HI, here I'm swapping the original 59L Camec water tank out for a new 82L tank. Hopefully this will help anyone considering the same swap with a few pointers on things you need to consider.

Useful tips, thanks for the show. Looking at this tank for my camper.

cheers Adam. I think these are under 95% of all vans and campers in Aus. Pretty good for the price too I think but not much competition out there. thanks for the comment mate

Thanks for the video - very helpful. I had a look at one of those tanks for my bus but I still can't understand the connections. The filler connection is only half way up the side of the tank..... Does this mean that it can only hold half of the tank capacity?
@DENMONKEY3 жыл бұрын
It is a bit weird. You just need pressure to fill above that point and make sure you're to breather hole is open. Then youre all good

any reason not extend the drain tap a bit further instead of crawl underneath?
@DENMONKEY5 жыл бұрын
No real reason other than wanting to keep it as protected as possible. I'm going to put some rubber around under the tank and the tap to protect it from stones etc. Also being a little fella, it's easy enough for me to reach under the van and get to it. I am going to put a tap on the front draw bar or the back bumper as well for easy access.

Looks like a decent watch you have there, what is it? By the way, bad Idea to use a piece of hose like that as the air vent. You want and exhaust 1 way valve., just screws into the top but doesn't let dirt and dust into your clean water.

cheers mate. she's a few years old now. It is the casio pgr 130t from their protrek series. The best thing about it, is it is solar powered. No bloody battery replacements all the time. thanks for the tip on the valve. hadn't considered that. but would a 1 way work ? it works as an overflow for me when filling, so needs to be able to work outwards and let air in when taking water from the tank. I really need to stick a sock or the like over it to stop dirt and the bugs trying to make a home in it.

Can I ask why you don’t use food grade hose to fill your tank. I found green hose leaves water with a terrible taste
@DENMONKEY4 жыл бұрын
The taste doesn't bother me but it's rare that I will drink from that water tank anyway. It's mainly used for washing dishes and the like.

@DENMONKEY3 жыл бұрын
Cheers David. I've noticed my breather up to has let go. So I need to drop it back down to check. I might stick a new one in whilst I'm there

Hi Mate, another interesting Video. As a former Jayco Technician I've fitted and repaired a few water tanks. Did you think about fitting a stone gaurd under the tank? Most of the modern vans have them now and it's just a bit of sheet bent up at the frount? And did you consider fitting a some sort of gauge to the tank? I fitted one of those hot water units to my sister's jayco camper. Well I just made a bracket for her to hang it out side and connect up. We haven't plumbed it into the sink yet but she said it was a fantastic upgrade. Look forward to that video. Cheers Tim. PS I love the dog helping out as usual....
@DENMONKEY6 жыл бұрын
cheers Tim. yes to pretty much all of that. I saw a video where the guy used some 6mm rubber to act as a guard but only for the connections as the end. I'm guessing it only has to be some thin sheet metal of some sort. I'll have to suss it out to figure how they mount it to the van. I'd like a gauge but I'm not sure it would be worth my effort for the amount of water I'd use. Although if I plumb up the water heater to the tank it would be more applicable. Can they be mounted in these tanks easily enough ? I have no idea how they're attached etc. From the experience I've had with it thus far, it a great piece of kit for the price. I will mount it the same way for the odd shower here and there. While typing that I just realised I could make up a set of hoses and connect it up to the drain hose i fitted on that side of the van. If I throw an anderson plug into the deal on the side to power a small pump it could just work. Thanks Tim, you're an ideas man. Re the dog, there's not stopping him being involved. He does get in the way at the most inopportune time but I can't hold that against him :)

hey mate im just wondering what size is your filller tank hose? thanks mate
@DENMONKEY5 жыл бұрын
Which part mate? The connection to the tank or just the diameter of the hose itself?

@@DENMONKEY sorry mate i read that wrong, the diameter of the hose sorry
@DENMONKEY5 жыл бұрын
mate, I haven't forgotten you. I'll try and get it this weekend. the tube running from the tank to the sink though is 13mm.
@daviddoppy41263 жыл бұрын
In with those water tanks they're not actually at that capacity your 50 l tank would have been originally 40 L I think from memory the 80 L tank is only like 60 l
@DENMONKEY3 жыл бұрын
Realistically, I never used all of the smaller tank. So the biggest one of still over kill for me. I pretty much only use it to wash up but I wanted the extra for once I get the hot shower set up finished. Then it will come in handy
