Crystal clear instructions! Thanks so much! It took me 15 minutes and I'm looking at my repaired screen as I write! One tip to future followers... Replacing the hinges at the end is easier if the laptop is closed, held vertically with hinges on top. Insert each hinge from the outside with smooth curved side going into the opening and beveled side uppermost. Gently push down till it clicks, then open laptop and push down on the screen-side of the hinge till it clicks. You may have to close the laptop and push from the back for clicks again, but this is much simpler than trying to get the hinges in from the open screen side.

Hey ratholeproductions, I watched several how-to videos on how to swap out a laptop screen on the Dell Inspiron 15-3537/3521/5537/5521 model. Yours was by far the clearest in terms of "how-to", showing the process clearly step by step. I followed it step by step to success. The guitar pick tip for getting the bezel off was really cool. I borrowed a pick from my neighbor. So, your process saved me at least $230, maybe $280, on having it fixed at a repair shop. That kind of expense would have made me want to just buy a new computer, because my Dell Inspiron is five years old, though it seems to have no other problems just now. So, Thank you for forestalling my having to spend about $500 or $600 on a new one, when all I do is check email and browse the internet and word processing. Again, my gratitude!

Thank you. The instructions on the Dell site have you taking the entire laptop apart. This worked. My model is different because I have a touch screen. There's no bezel. It's actually rubber trim going around the edge of the touchscreen. Some of mine crumbled off because the laptop is 9 years old. Be careful because there's wires connecting to the touch screen for the camera and the screen. The LCD screen has 2 tabs on top and 2 tabs on bottom with two holes on each tab. They connect to the laptop with black screws. Don't undo any silver screws! Mine connected via the inside holes of the tabs. This video shows the outside holes. The hardest part is the hinge covers. I couldn't figure it out and ended up breaking mine but I found some on eBay for $7. Be careful with the screwdriver on that because there are wires going through the hinges on both sides. But other than that it's fixed my laptop. No more pink lines and half-frozen screen. Great video!

I appreciate that you showed what the screen looked like. My daughter's Inspiron 15 3521 is very similar looking. Also I will be using this video as my tutorial once I get a replacement screen. I watched several videos, some seemed too "forced" and others were playing it too safe by basically disassembling everything. Thank you for finding that middle ground.

I have one of these. My mom bought it in 2013 for $1200 because her first computer, a Dell inspiron 1545, had stopped working, and needed one for college at the time. She stopped using it after I screwed up her windows installation (I was young at the time.) I'm using it now for video editing and various other tasks.

Wow. Finally found a video that answered what I needed although not on purpose. See, my hinge works just fine. The cover is just missing. (Bought used) so seems like I don't have to open it up. I just need to get the part and snap it on. EVERY SINGLE VIDEO ADDRESSES THE THE HINGE RAIL/SCREEN AND NOT THE COVER! I guess it's too simple of a fix? I just want to be sure I can snap it on and not mess it up or have to go and ask to remove a bunch of things for it. Its also like 10$+ and only comes in pairs of two it seems so yah. Would like to confirm.

Hi, I recently cracked my screen, and I just used these instructions to replace it (THANK YOU!!!). I now hear the 8 beeps upon start up. I read that this means there's a display issue. I double checked that I connected the new screen. Do you have any troubleshooting advice?

Thanks. This helped me replace my screen. I found it best to take the old one out before buying a new one to verify the PN. Some of these are not interchangeable or have 30 pin or 40 pin connectors.

can someone help me.. I have problem 1 year still i cant find solution.. i have laptop dell 3537 and cant install amd driver, just intel hd..... but i want to play better games with amd because amd is 2GB and intel hd is 1gb... when i install driver for amd i get black screen when log in to windows maybe 2 to 3 minutes is ok then black screen...i turn offf all sleep mode etc but still have some issue i made million problem solving things i found on forums and still nothing...?? does someone have same laptop and if have and dont have this problem please tell me the steps what drivers and where from you download to make mine good.. i will pay money

Do you have a video on how to change a screen that's touch screen? I have this exact laptop but it's touch screen. Is it all the same? My laptop is working but it will randomly get where your using it and the screen will shake like crazy for a bit and then stop. I think my son may have dropped it. It doesn't do it all the time though.

Hey Great video. Went to Staples they were going to charge me $369.00. Not complaining they have to make a profit to keep the doors open, i just didn't have the money to pay someone else to fix. Watching your video helped a lot and got it done in 30 minutes. I did break the tits of the 1 cover pieces that covers the hinges. Do you have any extra to sell or can you tell me were to find so I can buy one. Thanks again for the help.

You don't need to remove the hinge tabs/covers!!! I ended up breaking the ones on the back, and the bezel came off fine without touching the ones on the front. Thanks for the bad advice!

worst screen of this laptop !!! The screen quality is pathetic in fit and finish !! Whoever designed this to lock the screen with small plastic tabs came up with the worst idea !! The screen gets pressure lines from plastic cover holding the screen !! An LED screen could have done better . A LCD screen is a design defect for this laptop !!
