Alabama's Derrick Thomas has 5 sacks, 7 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a recovered fumble in the Crimson Tide's 30-10 win over Texas A&M in the 1988 "Hurricane Bowl." The game was originally scheduled for September 17 and moved to December 1 because of Hurricane Gilbert.

Damn! I knew Fowler had been around a while, but 88! Curry used the hurricane to avoid A&M in Sept bec AL's Qb was injured. There is a picture on 2 A&M students sitting in the empty stands that day Sept 17 and the sun is shinning. A&M is 150 miles from the Gulf.

He was unreal. But Bennett was a better all around player. But Derrick did have the best and quickest steps for an edge rusher I’ve ever seen.

There is a picture of Bennett standing next to Perkins on the sidelines cheering the team on. Damn Perkins (RIP) for leaving for Tampa when he did. Big things were fixing to happen.

Biscuit was incredible, just ask Steve Berlin. But he was not a better "all around" player. They both played OLB and DT was the best to ever do it. The only thing DT needed to be considered better than Lawrence Taylor was a seat belt.

@@brianroyster7510 yeah to me tho Derrick was just a edge rusher. Greatest ever but Bennet did it all. Poor Derrick. Died way too soon.

@@timtapscott8737 DT laid down his more than fair share of RB's. I got to meet DT in 92, at his physical peek. It was a charity golf event. Til this day I don't believe I have ever seen bigger arms on a human being. The dude was just massive. No way anybody supposed to be that big and that fast. Except Bo of course. I say all that to get here, where I say even with all the greatness of DT. Biscuit has the most legendary hit on a QB in Tide history. 1st ever Tide victory over ND and a Sports Center highlight hit that was shown regularly for 20 years. Never fail to wince when I see it.
