Sadiq Khan has been accused of not taking knife crime “seriously” following a sword attack in east London.
A 14-year-old boy was killed and four people seriously injured during the incident in Hainault on Tuesday morning when a man armed with a sword went on the rampage.
Former Met Police detective Peter Bleklsey joins Talk’s Alex Phillips to discuss this further.

Because you, the public, have not allowed the police to do our job! Every time we stop search a young black man/child, you all gather round sticking phones in our faces shouting “he ain’t done nuffink”. Then post it online calling us bullies and corrupt! That is when we can actually get out of hopsital where we spend literally half our time sitting with mental health patients! I have literally spent full shifts on MANY occasions sitting in hospital. And the courts actually don’t give a sh*t! Plus, the Met has about 30,000 officers, of which there will only be about 8000-9000 on response duty at any one time. 8000 officers to police a city of 10 million people! 😂😂😂 The public have got the police force they wanted and have basically elected for!

We had a stabbing in Dagenham yesterday with shootings heard the 19 yr old is critical in hospital we had another assault the day before at Heathway shopping centre which is a no go now .And round the corner in Dagenham takeaway schoolkid stabbed.. it's constant .and we never hear from anyone who doesn't talk about the change here ..no policing as was promised a few weeks back .

Every child should do National Service! The Government needs to give back the Power of disciplining their children as there is a difference between abuse. A lot of young people are currently in Hostels placed there by Social Services because some young people don't listen to their parents. In a youth club, where I worked, with young White, Brown, Travellers, Asians, Moroccans, and Algerian young people girls and boys seemed to be reading the same book on how to behave, and a social media culture, all acted the same and have no individuality. Young people are spoiled with too much power. Stop and Search respectfully as not all young people are bad and cops need to change their narrative that "you fit a description" Just be honest that they are doing a search for weapons.

Hello from the U.S., I am so sorry to see this happening in your country! Unfortunately, knives are so prevalent and easy to get that this violence will be difficult to contain. The lawful citizens of the United States face dangers, also, however, our criminals love to use guns! Well, I am not opposed to lawful citizens having guns, there is Lil to deter criminals from obtaining them and using them in nefarious ways. The biggest problem here is Criminals, sometimes being arrested, but being let go by district attorneys and judges, refusing to press charges or being allowed by judges to walk free with little penalty! Both countries seem to be at the mercy of criminals and legal systems that do little to prevent or punish it! Thank you for your coverage, and good luck to all law abiding British citizens!
