In this lesson, I will walk you through the Da Vinci Eye AR app - davincieye.sjv.io/damJv7 exploring how this can be used for our awesome art community- I'll share all my tips and tricks to make this process as easy as possible! The app is really straightforward to use and I’m excited by the possibilities.

I can’t thank you more for doing this video. I was so stressed and near to tears trying to work this out. The how to do video on the Da Vinci app didn’t help me at all and I ended up having to ditching it….. Here’s a huge hug for you my dear for showing me how to! Blessings x ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thanks for the demo and tips. I more generally do photographic work. I’ve been requested to do a hand drawn portrait and I am quiet rusty at it since I have not done that kind of work in over 35 years. I have been looking at Da Vinci eye for awhile as well as other iOS apps. Da Vinci seems to work really well when there is a lot of distance between the iPhone and canvas for large pieces; but, I struggle with it when the size of the drawing needs to be small because Apple Pencil appears as a big drawing tool compared to the lines to be drawn. I am going to keep searching though until I find what I need. I switched away from gooseneck iPhone holders because there is just too much wooble with them and went with one that was sturdier suggested by Da Vinci Eye. (I wobble enough without the paid for help 😄)

How big can you make your drawing? I’m working on something for a school play and need to do it on bulletin board paper or poster board. This is a very helpful tutorial. Thank you so much!

Thank you for watching and your question. You are limited by how high above you can get your phone above your drawing surface- in my experience I can get about 16”x20” on my desk. If you want to do a bulletin board you may want to look at the DaVinci Eye Mural app. I haven’t used it but I know it is made for really large art

How large does your anchor need to be? Any other requirements for the anchor? Well done, very helpful!

Hi there only requires one edge of the anchor to be 2.5” if I remember right. Thanks for watching!

I found your video on the app. Thank you! I’m trying to use a glass, but I find that extremely awkward, especially since it’s hard to figure out how to get the size to fit my paper. I just ordered a holder that sets my camera higher, and I hope that helps. I’m not bad at drawing, just mostly out of practice. I love watercolor, so I’m tracing to watercolor paper. I’ve been trying DaVinci Eye on copy paper, and I think it’s hard! Is this something that takes some practice. I have the 7 day free trial, and I’m questioning my ability to use this app.

Welcome! Yes having a holder that keeps your phone steady is really important. It does have a bit of a learning curve- you are training your eyes to follow the reference and your hand /pencil to filler the image in the screen. It gets easier each time you practice with it. I really like using the AR mode with an anchor as I can shift my drawing surface to suit my hand

I ordered the smaller of the two stands they recommended because it wasn’t overly expensive, and what’s a little more money when it comes to art!!! I’m looking forward to seeing what else you have on your channel.

Where do you get the anchor?

You make the anchor by clicking the Draw button top right of the screen, select the AR Mode button, click Tools, AR then the plus in the ⭕️ circle to make an anchor then follow the instructions. Once you have an anchor the app will recognize it automatically when it is on your art surface. Hope that helps

the ancho is a small card that you scribble on and take of picture of wit the app. you enter the size of the card and then clip it to the top of your drawing or painting surface and it locks the orientation of your phone image and the drawing surface. Then you can move your phone around or the drawing surface around and everything stays in Sync.

Which phone holder are you using? I bought the one with the feet that DaVini recommended, and it’s junk. I have an iPhone Pro Max that just barely fits (I had to remove the case-not easy), and the bottom is crooked so one side of the foldout feet is sitting a good half inch off the table. It wasn’t expensive, but I’ll pay more for good quality.

I would contact Da Vinci Eye customer service- I have one of the stands that has the swing out legs and the telescopic arm in the middle. I have the iPhone 13 mini and it fits in the holder just fine. My phones have always been on the smaller size though.

@@DeliberatelyCreative Thank you! I contacted DaVinci (exceptional customer service) and ended up getting a replacement through Amazon. This one is much better. I do have the largest size iPhone, so I ordered a separate holder that will work better for me. Someone recommended it in the Amazon ratings for the stand.

Nope as long as you are using the AR mode with an anchor image you can move your paper as you want!

Unfortunately it doesn't work well when you create landscape Paintings. The frame of the app is always portrait. I saw trying to set it up horizontally bubthe picture goes the other way :-)
