Do you think $1875 (US) is a good price for it (but 1440 QHD display instead of 1080 FHD)? Your video is the only one that I could really find that has the 3070 TI, all others are of last year's model.

Could you make a video what Dell did with their latest 1.8-1.9 firmware updates making the laptop performance worse and how to fix it?

Can you test 5520 with monitor thorough TB4 and DP1.4 PLZ? I want to know that does this laptop supports GSYNC or dGPU over TB4.

great video! But what r u gonna do with throttle stop on the old g15? Isn’t the cpu locked? I have the same one but slightly newer which came with an i5 10500h for the same price and an gtx 1650, and I can’t change any voltages

I own a Dell G5 SE from 2020 and I'll have to say that the Dell machines are good from the hardware side. The software though are an absolute nightmare. They tend to somehow ruin an otherwise perfectly working machine. The Gaming Laptop Mod Discord Server that I joined helped me resolve 99% of the issues with my machine. And yes the inverted motherboard design on the G15 series is to make your life a lot harder when trying to repaste or repad.

What is the contrast ratio and thermals ?

Hello there ! First of all, amazing vid keep the good work 👏 🙌. I have a question. I'm actually planning to buy a laptop with an i7 12700H and rtx 3060. I have 3 laptops in mind: dell g15 5520, lenovo legion 5 or asus tuf gaming f15. Which one should i choose considering that i'm an engineering sudent and part time gamer ?

i have the dell g15 but its rtx 3060 and its very good like so good does not heat up with the thermal cooling in it and mine has the 165 hz refresh rate i reccomend u guys to buy it :)

How did you buy this configuration witout the "Obsidian Black Special Edition" color/design? When I select RTX 3070Ti on Dell website,it automaticly selects the "Obsidian Black Special Edition" color/design.Thank you.

I got the same exact specs almost over a week ago. Unfortunatly I cannot add another SSD since the slot was removed by Dell. Also I am planning to redo the thermal paste and see if it affects the thermals in this machine. I feel the temps are a bit on the higher side for a laptop out of the box or is it just me since this is my first gaming laptop! At the moment, I have disabled turbo boost and the CPU and GPU temps are around 60c but the graphics of course will take a hit. It is a temporary solution until I change the paste and hopefully will help lower the temps when turbo boost is enabled.

I saw your notification and I thought NuclearNotebook was the headline for this laptop lol. I don't know how Dell manage to always put their laptops on high temps even when thermal capabilities are constraints. It was fine on their Inspiron 7000 series from 2016 but when they switched to the G series everything became a hot mess. They could've at least give better thermal headroom or reduce power performance on the laptops since turbo boosting the CPU's doesn't give an extra performance uplifts anyways.

I note that you said this laptop has a G-Sync screen. I own the same one but don’t think it has a G-Sync screen, otherwise Dell would have shouted out about the G-Sync from the top of their roof. How do you check this?

Would lenovo legion with ryzen 7 and 3070 beat this or gp76 with i7 and 3070 or this is better than both of this machine

I just got the same spec but with 3060 6GB (150W). Performance has surprised me, it is so strong value/performance. I have no issues with termal throttle. In LoL GPU on maxed out settings stays arpund 55 celsius and in Fortnite around 85. CPU tends to get quite hot, up to 100, but it is normal controlled and you cannot feel that on your keyboard much, only if you check temps in the dashboard. Fans are quite. I like it a lot 👍

But no g-sync settings on Nvidia Control Panel's display section.

I bought an SE G15 that was specced out with a 3060, 11800h, 360hz 1080p display and an RGB keyboard but even after updating to all the latest software and bios and drivers and what not, I still experienced severe FPS drops in gaming, a weird static issue with the trackpad when charging (not unusable but annoying), and too much heat for a bulky thing such as it was. Luckily Dell tech support was nice and they hooked me up with a replacement that had a more sturdy less wobbly screen (just something i noted as an indication of their qc), but apart from the less wobbly screen, everything else was the same right down to the frame drop issues and the trackpad's behavior when the laptop was being charged. Coming from a 10 year old ASUS laptop which was bought really cheap, I didn't feel like putting up with these niggles so just returned it for a full refund. Dell customer support certainly is nice but the product no matter how cool or subtle or alienware-ish you think it looks, is actually pretty awful. Hope they've improved things on the 2022 model.

Hey! I have the g15 5521 special edition, 3070 Ti, i7 12th gen. 1440p at 240 Htz. I noticed yesterday that my cpu is hitting 100 C which is the max and it throttles only one game it seems. SMITE. it will drop down to 35 fps and it’s just horrendous. I just bought a laptop cooler for the bottom and am hoping it will help. I’m not sure if I already burned the thermal paste even though it just started yesterday. Thank you.

Where did you grab this latop from? I've been to the dell website and they still only have the old 3060s available on the AU outlet. Although they've got one 3070ti available in their refurbished section *face palm* I'm running an old 960m has been a great machine, but I'm looking to upgrade soon and really appreciate the reviews. Alienware have put me off with the lack of customisation internally and a lack of a numpad which I use for work and what not, and my wifes recent laptop with a 2060 inside gets ridiculously hot which doesn't do well in the NQ summer, a lot of these gaming laptops have gone thin? Which confuses me greatly, give me a thicc laptop. It sits at home most of the time and only moves when I head out to friends in a local town to game with them. Looking forward to when you open it up.
