Be a plumbing gentleman and grease the nut that holds the cartridge in and also the set screw and handle and of coursethe cartridge. Things will come apart in 10 or 20 years

That lock nut/ring is always fun when you have to cut it because it's so old, and someone used pliers to put it on, and hope you don't ruin the threads of the diverter valve... I've done that twice. Not a fun day.

Before putting all the trim on turn on the water and check that cartridge for leaks.

It's not going to hurt a thing to tighten the locking nut down with Chanel locks

If I can't get that nut ring off I go straight into cutting it off. I allways have them rings on hand. In my past 7 of 10 are stuck.

Installed this valve last week but notice that the cold side has more volume pressure than the hot side when i shower. Is that a safety feature or is it a defect in the cartridge? I tried adjusting the cartridge but when I turn the handle all the way to hot the pressure is less than the cold side.

Typical delta shower valve. Installer followed the instructions, and now it sticks way too far out of the wall, to where the trim barely covers near the handle. It looks like ass. Don't use the black plastic trim piece to set you're depth, that's out way too far. Use a 1 x4 instead of a 2x4, thank me later. If you don't follow.my advice, you'll end up with that unsightly gap between the cylinder trim body and the handle. Not acceptable in my book.

That’s a load of crap for sure. Been using delta valves my entire career.,set a 2x6 block to back of a 2x4 wall and bam your good to go for most tile installations

@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher I'm doing it right now, and mocked it up putting all the trim on, it's out way too far for my liking, and the cylinder trim barely covers. If you look at the slight angle, you can see the plastic behind the base of the handle. That's way too far, in my opinion. Edit: following their instructions with the black plastic trim plate to set depth, puts the face of the handle out 4 inches from the finished wall... That is ridiculous, and it looks like crap. There is no reason for it to stick out that far. Most tile installations probably 7/8 - 1" from the studs, and I'm changing my stringer out to a 1x4.

@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher well, I appreciate that, it was very helpful. I don't care to have the plastic mixing valve visible under the handle on finish. On this particular model, I'll probably have to zip off some of the cylinder trim at the back
