What matters or *"the important part is"* is that these are "sortie" or "Sally Forth weapons" and not schwerepunkt *breakthrough* weapons as by way of example Nazi 3rd Reich Germany developed with their Stug 3 *assault vehicle* or "breaching weapon" to provide a breakthrough through heavy fortifications and minefields which could then be exploited by causing chaos in rear areas. My understanding is that Ukraine has so far only received the 6x6 far less capable variant than the 8x8 perhaps in order for those involved to familiarize themselves with the platform and its proper use ("doctrine") and should be noted this is still simply artillery no matter how advanced and is not shall we say "rocket science" let alone drone warfare as has been let loose upon the vast steppes and Battle Space of all of Southern Russia to include one imagines the Caucuses, Belarus and even Kazahkstan as well...so truly vast in every way and ironically so vast as to make Battles of Manouver very difficult as A: this is a truly vast space as large as an entire Continent but also B: because of space based optics very difficult to manouver without being noticed, seen, observed etc. and thus be made vulnerable to devastating counter battery fire. By way of example putting the driver and artillery experts in the front of the vehicle obviously the most vulnerable point is clearly in error for an actual combat situation involving Russia. In short that area needs to be eliminated and replaced with some form of protection and autonomy to correctly manifest this as a "sally" sortie as effective or "new doctine" as it were.

Interesting system. They need to completely automate the ammo handling, so both projectiles and charges can get from the side storage to the autoloading mechanism without having the crew do it manually. This way the crew can stay in the armored can, and the crew can be reduced. Having the crew outside the cab to fire the gun is the main weak point of this system.

Too much automation, it's very bad. First of all, weapons should be simple and reliable so that they can be repaired as quickly as possible. And then any failure and the whole system will break down, and there is no way to charge manually. Funny.

Very expensive state of the art artillery system with zero protection for the crew against mortar explosions or bomburst from enemy artillery. I still prefer the latest G-6 system from Denel Armscor of South Africa. Unfortunately Denel is currently a pie in the sky busy to fall down without a parashute.

Absolutely no protection for the crew. History says, that's a bad idea.

Cesar is slow and you can still charge with the help of staff who are out which is a danger to the staff. In Sweden, we laugh at Denmark who chose to buy something that the M109 is much better at

Great Howitzer and the French always make ground breaking weapons to bad they adopted the HK 416 because i think something completly diferent was about to hit the world. But this 8x8 truck design is not ideal try to be so cool that looks ridicolous Ugly the 6x6 is not the ideal truck to but is much more better, just use a Tatra normal armour front or a MAN

The prodution rate is ridicolous low! I dont know why this truck design with a cannon that was ground breaking at the time, Nexter is so slow to produce more Caesar that they are loosing hundreds of units to other companies because competion is already full speed, how can a huge company that merge with KMW only buil 30 or 40 or less a year they are building 2 dozens a year ridicolous
