The tip in the commend made me realise why it was not working with my MB air. Thanks! I'd suggest adding a note in the video also when you say that it only supports HDMI with Macbook (I guess that's possible in youtube), since I didn't read the description until I saw someone thanking you about that note update. Hi Top Skills, the Dell D6000 should be able to output to two monitors the DP and HDMI. Just checking up the XPS 15 9560 power requirements and looks like the 60W is enough to power it so yes the Dell D6000 can charge up your laptop as well.

Quick question, guys. Are you still able to use the Macbook Pro in "Sleep" mode when you connect with 2 external monitors? I have 2 external (HP) monitors and I have been trying to get my MBP to work with my DellD3100 for a while. Thanks for the vid! I have a 2021 MacBook Air (running Monterey) and I've set up 2 monitors (Dell) with the Dell D6000 docking station. It's working great but the only problem is, I can't get the camera on one of the monitors to work. The monitor is a Dell 24 Monitor for video conference P2418HZm and I can't seem to get the laptop to recognise the monitor's camera (the Mac camera is the default cam obviously). For both monitors I'm using DisplayPort cables, could that be the problem? Any advice would be much appreciated thanks!

what if you just want your macbook pro to work with this on a single display, with no multiple screen extensions. I just want the traditional setup where I can close the laptop, put it to the side and have a single display on the desktop monitor. My issue right now is that its only working as a screen extension and when I close the laptop lid, I lose desktop monitor display altogether (like sleep mode). Do I need an extra hdmi connection to the macbook into the dock to do that?

Hi I have a macbook pro 2016 (with high sierra macOS 10.13.6, and a d6000 docking station. I downloaded displaylink 4.3.1 which seems to be in line with the high sierra, but still the macbook pro docking station does not recognize the screens with hdmi (it reads the keyboard, and i allowed the displaylink via privacy). Can you suggest me a solution please?

Hi, unfortunately the D6000 seems not to be working with the Macbook Air 2020. When connecting the USB-C Cable, MacOSX (10.15.6) disables the USB Port due to the high Power Consumption of the D6000 :-(

The displaylink manager will just not recognize the station.. I have updated the firmware, I have tried using an USB hub to connect the station using the usb type b, nor of the things are working, I can see the dock in the sys info tho, but the displaylink manager not. Any idea?

I have one Monitor conected via HDMI to Mac mini m1. The other monitor is connected via Display Port in the D6000 dock. After every reboot it doesn't detect the monitor connected to the Dock. If I take the USB C Cable off and reconnect, it works. Is there a way to resolve this issue?

Hi Rudy B, yes both will work with the D6000. Just make sure you install the displaylink drivers on both the latitude 7490 and the 13" MBP.

I'm having the same issue. Except, yesterday afternoon when I set it up it worked when I was testing. I then rewired everything to be in a more optimal position on my desk and now it won't work. I've rewired multiple times to match what I did originally, but no luck. Then it flickered and worked for 15 minutes this morning, but now isn't working. So isn't seeming dependable. I'm on a 2017 Macbook Pro

You can connect this dock to most brands of laptops, as long as you have admin rights to install DisplayLink drivers which s required to make this dock to work properly. It runs off 130W or above Dell power adapter. I'm Aussie Chinese :).

Hi Erica, there is a number of differences, the main one is that the WD19S is a native USB-C dock so it doesn't really require drivers so most of it is plug and play, you might have to install audio drivers but that's about it, while on audio the WD19S doesn't have a headphone jack on it, the D6000 does. Also the WD19S can provide up to 130W power to a laptop. The D6000 is universal dock so you need to install DisplayLink drivers for the dock to work. It will only supply up to 65W to a laptop. Are you running windows laptop or macbook?

Hi @Jai, the dock will not work directly out of the box you will unfortunely need to install the displaylink manager app (this also includes the drivers). You should be able to ask your company IT to install it for you, it's not an unknown application in enterprise environment.

Jesse after installing the Display Link driver you can get all three display ports (both dp and 1 hdmi) all working at the same time for the MacBook Pro so you would have 3 external monitors plus the built in screen, total of 4 screens display with this dock. This is now a fantastic dock for the macbook pro!

Hi Jonedog, yes this dock is able to run 2 separate monitors in extended desktop mode, make sure you install the DisplayLink drivers and open up the Displaylink Manager for it to all work.

does in any way make ur graphics better at all.. or in reality makes it weaker since its outputing to several monitor..

In any case outputting to several monitor will make the graphics weaker because the CPU or GPU has to work harder for higher resolutions. In this case using displaylink drivers then it would be CPU but in reality it makes my eyes better so I don't have to strain my eyes so much on small built-in LCD screen and also can work on multiple windows/applications better =).

The D6000 will work for the MBP 2013, just make sure you install the Displaylink drivers and make sure the displaylink manager is open to fire up the dual monitor display mode.

Quick Question, my wife just hooked her HP Laptop up to this and we added 2 monitors. This Dock seems to have Audio Speaker inside the box that works well. Can you confirm this, and does it also have a microphone??? Seems to be working really nicely.

Hi @John Justice, I wasn't aware the Dell D6000 dock has internal speaker. The units I have doesn't have any speaker too and I just checked the Dell documentation and there isn't mention of speaker just audio jack. So I would be bold enough to say it doesn't have microphone. Would the audio be coming out of one of the monitors?

I’ve been trying to make this work with a MBP 16 2019 and have had much luck. I was able to get it to extend to two external monitors but only after restarting/resetting SMC. It stays on fine but after a while it crashes hard. I’ve disconnected everything from it now.

Do you have access to a Windows computer? If so try updating the D6000 firmware to the latest one it could stablise it. www.dell.com/support/home/au/en/aubsd1/product-support/product/dell-universal-dock-d6000/drivers (the one you are after is Dell Universal Dock (D6000) Firmware Update Utility)

I have the same issue with mac pro as you have in the video, only HDMI works for my mac pro. I downloaded the displaylink manager and checked the security & Privacy, still couldn't get it work. Anyone can help?

For anyone who has the same issue, uninstall the displaylink manager, and reinstall again. Note: only connect the docker station after you reinstall and restart.

For some reason my displays will not work, I am using the 2 Display ports as my monitors I mostly use them for network admin stuff when I work from home. Was hoping it would work with the MacBook Pro, looks like it's going back. I did install the drivers as well. Wonder if they made different D6000's

Sorry to hear that your one failed you. Did you manage to update the firmware of the D6000 as well, you do need a windows computer to update the dock's firmware as there is no Mac version of it. This has help some cases.

Carlos Ulloa I have same issue, but I realized that Apple was blocking DisplayLink software due to security, go into settings and allow the software. it will work. I have three dell monitors connected to my MacBook Pro with Mojave.

Hello from Italy. If I undestood correctly, if I use this dock with my Inspiron 15 7000 wich has a NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 discrete graphic card and which has a thunderbolt usb c port, said dock won't charge the laptop and I will be forced to provide power to the laptop via its power brick.

Hi koshiroku, that would be correct, the D6000 dock won't provide enough power to your USB-C port as it is limited to 65W. You will need to look for a thunderbolt dock like the WD19TB to provide the 90W or 130W that is required for the Geforce discrete graphics you have in your Inspiron.

I've checked Dell's compatibility chart and Ispiron line is not listed but the Vostro 7590 model is and this model is virtually identical to Inspiron 15 7000 (7590). What are your thoughts about it? All you have to do is download the driver for the Dell Dock to your Mac

THanks very much, indeed you are right, it is the DisplayLink drivers. Also make sure you open up the Displaylink Manager too for multi-monitor support

Hi Matias, oO that's a laptop I haven't seen for long time, if you can install the DisplayLink drivers for the operating system you running then yes I think it will work for your HP 8460p. My suggestion is to try install the drivers (www.displaylink.com/downloads/windows , follow the other tabs for the other types of operating systems) first now before you look at purchasing it, if can install you can run it.

The Dell D6000 is happy to charge the MBP13 since it provides 65W output.

Helpful review, if I could add some constructive criticism though it would be to try be more confident, there are parts where you kind of get into it more and there is a good flow but there are parts which seems like you are panicking over the sentence you are about to say next, you seem like you are doing a mental prep which is slowing down your current sentence. I might be just projecting because that is what causes me trouble when I know I am being recorded. Anyway hope that helps.

Great to hear that, I haven’t boot up my Mac for a while to update the Displaylink drivers but one of my subcriber contacted me by IG and mention that there is a new Displaylink manager app, it might be required to be running in the background to have Displaylink more stable for multi display.

It’s a matter of which version of MacOSX you are running as on the 2012 MBP if DisplayLink drivers available for it or not. I can see they have up to 10.6 snow leopard but I have not tried displaylink drivers older than 10.11. If it does work please note it will not charge your MBP via USB-A port and I would assume it would support maximum of two monitors if it works.

For the many computers I have tested with this dock I haven't notice much latency in windows, most of the latency if you notice was mostly due to trying to drive large resolutions (4k or UltrawideQHD) on triple monitor setups but most laptops without graphics card will have a bit of latency even with native video output.

Get a mic, doesn't matter if it's cheap - get it very close to your mouth. Bad sound is the first mistake people make.

Thanks mate, I have learnt a little audio editing since making this video and also replaced the faulty audio cable between the mic receiver and camera. that was giving me unwanted nasty audio noise. Plus I've been working on my voice projection and speaking tone as it was identified as a weakness =). Hope it has improved on my current and future videos for you.
