The really impressive part was Sorin knowing that the laptop should not cycle/loop when trying to start. This is what real experience is about. Your instincts say something, but the evidence points to another way, so you follow the evidence despite your instincts. You can (and will, sometimes) be wrong.

Nice work, Sorin. I have seen a lot of gaming laptops looping when not using their own charger. It seems to be needed because of the higher power requirements of the laptop. When using your power supply they won't boot because of the lack of power.

Hello. I'm watching from Korea. I have a question for you. After connecting the laptop dc charging terminal, + terminal resistance? What do I do when I put it somewhere and check if there is any part that generates heat? I have a broken laptop now, so I changed the MOSFET recklessly, but the symptoms are not resolved and I'm frustrated, so I'm looking for a video of the teacher. Equipment includes a fan, an iron, a DC power supply, and a thermal imaging camera.

If my google pixel phone is only taking in 0.470A when charging, do I just need to jump it with a power supply? (The current is not jumping, it’s at a steady 0.470A) Thank you

Laptop makers need to protect the CPU & CHIPSET, a simple zener diode protection circuit to drop voltage to ground if the core voltage goes too high, it is less then 10c in parts.
@orange11squares
@orange11squares 2 ай бұрын
i don't think you can use zenner diodes, bc the voltage vcore is PWM, it is actually going from 0 to 19V in a square wave, with low duty cycle(more time spent on the zero)

what is the point of shorting coil to ground?
@ljubopobric5385
@ljubopobric5385 2 ай бұрын
that way amps do not go to cpu and all the heat goes to shorted mosfet, protecting the cpu and you can better view on heated mosfet, it is hard sometimes to see because this mosfet are build for lots of amps and when you short output you can inject more amps without danger for cpu
@kepler104
@kepler104 2 ай бұрын
Creating a low resistance path for more current flow which will be easier to spot under thermal cam, since its does not have a dead short to ground it is only shorted to the main power input as Sorin stated.

Can you tell me what temp you use to remove mosfets? I watch many of your videos but you never mention it. I tried removing a mosfet but it requires much higher than expected temp or its just more difficult than it looks
@silviuguseila2552
@silviuguseila2552 2 ай бұрын
He has over 500 videos and he mentions temperature in a lot of them. You did not watch that many... You could also buy a board preheater to heat the board from below, to help achieve the needed temp faster, particularly with gaming laptops that have a lot of copper mass so the heat is dissipated. Sorin has a heating mat that he used in a few videos but he says "I always forget I have it"
@bettergamingchairwins2442

@@silviuguseila2552 I didn't say I watched all of them, I started watching every video of his since the past 1-2 months. In no single video has he ever spoke about temps of removing mosfets or else I wouldn't have asked, smartass. And yeah, I do remember him using a little SMD heating plate recently in a video, that is a good idea. Not sure if I will do it though since the AC to DC plastic port is right by the mosfet I need to fix

I am surprised there is incentive for them (Dell and Huawei) to use the MOSFETs with fault protection. Very few defective laptops with this fault get repaired and those who are repaired are repaired by people like Sorin, If a dead laptop is returned to Dell in warranty they will just replace the motherboard, and probably sell the defective motherboard to a recycling company, noone at dell will attempt board level repairs, I do not think.
