I was out riding Mount Rainier one day by myself. On the way down the mountain I got a little too close to an MC. The road captain respectfully motioned for me to back up. Few miles down the road we all stopped at the tavern and had beers together. What I have found from the MC world is that if you treat them good they will treat you better everything is about respect.

If you're a solo rider or lone wolf you should also know and understand what a road captain does. If you roll up on a pack, that road captain will be looking out for you too. He will get you safely positioned and safely past the pack. Knowing how to communicate with him helps everybody out here ride safe.

In my opinion the best setup for a large group of riders is a Road Captain leading the pack with a tailgunner bringing up the rear. It's even better if they have direct communication with headsets. He needs an advance rider at the end for him. Using signs is great but you need a good form of communication from rear to front. Using the Bluetooth headset is the way to go now and days. #RoadCaptain Great video . Road Captains have to put lots of map time before the ride. I have my old lady quiz me on the route before , how many miles to this turn , how many to that one. I had an old crusty RoadCaptain from another organization tell that I should always remember “your brother elected you not your GPS.” It’s words that I will forever live by.

A good road captain knows the value of a penny and what to use it for. The best road captains that inspection bikes always has a penny on them. It’s a major role in a club it’s also a role they don’t get the respect it deserves.

#Ghostin #Roadcapitan I am the road captain of my chapter. I have had to remove people from rides several times for not following directions and protocol. We use hand signals as well as throttle raps To communicate turns and obstacles. I also have a team of experienced road guards for the larger rides . We also run with two full trauma kits. I carry one and my tail gunner carries one just in case we are in the middle of nowhere and someone goes down. It has happened. The more organized and planned the better! Great video!

I’m a road captain for a coed riding club. Been doing this position even before I got the position. As I didn’t know any female riders for a while and men from multiple MCs would invite us to rides. So it left me as the only female and they put me in the front. Even ahead of a road captain or right next to the road captain. I learned a lot during this time. I have lead 3 bikes to over a 100 bikes as a road captain.

Great episode my brother. I don’t think road captains get the respect they should. A lot of clubs brush the capt off when in reality he is the most powerful person on the road like you said. A lot of people can learn from this episode. The capt is the guy who 9/10 times has been on the road the longest, has the most experience and likely is the best on 2s in your circle. Keep preaching GHOST! So much of what you say is common sense. Large groups are dangerous on the road and it is in everyone’s interest to move efficiently. Organization is the most efficient and safe to move groups of people from point a to point b. Getting everyone safely to the event makes it the best time for all. Not sitting around worrying if so and so will be all right or worse yet mourning someone. Whether you are MC OR NOT we all ride. That job is very underrated he gets us to where we need to be he knows we are only as fast as the slowest bike and can only go as far as the guy with the smallest gas tank if some one breaks down he has to make sure the frt. of the pack knows and check on that rider it’s a very underrated job

One of my best memories is when my husband would come home and say he was voted road captain.That is alot of work and devotion..He would plan it..but we always would let me ride it with me to make sure it was good..He always said 10 bikes or 1000 .I got to make sure they are safe..but I do know the road captain puts in his work..all the runs and events..Im a great grandma now..I love sharing my life stories.so much has changed threw the years..but one thing will never change the love for my husband and his club..PROPERTY OF MITCH

#Ghostin, Sose, my RC does it a bit different, the road captain plans the route, maybe even rides the route first to check it out. When we have the ride, the road captain leads the ride, and assigns the blockers as we go. The tailgunner keeps the group together, and puts the blockers in front of him/her at the tail end of the group. We are experimenting with electronic communication, so the Tailgunner can tell the road captain what is going on, we think this is a good safety measure for our rides.

He plans weekly rides as well and we'll run some fantastic roads. I assist him where im needed, check bikes for safety and make sure my brothers are good to go. I had a guy fix his clutch lever just to be safe. He dropped his bike and broke the mount. He used a strong tape to get him by. It was on there pretty good but why risk getting a brother or brothers hurt. Road captain's are good for any club in my opinion. Till next time

#Ghostin this is so effing true, I'm not a member but I ride and chill with an MC and let me tell you I fell back and got lost one day, the Road Captain not only found me but when we stopped to wait for the rest of the brothers he said "we never leave no one behind" when I ride with him I know we're all more than 100%. the Road Captain always checks his brothers in and out of the road. a very important position!
