To believe that just because su-30mki have huge rcs and IR signature and hence it has no future is not right, one needs to look no further than feb27 post balakot air skrimish incident where a single su-30mki was able to dodge multiple aim-120 amraam rounds which very few any other aircrafts can claim such record by combination of EW measures and superb maneurablity.

Some inaccuracies here, IR tracking is very range limited even the best liquid cooled IRST cannot do over 100 km because of inverse square law. It is not a big problem for MKI but radar is a problem. As a matter of fact, IRST sensor in aircraft cannot lock in, the ir missile seeker has to lock but an aircraft radar can lock in an enemy without the missile xband seeker locking in before launch.

Informative video as always, the thing about flanker is that both India and China uses them as a missile truck to achieve air superiority in conjunction with other fighters with relatively small RCS and IR profile. The problem comes when a small nation with handful of fighters uses flankers as their main offensive aircraft.

Saying that Rafale's weapons payload & range are comparable to SU-30MKI is misleading. The max range quoted for Western fighters is with external fuel tanks, which doesn't allow them to carry as many weapons, while the max payload figure is given without any external fuel tanks, which means that they can't reach the max quoted range. This is deliberate obfuscation by Western marketing. Western fighters can't achieve max range with max payload. Su-30MKI's max range is typically given with full internal fuel.

Su 30 is now old technology, tejas in far better su 30 in terms of technology.

That was a Chinese jet copy of su 30. Not orginal su 30

IAF has decided to upgrade SU30 so that it continues to use it till 2040 onwards. They have also looking for more to take care of the losses. So, I believe there is a reason for IAF is doing that. They know what is right. So, I hope we can be rest assured about this Aircraft.

The flanker is an IR candle, it flies like a banner, blah blah blah....... doesn't the same logic apply to F 15 or for that matter even F16 ?

F15 has a very high RCS as well, approximately 25 m^2. Heavy weight fighters are designed to carry multiple payloads of varying degrees in large numbers. In that role su-30 mki is rightly called "missile truck".

Cant we reduced heat signature upto some extent using paints...and there i one ther thing thing..the infrared signature of mki in the videos is much lesser than that of the Chinese one...is coz usa greater quality FLIR or Chinese substandard metallurgy ?

F 15s are also missile truck but designs relatively better than Flankers and have better air intakes

Back when IAF purchased Su 30 MKI, our air force was focussed on 4th generation capabilities, like manoeuvrability, etc. Su 30 MKI is very manoeuvrable and has good 4th generation capabilities but in terms of 4++ and 5th generation criteria a small Radar Cross Section (RCS) is vital, and Su-30 has not only a large IR image but more worryingly, a large RCS, meaning it can be easily targeted from long range by radar guided missiles.
