A shower valve rough-in has a specific depth it needs to be set at so that the finished tile wall surface finishes flush with the plaster guard. If this measurement is off, the valve finish trim may not work. If the wall needs to be built out in order to make the tile plumb and flat, this can lead to the valve being set too deep or too far in when it comes time to install the trim plate. Some manufacturers sell extension kits, but sometimes they are not available. In this video we show how to bring the valve closer to the tiled surface.
