This video explains how to modify your existing RP51918 Cartridge to account for an incompetent plumber. It allows you full functionality of your valve without having to replumb the valve. Go to 3:50 if you want to see just the solution. Sorry about the format. It is all but impossible to correct without professional software. I am open to suggestions from anybody that can easily crop off the top and bottom of the video. Sorry for shaking, too much coffee, not enough food.

We had the exact same issue and the contractor broke the wall on the other side & extended the water pipe. Hand shower is still on the right but inside the wall the water’s coming out from the left hole. I wish he’d known this trick. Thanks for this video!!

What about taking a 6 way and having “stops” machined in. You will retain the position stops and handle won’t rotate 360 degrees. You could add epoxy and then mill/gind it out, actually you could use solder. Could be an option to be able to use port 3 when the install is tight on the left side

Just order 6 way trim it will fix the problem.

I got similar issues and used right for hand shower. My question is we can order 3 function valve and do same now item will be can use all 3 settings witch one right we blocked so other 2 will work instant of do cut inside. Is it right

I have ine and I figured it out. Maybe I can make a follow up video to this one and link it. it's the brown ceramic turnstile piece. it's made funky. its supposed to hook on the gold bar where it catches to turn, but it won't stay unless you glue it or something

I had the same thing happened to me I install it the valve said cap the port on the left hand side got to put the trim and it didn't work I order a 3 way dever instead of a 2 way

You are not going to believe I got a house and this valve ,it’s the one in the shower ,we only have hot water 😅. Can I replace the cartridge and use it as a shower (adjust temperature) Or Will I need to change also the valve ,thanks in advance.

Is there a 3 function cartridge you can buy that is reversed already? Employee installed the diverter wrong before tile and I’d like to replace the cartridge instead of modifying but can’t find any part numbers

I believe you are correct. For about $100 and awaiting shipping, you could instead swap the cartridge.

This would be an option if you have not completed your tile finish out. This video is for people who are unable to change out the valve without cutting into the wall. THank you for watching.
