I'm glad you said rosacea is a medical condition. Some members of my family act like my rosacea is no big deal and I should just live with it and stop worrying about it. They just don't understand the physical discomfort and emotional pain that I go through. I wish they could understand its a real medical condition and not just me making a fuss about nothing.

Exactly, I still doesn't know I got rosacea acne until I consult dermatologist, when my mom say it is just a normal breakout that every teen's ages will going through, and I almost give up on going to consult Dr when my mom say don't waste money on it, but gladly I did go and bring my mom tgt for consultation, and she only realized how bad situation I am going through(doesn't blame anyone,I still love my mum)

100% agree with you! Try The Ordinary skincare products specifically for rosacea. They are incredible products and they WORK!! Redness gone but you have to use it morning and night every day. Remember alcohol, caffeine and the SUN ☀ are our worst enemies. Just know these 3 things make a "flair" of the redness. However we do have to indulge at times 😊

i had the absolute worst rosacea and acne ever when I was like 15-16, I didn't realise how bad it was when I looked back because my parents were saying its normal and its puberty..(puberty f**cking sucked for me!) but then I remember by the time was 16 i was so insecure ,such low self esteem which I am still working on to this day I went to the doctor and they prescribed me benzyol peroxide. Used that for more than a year and it completely changed everything for me. Im 18 now and still do have redness I don't have scarring but I have soft skin and cut down on sugars.

I consider my rosacea to have cleared so sharing my experience. I had rosacea with red skin for 7 years, red pimples on cheeks and nose. Any product I would use would make me red, even those designed for sensitive skin. I adapted my skincare : oil cleansing, cerave cleanser, cerave moisturizer, physical sunscreen, but nothing changed. I tried : avoiding my triggers (helped a little), azaleic acid (worked but only at first), soolantra (worked, along with 3 sessions of pulse dye laser, the redness was much better, at least there were times when I wasn't red) . Recently, I had more and more heartburns and was diagnosed with Pylori bacteria, took the antibiotic treatment (with has metronidazole), and now my rosacea has cleared. Of course I still have sensitive skin but barely any pimple or redness. Dr Dray had mentioned the link between Pylori and rosacea in another video. Hope this helps someone !

I found your channel yesterday and I have been binge watching. I wish I would have started using sunscreen earlier in life but I don't leave the house without it on me now, with small bottles in my bag, and mineral powder for touch ups. I have rosacea and started getting the pimple like bumps about 20 years ago, it seems to flare up the most when there is a big temperature change. I have been using Renova a few times a week to help with the bumps and it doesn't really make the redness worse. My dermatologist has recommended the laser treatments for my broken capillaries so I might try that in fall. My face gets red very easily, when I'm working out people at the gym ask if i'm ok, they probably think I am on the verge of a heart attack with my red face. Thank you for all of the great information

Dr. Dray, I think you're awesome. I've seen almost all your videos and I've completely changed how I take care of my skin. I only wish that you had been around when I was very young and first dealing with rosacea and acne. Thanks to you, I look so much better. After my second child, my skin got so much worse. Just two years ago, my rosacea was really severe. My face was always bright red, I had a ton of bumps, inflammation, humongous pores, sagging jowls, deep nasolabial lines, and wrinkles. I have a very slim and fit body but my face looked like I was 60-year-old alcoholic with heart disease. Thanks to you, I now look like a completely different person. I just have a bit of redness on my cheeks which I'm okay with. I have no more bumps. My skin is extremely smooth and even and feels so soft, my pores are super tiny, and my face is tightened up all over. I just have a few wrinkles around my eyes -- which I think is appropriate for my age (turning 50). This sounds weird, but sometimes I can't stop looking at myself in the mirror and I think, is this really me? I think the retin-a was the most critical factor, but it was everything else. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

I'm constantly blown away by the abundance of reliable information about skin care products on all your videos; profound thanks! always referring my friends to your channel. The one question I had was whether exzema (SP, sorryI ) could lead to rosacea. I had childhood asthma which morphed into exzema and my dermatologist prescribed me a cortico-steroid cream that I used daily for 15 years, far too long. I have oily skin; it wasn't greasy, so it was my moisturizer. Eventually my skin rebelled and I very belatedly stopped using it. 15 yrs after that I was drinking heavily after the death of my parents with predictable results. Possibly other people with rosacea like me, experience an unpleasant sensation when eating a hot meal during the day; certainly any activity in warm/hot weather. One reason I'm such an avid swimmer is that the temperature of the water reduces this effect. Avoiding all alcohol was crucial of course. What I used to do was wash my face before a mid-day meal, which was not helpful. When, around Xmas 2018 I began a perfectly affordable skin care routine following your guidelines, everything changed. No more pins and needles when bending over a stove top etc. My face will go red when outside in hot weather despite sunscreen, hat, sunglasses; it's transitory, which is fine. Hope this helps someone else, and Dr. Dray, keeping making them videos!!!!! (And I know you won't approve of Avene products which are all slightly scented, but I do keep them around and they have an instant effect; I believe the entire line is for this problem. Tx again.

I went to a dermatologist a few weeks back and felt as if she didn't really help at all. She just gave me a list of cosmetics which help hide the redness. I felt like she didn't really try. So I did the research myself and found you on KZfaq and so glad I did! I got myself the CeraVe hydrating cleanser. I have a Neutrogena unscented face moisturizer for combo/ oily skin for night time. As well as the Olay complete sensitive with spf 30 for daytime. I realized the less stuff I put on my face, the less flare ups. I went through my cosmetics and got rid of anything containing fragrances which where irritating my skin! I feel so much better! My rosacea is mild but I get flare ups when it's too hot outside or if I'm overworking my body. I also noted to kick back on the sugary drinks and drink more water! Thank you for your tips and advice! ❤️❤️❤️

most useful video I've seen so far - to the point, clear, concise. Thank you. I have rosacea and I have been struggling for SO LONG to find a skincare routine (male / 38yrs old / redhead with light skin & redness from rosacea and sun damage from growing up in Africa ugh...odds feel stacked against me). So far the only face-wash/cleanser that doesn't piss off my rosacea is DOVE BEAUTY BARS or Cetaphil. I've been desperately trying to find a skincare routine that will work for me. One thing I finally figured out is to just IGNORE all the posts/blogs/ads I see for the new blahblah amazing wonderful skincare products for wrinkles/lines/better glow blahblahblah - they just won't work with my skin...I've accepted that I will not be able to follow a skincare routine that applies to people who don't have the holy-trifecta of skin challenges (rosacea/light-skinned/sun-damaged). What products would you recommend for repairing sun-damaged skin with rosacea? Any ideas? Thanks again for a great video! I've been watching rosacea videos all week and scouring the internet for products to help me improve the redness on my skin...........so far......DOVE and Cetaphil. Things that do NOT work for my skin: anything by NATURE REPUBLIC - nothing natural about their products (the name is misleading) and they are crammed with fragrances that sting/burn/trigger my skin. Wish I'd kept those receipts. Damn. LOL

I am using so many of the products recommended by Dr.Dray, and I thank you for the shopping trip to Walmart. I have been dealing with Rosacea for 10 yrs. I am taking daily antibiotics and have a gel antibiotic, but no other suggestions forthcoming from my male dermatologist. My last visit I told him I was doing better than I have been since the onset of the disease. I told him I had gone to Walmart with Dr Dray and purchased several products that have calmed my skin, replaced things upsetting it, and all were affordable. To be fair, he is more interested in treating my severe Psoriasis. Aren’t I a lucky woman? I have to really juggle the two conditions at times, but the Cerave HEALING cream is god sent over my topical medications. Question though. You say never Witch Hazel. There is one that has no alcohol, or fragrance, but has Aloe Vera in it. I thought it would be okay as a toner. Is it? I can clean my tweezers and other tools if it is too strong for my face. Thanks Dr. Dray. Love your help.

I purchased a red light from red light man. I swear it helps. My skin instantly feels better as soon as I light it up. Though I didn’t notice much change in my appearance. I used it nightly for a couple months. It did seem that I wasn’t having many flare ups but I wasn’t yet prepared to attributing any improvement to the light. Then I slacked off and had a flare up the next day. I noticed that if I skipped a night I’d have a flare up the next day. So now I used it nightly for a few more weeks and tried again. Now it seems if I skip I can go a couple days before the flare ups return. I’ve had rosacea for 30 years and never really identified all my triggers. So the red light has been very helpful. Plus I find using it enjoyable. Just thought I’d share my experience.

This was so helpful. I developed rosacea once I started using a retinoid at night and then applying Elta MD clear sunscreen during the day. I guess my skin became very sensitive after using a retinoid at night. When I applied my sunscreen in the morning, my skin would burn. I didn’t stop this routine for a couple of months and my rosacea just got worse. I wish I would have stopped once I felt the burning on my skin.

Hello Guys. Yes bro, go to a dermatologist. The earlier the better, ask you’re parents to make an appointment with your doctor so you can get recommended to a dermatologist(assuming you have health insurance). I waited for over a year until I finally went to a dermatologist because I thought it was acne, ask about a lotion called clindamycin, and for some medication called doxycycline hyclate. If you have similar symptoms, do it ASAP!

I've been to a couple of dermatologists and they gave me benzoxyl for my acne prone roseacea. It helped to eliminate the bumps but not the redness. Now I am using very clean products to gently clean and moisturize my skin thanks to you 💕 I have been using pure SheaButter as oil cleanser then CeraVe Foam Cleanser and for the humectant a mix of glycerin&hyaluronic acid&niacinamide serum that I make on my own from a local pharmacy brand (which is perfect since I dont include any essential oils or alcohol) and I use the CeraVe moisturizer as a thick layer of night mask before sleep. Nobody told me that I need to moisturize deeply into my skin. That's why it kept getting worse because since I have oily skin I was always drying it out and was always irritated. So I highly recommend everyone to first hydrate your skin as much as possible! After the irritation in my skin is calmed for good, I am planning for a chemical exfoliation in winter to get rid of the small bumps that is caused by dead skin that I can't exfoliate during roseacea ;')

My face, neck and chest were flushing in patches so bad, my primary care doc tested me for lupus. Turns out it’s rosacea. If I’m outside in the cold, and come into a warm room, that’s enough to fully set it off. It’s pretty intense. One thing that caused mine to flare terribly, for 6 months, was ingesting Splenda. So I suggest to anyone suffering this, to eliminate all artificial sweeteners, with the exception of stevia. I’m using the EltaMD tinted sunscreen, is that one you recommend?

Great video!! You gave a great list of flushing triggers, but left out one that's HUGE for me: fragrance in the environment. It's easy enough for me to avoid using fragranced products personally, but it's really really hard to avoid fragrance in the world. The other day I went to see my chiropractor, and he must have had a new deodorant on -- some men's deodorants are as scented as a cologne. I had a huge reaction while waiting for him to see me. His office has never smelled like that before, in many years of me seeing him (I wouldn't have seen him for all these years otherwise!) Or I was in a restaurant the other day with a friend, and everything was fine. Then a couple gets seated in the booth next to us, and I was smelling their perfume the rest of the meal. Or my Target just re-arranged their cleaning products and now all the Seventh Generation products are mixed in with the Tide and stuff. I have to hold my breath, run into the aisle, grab what I need and run away! Or you're in a public place and everything is fine, but you go into the restroom and get attacked with air freshener! I wish people realized how much distress fragrance can cause some of us.

I'm so glad I found your videos. Here's a challenge for you: I'm 58 with lifelong acne and undiagnosed rosacea. Do you have any videos that address aging acne-prone very sensitive skin (lifelong redhead) with rosacea? I use Cetaphil, but now I know that I haven't moisturized properly. I've always worn an spf15 chemical sunscreen/moisturizer during the day and stronger sunscreen on big sun days, recently Solbar 35. I have never been able to tolerate any benzoyl peroxide-my face burns and swells. I have used spot salicylic acid products and/or washes on pimples, but I'm seeing that this is a bad idea. I've used a sulfur spot acne cream, but it didn't work. I've used sulfur bar soap that irritated me terribly. Now I know not to use bar soap. After watching several of your videos, I'm going to an even gentler wash, an oil free moisturizer to my wet skin, and consistent proper sunscreens all the time. So I wonder how to address acne and rosacea at the same time. A dermatologist told me last year to use Differin, but he didn't mention anything about my redness and broken blood vessels. I will get in to see a dermatologist again, but I'm wondering if you have any general guidance. Is there a gentle sulfur wash you would recommend? Thank you for recommending such nice washes and moisturizers that don't break the bank. When I've gone the way of expensive cosmetic lines, their products haven't helped me. I'm also wondering if I should avoid the Neutrogena Hydro Boost.

@@Elliecharlie Thanks. Is it available by prescription only? Overall, I'm better. I've stopped using salicylic acid, and I'm tolerating a 4% benzoyl peroxide wash on my forehead at night.

I was diagnosed with rosacea/out having any family history of it or having any past history of skin issues... But my redness and bumpyness didn't come all at once...it all started with one side of the cheek...like 3 bumps, then 7 months later it grew into a huge red spotch, then another 3 months it traveled to the other side, and w/in 14 months both sides of my cheeks had red blotches. Rosacea doesn't' just do that. It's been 5 years and I don't have it come and go or have good days where it's less red. It's red all the time. I don't think people know what rosacea really is or what causes it...they're just guessing and shoving antibiotics into the person in hopes it helps them...even tho there is no infection. They don't check a person's hormones to see if that has something to do with it. Or do a small biopsy of the area.
