Good job! These excellent instructions worked for my 3531 as well. TY! I expected a substantially faster boot up. I've heard boot time is as fast as 6 seconds with a SSD. Mine was less than a minute, and that's a lot longer than 6 seconds. I do believe it was a faster boot time than with the old hard drive.

Thank you! I kept getting errors because of my hard drive so I cleaned it and put it back together and it running fast now. If I upgrade my hard drive to a 1tb 2.5 sata hard drive we I experience any difficulties?

Sounds like the drive has failed, so I'd replace it.

You could remove the optical drive and fit the HDD in a optical bay caddy.

I normally use True Image to clone the contents of the old drive across: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gLxkZseezdm1g2g.html Combined with a basic USB 3.0 SATA caddy.

@@BrueComputing i took out the old hard drive i don't know if its broken but i bought a docking station and want to see if i can recover my data that way i just never done this before so i don't know what I'm doing

If the drive is faulty then you may struggle to get much from it. If its in good condition then you should just be able to copy stuff across via Windows Explorer.

Well if it has a disk reader you could swap that out for another hard drive

No, processor is soldered to the mainboard.

If it is a regular SATA HDD of the right thickness then it should work fine.

No, DDR3 and DDR4 are not interchangeable.
