out of that fact for you? Or is it still a thought for you and not realization you live by every day? Please I dont wont to judge or criticise you or play smart and argue I just wonder about your experience?Thanks...

Yes on the level of body/mind there is duality. There is me and there is you. Thats evident. But that level is the level of objects. All objects are under of effect of duality. And all objects on objective level are changing. Objects can be manifested from gross to subtle. Subtle are thoughts, feelings...gross are those what we call matter. And yes objects are not aware. They are in lack of better word "made out of awareness" but not aware. Awareness is the only thing that is aware and that awareness is the same when we are 2 or 5 or 85 years old. It doesnt change at all. If you take any thought in your mind, just take a look at it, you will see that what we call thought exist only because there is awareness which knows it and gives it "life". And if you ask anyone : " Are you aware" ? There can be no other answer but : " Yes". Awareness in deep sleep is witnessing only it self with no objects. But as soon as a dream arises the dream is known. When our mind and senses awake in the morning they are known also. And when you awake the thought "I" arises. In deep sleep there is no "I". If you take a good look at awareness or consciousness you will find that it has no limits. If it has no limits it can not be divided in 2 or for that matter in 7.2billion peaces. There is no your or mine awareness. There is just awareness as unified field in which all our separated minds and bodies dwell. Your mind doesnt know the content of my mind.But in the " background" the same awareness is the one who knows them. Actually what we call mind is just one thought at a time. We can not hold 2 thoughts at a same time in our mind. I am sorry for making my replies so long, but there is no easy way to put this insight into words which are limited by it self, and as such can be misunderstood easily. And English is not my native language so forgive me if some of the expressions I use are not spot on.
