This video outlines the process of replacing the battery in a Dell XPS 13. The laptop would work only with the AC power cord plugged in and there was a flashing amber light at the front of the unit when the AC power cord was attached.
There were no ways visible to disable the battery operation within the BIOS prior to servicing. If you see one, please do that first before disassembly.

Centre Latch - Philips screw at 0:40 - Dude, you saved me from snapping a customer's XPS 13 after removing the 8 x Torx screws!! Had no idea there was another screw under the Latch...and was wondering WHY the laptop cover wasn't coming off!! Huge thanks from London, England :-)))

Thank you so very much!!! I did it!!! Got the battery and small kit from Fixit in Germany and I changed the battery very carefully in 30 mins!!! Great Vid. 😇😇😇

Thanks for your tutorial. I'm dubious - my battery was working perfectly fine all morning and, suddenly, it's dead... and the laptop won't work unless plugged in. My laptop is a year old so either Dell create incredibly poor quality batteries or they deliberately disable the battery to force me to buy a replacement.

I think just bad luck. I bought mine in the US in 2019- worked okay until recently. I changed the battery and seems great now. Much cheaper that returning to Dell to repair.

Got about 5 yrs out of my Dell XPS 15 (Model: 9560). Bought back in Nov. 2017 and just this week replaced battery for first time. Still a good laptop for most things. $50.00 (USD) for a replacement battery. Not to bad, though what's interesting is the part number found on Dell's Self Service portal didn't match the model number when I actually opened up the laptop case. Not a big deal...just an observation.

Hi. I really found this video very useful. I just a question. I have Dell XPS 13 9350 that has a battery replacement part number JHXPY and I wanted to replace the battery. The seller I talked to only two different part number which are JD25G and PW23Y, are any of these two will work on my laptop? Thank You!

Can I just turn off the flashing amber light without replacing the battery? I don't intend to use the battery and mostly plug adapter.

Don’t think you can disable the light. You can use the plug without the battery though.

Does taking out cmos battery and putting back in will help in this blinking orange problem ? i have seen alot of videos in which they told it does. Please reply

It could. I’d suggest confirming the system battery isn’t the cause first by looking at the BIOS as I’ve shown. Minimizes some of the guessing.

@@DavidStumph I have xps 15 9560. After running the diagnostics from bios, i have error code : 2000-0132 i.e battery failure, but when i check the battery capacity with software it says it has 68% capacity still left. What should i do now??

Will it worth it to take out cmos battery like will it help? as taking it out in xps 15 is so much work. What do u suggest?

Plus the battery percentage is stuck at 75 % with a msg (Plugged in)
