What if they made the lights pixel like the hyundai ioniqs? I think that would really give an 80s look while sticking to today’s design philosophies and priorities. Also from one of the shots, the car does have square front lights already if you look closely. Obviously not as pronounced as the original but still there

As good of a design the real version is, I absolutely prefer yours. I wish the real one had more personality and quirks because that seems more like what the original DeLorean was about. Don't get me wrong the production design is beautiful, but it also looks like it could be presented as any number of brands coming out with a new EV, such as one from a Chinese company or even British. Just my thoughts 🤷‍♂️

Adding the Ioniq 5 lights, the black line on the side and the amber lower DRL's would be more than enough to make it quirky and good looking.

Love the quad lights. I agree. As someone who isn’t a super car guy, I always got enjoyment at being able to pick out cars/trucks in the night solely based on the front head lights.

Its crazy, I did a sketch over top of the new DeLorean when I saw it, and we had almost the same ideas: bring back the original grill/headlights, black bar at the side.

I love your videos and generally agree with your esthetic. Wish you were consulted before some of the brutish designs of today went forward! Funny how the "old" DeLorean still looks futuristic, even today. I think the new car is definitely a looker, but would have preferred a 2 seater with a smaller, tighter, mid section---but I just prefer smaller sports cars in general. I'm not sure why you need nod to 2+2 practicality for a limited edition sports car. Also, they missed an opportunity to have used stainless steel or another odd material. Again not for mass production, but if this is truly limited, why not? That said, if this thing would have come out before the electric car craze began, it would have been epic. As a car, very, very beautiful---perhaps the best looking electric so far, but I'm not sure it screams "DeLorean" enough. You have to look very closely to see the cues for a connection. Just my $.02 of course. I also would have added something in the interior switchgear that looks like a flux capacitor too, just to add a bit of whimsy.

I am obsessed with that rear shape tbh. I see a ton of comments saying thats the one part that they dont like but I think it was the best change. I like both the original and redesigned ones, but I'm not sure which one I like more.

I think this new design is absolutely disconnected with original one. It looks clumsy, side profile is like.. yet-another-McLaren. Angel Guerra did an excellent redesign of DeLorean - so spot on!

That's a nice electric sports car. I'm a big fan of futuristic technology stuff. That's like in sci fi movies. What if DeLorean will have electric sports police cars? Robocop will like to drive one.

Great video! Although I think this new "modern Delorean" design has completely missed the mark and so does not seem worthy of wearing the Delorean badging. For me, it is too refined... too polished, and does not seem to capture the spirit of the original car.. This new design has way too much "generic glass house bubble", the original is a stainless steel case with windows punched into it. For me, it is this, and the unusual proportions, break lines, stainless steel appearance and mini side-window opening that make the original the classic that it is! :( (I do not deny that this effort is a nice styling exercise though)... I do like your tweaks very much...they definitely head the design back in the right direction! :) Though when it comes down to "DeLorean cool factor", I think I would rather drive the original car.

The trapezoidal shape on the front of the original car depicted is a recent aftermarket license plate bracket and not a design element of the car. It's a coincidence that they put a similar shape on the "new" car.

The first time I saw the Lucid Air it made me think, "This is what a modern DMC could look like." What if you tried adding that bar design element that wraps across the hood of the car, above the head lights. And instead of the whole spelling of 'DELOREAN' across the grille, make it 'DMC.' I do enjoy where you're going with it. The front still doesn't feel quite right in my personal opinion, started to look really cool when you increased the black area of the grille, before the headlights were dropped in. That felt more reminiscent of the original Delorean, and I enjoyed it without the prominent orange turn signals. I think I would play around with making the dominant two head lights narrower. I would hit "Free Transform" grab the bottom of the box, and drag the pen up, and see how that feels. Adding the stripe across the side body was a smart move I thought. Hope they do reveal a more retro version at some point. Kinda like what Dodge has done with the modern Challenger. The concept art though for the Alpha 5 "UFF" that looks totally rad!!!! Great exploration! Giving this video a THUMBS UP !

I care very little about short lived brand like DeLorean, but I'm very hopeful that some day brands with enormous heritage like SAAB, Rover, Lotus, Lancia will be brought back, possibly in EV form.

The new DeLorean is Italdesign’s Da Vinci concept redone with a slight DMC sauce. The giant gullwing doors are nearly identical. But nothing wrong with that. The new one still has small rectangular headlights though. They hide under the drl strip.

Apparently the originals boxy look came from the body panels being stamped in stainless steel whish is notoriously difficult to press.

Shape reminds me of Eagle Talon. Melted look of the '90's. Taillight idea from Kia Stinger. Headlights in many States require a minimum height of 24 inches from the ground so maybe put them on top of the LED's.

The first run of the new DeLorean will be an 88 Limited Edition Run. So there is hope that they won’t stop there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the lower lights are part of the door lights so when its opened, it looks like the flux capacitor?

The one massive door is kinda quirky and has some personality to this car, but the steel car tried to be futuristic for its time, and this car is also trying to be futuristic. But the omega concept car has some quirky personality and does look like the future.

I have to say that I really like the way you have redone the front of the car and added the black line on the side of the car it really gives it a natural look to the original Delorean I think it would be nice to change the word Delorean and put the letters DMC on the front of the car.

You should do an AMC javelin redesign

The Delorean nameplate on the front needs to be moved down slightly. Not centered but just slightly down that would bring everything on the front together. Otherwise the lights look like they just hang down from the rest of the frontend. I would be interested in seeing your take on the rearend though. The current one looks too "Chiron-y"

Perfect style in new Aplha5. But i would keep just black line on side, it so great to see , there are already square headlights, but there are small. So i think in my dream, we need just keep black side bar.

I'd just swap the Delorean badge on the front for a DMC one, and put vertical separations in the rear lights, which are to me the most iconic bits the new doesn't have, and be happy with that I think. It can't look too much like the old one shape-wise without compromising on aerodynamics, which is a shame, but i get it. Maybe I'd put a cheeky flux capacitor homage in the cabin too

The simplest way to make the Alpha V a true Delorean: make it a stainless steel body. Simple as that.

Ouch! Your points on the redesign for the front in headlight assembly design are well taken. However extending the midline through the body past the A pillar, sort of turns this car into a Mitsubishi Eclipse. I do think your front end improvements are very important. I haven’t seen enough of your videos to determine if you use Blender at all. Would love like to see your 3-D model especially of the front end.

I don't like the black bar along the doors. My 4th gen camaro has a rubber piece there, I believe for door dings when other car doors open into it. People often remove it to clean the Camaro up. I would like to see you re design the 4th gen.

This is going into production, supposedly. They supposedly are not limiting it to 88, the 88 car is only for the alpha 5 version which is not able to be registered on the street. They've said they might do alpha 5, alpha 4, alpha 3, alpha 2, alpha 1, then the production version

The back of the new Delorean frustrates me, because it “almost”looks perfect. There’s so much empty space on those backlights, it’s like they forgot to put the rest of the lights on! Fill in that void with more light strips and boom you’ve perfected the design!

You’re right, it’s a beautiful car but it really doesn’t have much in terms of homage to its predecessor. I think they could have done a lot more to bring some of that 80s feel to this new one kind of like Ford did with the Bronco or Hyundai with the Ioniq 5

The new delorean is very reminiscent of the lucid Air objectively speaking I still wish it there was more 80s aesthetic in it's design I still prefer the original 1980s version it's gorgeous sorry I'm just biased 😅
