This complete visit to the Cliffs of Moher combines several earlier movies into one in-depth visit. You are going to discover the best way to visit the Cliffs of Moher along the wild west coast of Ireland, the country's most popular natural attraction - spectacular sea cliffs 700 feet high, dropping vertically into the Atlantic Ocean, with a trail along the edge and numerous vistas from which you can enjoy it.
We' re going to show you some of the best angles, with tips so that you can get the most out of your experience. Whether you're just watching it now, or hopefully, going there yourself in person. As you can see, it's an amazing destination.
Not only is it a visual feast but it's a real physical experience of being here at the edge of a cliff, and yes, you can go right up to the edge.
You need to be very careful. Don't get too close to the edge, and watch your footing, but you will be fine. Take your time. Sit down and soak in the view.
We're showing the vista from the south side of the visitor center and there's also the view from the north side of the visitor center, so you have two different angles to enjoy it from; and depending on the lighting and time of day, one angle is usually better than the other one. The most enjoyable strategy when visiting is be sure you have at least one hour, so that you can experience both viewpoints, starting at the visitor center then up the main steps, then later take a left and walk along the cliff.
On the map you'll see the route that most people start with, passing the visitor center and going up those stairs, and then head south where you get to walk along the cliff and get a different experience altogether, which is usually more spectacular than that first viewpoint.
We shall explain the details of this routing with these illustrated arrows, the blue arrow pointing up those main steps, and the red arrow pointing towards the cliff walk we will get to in a minute, but first let's take you up that main vista. It's a bit uphill, but there is an efficient series of steps and ramps that will bring you right up there, up to O'Brien's Tower.
From here you get a really commanding view looking at that classic lineup, right out of a postcard. However at midday, sometimes the lighting from this side is not so great. In late afternoon it's fine, but at midday when most people visit, you also want to go around to the south side.
Just continue along the path and you'll soon find better lighting at the cliff's edge.

Thank you for making this helpful video. I think it is a good guide for anyone planning to visit the Cliffs of Moher. I wish I saw this before I went because I visited it a couple weeks ago during my trip to Ireland and totally missed out on the southern side of the cliffs. That was what I was expecting, being able to be right by the cliff edge, but I went towards the north and didn't have time to go down the south side so I was a bit disappointed. Still spectacular views none-the-less, but it would have been even more amazing to get a chance to be by the cliff edge. Well, due to being limited on time, that could have hindered my experience too. I was with a group tour and we only had 1 hour and 1/2 there.

Wow! Totally amazing! I'm planning my 1st trip to a Ireland for my 50th birthday in March 2025. I hope I can plan it all out and I'm definitely going to the Cliffs. Trying to figure out where to stay, how to travel everywhere (thinking busses and trains mostly), and figure out if I can stay in Dublin and not rent a car and still be able to get everywhere or if I should get a car. We're coming from the USA. It's a lot to figure out!

Thanks for your comment. I was using an Osmo gimbal attached to a monopod, extending it out over the cliff while keeping my other eye on the path so I don't go over. It's an exciting shot!

Spent all day here today and I am really glad that it was not spoiled for me. We went the usual 1st choice to the right up to the castle and even down beyond there to steep stairs going down. Be VERY careful around here as you can easily slide of the cliff. Dont be stupid and stick your head over the edge, it can get windy suddenly and next thing.....just dont risk it its not worth it. Please be careful.

taxi from Galway, 140 euro one-way, then maybe no taxis waiting there to bring you back. Better to take one of the day-trips from Galway, google that

Because it is on the west coast, and you want good light, late afternoon would be best. Be sure to walk the full length as shown in the video for all the good views.

How many hours do you think need to plan for the cliffs of moher? I mean how much time will we spend there? Approximately
@denniscallan
@denniscallan Жыл бұрын
Three would be sufficient...one-hour roundtrip on the steep south side, then walk to the tower on the north end, and spend time in the display area, a mini-museum of natural history.

A STUNNING PLACE..but I wonder why a safety barrier has never been erected as so many have been killed there...Overall, 66 deaths occurred on or at the base of the Cliffs of Moher during the period 1993 through August 2017. In total, 18 (27.3%) of the victims were international visitors to Ireland, including 11 males (61.1%). The mean age of travellers (n = 17) was 34.2 years

Not for me that cliff walk. People has toppled over. Highest sea clifts in Europe not Moher Dennis, but Slieve league in Donegal, 1800 feet. Definitely not for me. Sea boat trip much better to admire from that level.
