Thank you! Yesterday, I pulled out my stack of pressed flowers and there were some successes and some failures. Or some do differently next time. Ie don’t use paper towels on most flowers. The texture of the towel is in the pressed flowers. I did pull out a couple to play with. A couple of Annabel hydrangea sections, a fern leaf and a yarrow leaf. I put them between acetate and then framed them with card stock. They look pretty good. Will make some cards out of them. Thank you for all of your tips! Oh and there is more time in the growing season to press lots more. A tip for you...... if you let the butterfly weed go to seed, It will reseed in other parts of your garden.

Love the videos... how long do you press the flowers before moving them to their holding book?

Hi Carla, it depends upon the botancial. Leaves and single petal flowers tend to dry the fastest. Generally speaking I rotate the paper sandwiches at least twice during the cycle and place them in dry books each time. Usually between 1.5 to 2 weeks I can think about putting then in the final dry book for storing until ready to use them in a project. Hi. About the flower you were asking about in this video... Maybe someone told you since you published, but just in case, it looks very much like Maiden's Wreath 'Francoa appendiculata'. If you had information that's it's something else, please let me know. I love it. might plant some in my garden.

Hi Zacky, YES!!! That is what it seems to be. It has grown in my mild marine envornment on the Oregon Coast for decades. I started with probalby a four inch pot and the clump has slowly spread to about three feet in diameter which is fine with me. It can be used for so many crafts like eco printing (flower and leaves), pressing and drying by silica gel or hanging upside down and so forth. Holds it color for a very long time and high up on my favorite plant list. Bonus, the bees, hummers and other insects love it: Francoa appendiculata Maiden's Wreath/Bridal Wreath Evergreen perennial. Native to South America. Large, glossy green, lobed leaves. Spikes of light pinkish-purple flowers appear in summer and rise above the foliage. Tolerates most soils. Moderate water needs once established. Hardy to 10°F. Botanical Name: Francoa appendiculata Common Name: Maiden's Wreath/Bridal Wreath Exposure: Light Shade www.perennials.com/plants/francoa-sonchifolia.html

What type of paper do you use?

Hi, really any smooth, absorbent paper can work. It is best if it is thicker than regular copy paper, but I also use copy paper for the top layer these days. The brownish paper in lots of my videos was perfect - but sadly the place where I purchased from is long out of business, and I don't have the wrapper to know what it is. Thank you for watching!
