I keep coming back to this series to reinforce these fundamentals. It is well worth watching multiple times.

Honestly I thought I was antitalent for A-A but this helped and explained alot of my mistakes. Not that they will go away now but I now have opportunity to practise this

Great info as always but please can you either do a video or point me to one that explains using the lift vector correctly. I have a general understanding of what it is and how to use it but would like some information to reinforce the idea of how to use it. Once again great content big thumbs up.

Hi Mark, in this context the phrase ‘lift vector’ is used as a short-hand to describe the plane of the aircraft’s motion. In high performance aircraft like fighters, particularly when they are performing at the limits of their envelope, the lift vector is simply considered to be straight ‘up’, out of the top of the aircraft, whatever it’s orientation in 3D space. If the Bandit is anywhere on that plane then they are considered to be on your lift vector, so directly above your HUD centre or (in aircraft with vertical fins like the F-16) directly above your fin. Effectively, if you are moving your head straight up to see them, then no matter how far you are craning it the Bandit is on your lift vector in these aircraft.
