@@Scruffy2k22 not even remotely true. Both albums were released in the U.S. and High N' Dry charted decently, though not spectacularly. Let it Go and Bringing on the Heartbreak had minor success. High N' Dry was re-released after Pyromania, but it did not chart higher than it's original release.

I was babysitting on a Saturday night in early 1989 and was on the phone with one of my friends while the two-year-old I watched was sleeping. We watched MTV together over the phone, and this video came on four times. (Yes, we were on the phone that long.) I'm always reminded of that when I hear this song all these years later.

Def Leppard were already huge after the album Pyromania, but Hysteria is the album that pushed Def Leppard into the stratosphere of pop rock. There were something like seven hits on this album. It was competing with Michael Jackson for number one. But the band hadn't released an album in over three years due to tragedies that would have ended most bands. What's really strange is how long it was just floating around the top 40 in the US and didn't take off for months...until Pour Some Sugar on Me was released as a single. That saw it go to number 1. I saw this tour "In the Round" back in '88. Tesla opened. Those two bands have been close friends every since that tour.

The Album this song is from is called "Hysteria" and it was recorded between 1984 and 1987. Some of the songs on this album eluded to issues that people that grew up during the cold war area in the 80's dealt with. Though the songs themselves may not be about the specific subjects. For instance Rocket, Gods of War, Armageddon it, and the title track Hysteria all would be of interest to a 80s kid because of the space race, the cold war, and the extensive news coverage. Hysteria is a love song, Rocket is kind of an homage to some of the great bands in rock, Armageddon it is a party song, but God of War is a political song and includes actual audio clips from Ronald Reagan and Omar Khadafi. So yes Armageddon it is a play on words, and is a light hearted party song, but in the 80s kids and adults were worried about Nuclear Armageddon constantly. Just as a for instance the small little town I grew up in would have nuclear warning drills. Where we had 10 seconds to get under our desk, another 10 seconds we had to remain quiet, then 10 seconds to line up in a straight line . Once we were lined up we had to walk quiety in line with our teacher to our gym which was considered a bomb shelter.

I'm not sure why they called this "Armageddon It" cos he's really saying "I'm-a Gettin It". Leave it to Lex to catch that one right off the bat! :-D The lyrics prove this. I guess "Armageddon" infused into everything was trendy at the time or something, lol. Brad killed me with "you arm is gettin it", LOL!! Sounds like what many teenage boys with hormone-fueled impulses dealt with!

Yes, it’s a play on words. It’s basically about a girl that has everything (money, looks, etc.) and likes to tease the boys. But is she getting it? And if she’s not she can come and get it from me.
