Why don't the manufacturers of these hobs provide us with a decent size termination box so crimp connections can be used. We always say whoever designed these things should come out to site and have a go then they will feel our pain!
@anthonygbaya8342 жыл бұрын
Maybe the hob kept popping up because the worktop was too thick for the clips. Should have tried using a multi-tool to trim mm by mm around the clips till they stayed in place or maybe the clips were adjustable?

Well worth replacing with an induction hob. Previous would have been wired by the kitchen fitter no doubt.

Gotta be super careful pushing hobs out of chipboard worktops because it takes the veneer clean off unless you depress all the clips first (speaking from experience)

Looks like the kitchen fitter wired the last one up del. I've never been a fan of them connections on hobs and having to wire twin and earth into they wholesaler stocks butile cable which comes in handy but only up to 6mm

Good video, hobs and ovens are always a pain, grease and crispy items under the rim. Connection blocks are often too small or just awkward to get cables into.

Last one I went to diagnose that had stopped working after only 1 month after the "manufacturers approved installer" had fitted it .... All terminal screws into the basic insulation at the outlet plate 🤦🏻♂️ Hob ignitor also screwed into it with CPC screwed to insulation so the spark didn't work 🥴🤦🏻♂️ Oven must have just made contact on just a few strands of the copper inside the plate terminal and then got too hot during use, melted the copper strand and then stopped working. And this workmanship by the manufacturers technicians!

did you check what the links are for, some hobs have links for diversity to prevent overload, so you can run it on a lower circuit rating. Why guess and just run with it?

I hate doing hobs and ovens, all that grease 😱. Why is it, you have a big appliance like an oven or hob and the smallest connection box you can imagine, it's not like they are right for space. I did one hob recently it needed a removable magnet to work, it was the control dial, it even has WiFi built in🙄

Another shoddy install by others and made better. However Manufacturers Instructions would say the hob and oven to be connected with a minimum cable specification of HO5-VVF/R so reconnection of the twin and earth is non compliant. Plus terminal connection is for round flex not flat.

you can’t use ferrules as they don’t fit nicely around the screw terminal. ring crimps would’ve been better however del didn’t have any that fit. the split is fine.

@@sw96lp You can't use ferrules reliably with 6mm or 10mm multi strand cable, they work loose after a while. Much better to do as Del did here.
