Nice Demo. Thanks. If somebody wants to use degassed solvent for any reaction with prolonged heating, vacuum should be released by flushing argon or nitrogen gas inside the flask instead of air. This way the solvent stay free from air for a longer time. Happy reactions!

When used properly, 1/2 square of Parafilm would have been sufficient for this application. Parafilm is intended to be STRETCHED to create a seal.

The stir bar is made of magnetic material. A moving magnetic field is created from the heat plate using a rotating magnet or alternating field windings. The magnetic field then moves the stir bar.
