Surfskate. Longboard. Whatever you call it, the Derringer 28 is an all-around mini ripper, carving board with a fiberglass construction and our one-of-a-kind riser system. Shop the Derringer 28: originalskateboards.com/longb...
Bonus points for when you upgrade it with Scott's customizable grip pad and surfskate footstop.

God it brings me such joy seeing a new Original video posted. Even if its cold as hell out here, this shit still warms me up. Hope to see you again in the future, Scott! -Logan

Sounds like a plan dude - hope life is good. Hard to make content with everything locked up and maxed stress. Particularly with the new stuff that added an entirely additional project to my plate that DID NOT end up being possible to film for legal / patent reasons. I had wanted to create through the whole process... but laywers so nope. Anyway. Happy to have a board release video for the Derringer out there (it deserves it) and hopeful that being able to change anything about the footstop / grip pad in house will give me a creative outlet that doesn't require a 9 month ahead production commitment.

@@ScottImbrie hey if it's ever able to post after the patent has gone through, and proprietary issues are off the table, it'll make for great content! It's great seeing you do so much with CAD to progress the scene.

@@StucklnAWellpatents are as done as I can make them so anything and everything is on the table and can't be changed at this point. The whole idea was to pursue anything that gave the people riding the parts the power. Those holes up front accept 3mm grub screws of any length which puts you in charge of experimenting and reduces the importance of replacing the grip pad with whatever new-ness I came up with. After 20 years of being hung up and not able to make the changes in my head for manufacturing, logistics, or cost reasons I just wanted something where you guys and girls riding the boards could make MOST of those changes yourself. So thats what the patent is about, try to front load as much work as possible so that all the experimentation and changes can happen publicly with MANY of those experiments being possible by any rider any where. Hopefully I can work out one of the non-profit licenses that will let me share some more of the base models so that we aren't spending money and carbon shipping things around that could be printed, but for now I am just trying to get the idea out there and rolling forward on it's own. At least now there is no barrier between whatever CAD I have done and the world in general, where changes can happen from anywhere. That is very much not the case with every other skateboard product I have ever designed so I think this should be fun ride.

Hey Matt - all patents are done and filed so pretty much fire away on questions. The goal is to find people who want to work on this stuff so it's not just me. Obviously that counts everyone who has supported Original for so long, from the team to friends and family, with any of you guys still watching these videos included in that second set. Pretty much there is so much stuff here that needs to be drawn up and tested, which is really what I love, that some how the progression on the individual parts needs to include anyone and everyone riding them. The tiles can be replaced with different shapes (either with printed versions which really allow you to get creative with the final shape) or with alternately shaped / cut versions out of aluminum or whatever allow works for that board / application. Those holes up in the front of the pad are set to receive 3mm grub screws (although any 3mm screw will work) so you can adjust the vast majority of the shape to your own preference.... and hopefulyl share that with the rest of us... with zero CAD experience. A hex key and some screws, and go get em. That's sort of collective experimentation is why I took so long and front loaded the work on the patent. I tried to focus on the ideas that would enable connections with people who want to develop something in skate but don't have the resources etc etc. That places the project better on it's own outside of OS where you don't have to love the mini mega ramp video (I actually love it more now) to get behind it.

@@ScottImbrie Order has been placed!! I can't wait to get my hands on it! See what I can do with it and maybe work on some sort of design for it. It appears to have a couple extra holes for mounting on it, in the video it appears to have two open holes wonder what if it's possible to design some sort of nose guard for the front of the board just to protect it. If not maybe some sort of handle/protector for carrying it via subway or busses for city use. I have no idea my mind is just excited to ride it!!
@originalskateboards
@originalskateboards 6 ай бұрын
@@SuperSxeMattyep, there are two 10mm t-slot bars in the back that accept standardized hardware which allow development, by extension, of just about anything you want. Handles should be easy and if you get them done I would love to see them, I'm working on some stuff but I left the actual accessories out of the patent to selectively chose my contributions (while allowing fun stuff to be developed by anyone who wants to work on it). Another useful thing would simply be a break / running light for city riding. The bars in the back will let you make than and easily slide it on and off if you do. No clue what you guys will come up with but guaranteed it will be cooler than the pad itself (and shortened the patent substantially). Any accessory you make you are free to sell (and I would love to buy) as the accessory side of the mount is purposefully outside of my scope. I would love to find some license that lets people develop and print pads as well but from what I hear this can e problematic... and I've dealt with enough legalese lately to want to punt a license selection. Hopefully you aren't alone because I'm sick of working on this stuff by myself!

@originalskateboards 6 ай бұрын
For sure separate, and a separate project, actually I think they are up now but wanted to launch with a board and combo I knew worked and was smaller-ish. Small (and fast) is good when there is a lot to learn. Footstop is here: shop.originalskateboards.com/products/scotts-surfskate-footstop-inward-v1 for $6 but hasn't been extensively tested on anything beyond a Surfskate. Grip Pad is here, shop.originalskateboards.com/products/scotts-surfskate-grip-pad-6in-w-x-4-5in-l-x-0-55in-h-for-the-derringer-28-v1 small at 6.1x4.5 but bigger one should be done this week. If you have something in mind let me know. Filed and launched immediately so now we get to see if it all works beyond the Derringer together.

Hey dude, What's your order number and I'll take a look. Most of my time has been trouble shooting the mfg process on the grip pad this past two weeks but so far as I know everything has been going out normally, doesn't mean we didn't mess up but I was in the CS inbox yesterday and didn't see an email about anything missing. Let me know!
