I think the ending could’ve been better. Like with how Mei deals with her mom could’ve been more respectful instead of twerking in her face.

This movie could have been better if they went into the Mother’s side of the story. Encanto did family trauma much better. They hit the mark. Turning Red was missing something. It didn’t feel quite right. The last ten minutes of the movie had my attention more than the entirety. Not saying it’s a bad movie but I’m not saying it’s good either. Something needed to be added or explored more.

I dunno I feel Encanto didn't focus enough on Maribel And Maribel never tended to her own needs, her whole personality was looking out for everyone else which is why she was able to fix the family but still what's the message, give your entire life for a family who has ignored you and Maybe that'll fix it? I liked that this was Mei's story She learned to love herself outside of her family's expectations and built more trust with her mom and gained more freedom

@@heckandahalf1634 That’s how the ending of Encanto works, The family realises how much Mirabel has done for the family, and how she cared for more then others, she tried to make the family connections easier and get back together again. On the other hand, Mei tried to do the best for herself, she didn’t focus on others either. She still loves her friends and family. That’s how Encanto made the movie get together. Like a jigsaw puzzle. It just fit really nicely.

@@lucyyxoxo but that's exactly my point ? Who is Maribel outside of the family? That's her entire personality and focus and yes it worked beautifully in the movie. But I really appreciate that Turning Red flipped family tradition and let Mei be herself, it was really wonderful to see, maybe it was more relatable to me cus my gf is chinese and I wish she was able to express herself this freely and not constantly do everything for her family or to her family's expectations You also seem to forget that Mei wasn't able to go out to karaoke with her friends because of her duties to the temple, she also hid how much she loved 4town cus she knew her mom would disapprove she did so much for her family at just 13, this movie wasn't about family sacrifice it was about being yourself so I don't think it needed to focus on family trauma, plus we just got that movie with Encanto lol
