The joy of this show is it doesn't got to be deep. It's just taking anime tropes dialing them up to 11 and tossing them into a blender. Sometimes the best shows are the ones where you can turn your brain off and just laugh.

Fun fact the title for this series in Japanese is “Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan” basically translates to in English as “Deer Girl Doesn’t Care as a Tiger Watches Her Intently” where Shika mean deer then adding noko which means person become deer girl, tan is an honorific use for girls, while Nokonoko means to be unconcerned, & Koshitantan is an idiom to watch closely like a tiger

It could be a decision based on how the anime is playing up the relationship between Nokotan and Koshitan, or perhaps the manga used more gender neutral language that was simply translated differently in the manga (Perhaps due to the size of the text box limiting how much could be included) or, if it was an unofficial translation, perhaps it was simply incorrect.

Some VA explainations for every one who wants to know.... Shikanoko noko VA is mugumi han (my fav) who also voiced Kana in oshi no ko and gon from hxh and kid kafka from kaiju no 08.... koshi torako VA is Saki fujita who also voiced ymir from AOT.... Koshi anos's VA is Rui tanaba who didn't voiced any very notable characters.....👍

I think Anko VA voiced one notable character. It is Mafuyu Asahina from game Hatsune Miku: Colorfull Stage, and the role she is playing here is widely different. As Anko she is crazy, but as Mafuyu she is lost girl with desire to disappear while living with manipulative mom. Both are quite complex characters ngl.

There's always 2 deer as witness to Nokotan, as there were at first 2 male witness (after the 2 female witnesses) at Jesus' ressurection, as for something to be legally witnessed there must be 2 male witnesses in those time. Koshitan is Nokotan's caretaker in the Deer Club, specifically outing her as a virgin to parallel the virgin Mary, as Koshi was the one who would help her come down into the world (from the power lines). The intense presense of blood, and the joyous deer at the site of Nokotan's blood in episode one is paralleling the idea that sinners who accept Jesus as a savior are covered in the blood of the slayed savior just as God covered Adam and Eve with skin clothes to cover their nakedness when they left the garden. Nokotan also quotes a proverb to Koshitan after deeming her a disciple, as Jesus would do with the 12. However instead of acting on human wisdom of self control and morality, Nokotan focuses on animalistic behaviors that deer would see as moral as she would be the deer version of Jesus. This is all an assumption based on the two episodes I've seen, I have not read the manga.
