Bunny shares some top tips on what she considers the most difficult - yet most important -part of designing a garden. Dividing the spaces. We catch up with her at a Client's garden where she is working on a new design. And she also shows examples of finished designs too.

A bit of demolition ahead at my place. I can see I need to change a window into french doors for access to an outdoor garden.. There's no getting around it! Great, interesting video again Bunny. You're such a brilliant presenter! Thanks a lot.

Thank you for doing these design courses. I truly wish I had the funds to hire a garden designer to design my garden, but it's just not a realistic possibility for me where I live. These videos are very helpful because they break it down into steps. Thanks again! You're always inspiring to watch!

This is why it pays to hire a professional landscape designer rather than doing things ourselves because they'll see possibilities the rest of us won't.
@achnix3167
@achnix3167 2 жыл бұрын
I think the issue is rather budgets. If you design your own garden you wouldnt necessarily consider hiring builder to raise or lower soil levels not even to mention glass barn doors and certainly not all at once. If those kind of projects would however be considered youd probably always seek professional advice even if just on the practical side.... Everything you see here costs several thousand pounds
@BarriosGroupie
@BarriosGroupie 2 жыл бұрын
@@achnix3167 It's more than that. Professional landscape designers know about the basics such as local soil type and climate, different garden styles, long term maintenance, light levels, creating a rhythm in a border, various tricks such as borrowing a view, having a point of focus, using geometry to alter the perceived dimensions of a garden etc. Most importantly, how practically useful a garden is to the owner. Also, they won't hold rigid conservative views of how a garden should look, nor will they be swayed by silly designs for the sake of being different to the neighbours that devalues the property.
@achnix3167
@achnix3167 2 жыл бұрын
@@BarriosGroupie i never said its the same ... The main difference imo is that they apply a concent which peoples usually dont do to the same extend when they design their own Garden... Soil type and plants would be the easiest thing to get right on your own... But again if i know im gonna spend 10-15k then of course id make a plan anf think of all the Details. Just less knowledge and experience... Then again if you know you pay that much then why not get a Designer as they are probably the cheapest part in the equation

You always make very inspiring and informative videos. I love your style! We're in the process of slowly transforming our big garden of mostly lawn and fence into different garden rooms. *Last spring we made a structured veggie/cutting garden, with a wide center gravel path, framed by an arch at either end - the one at the far end to become a Clematis 'grotto'. * This spring we planted a hornbeam hedge, in a slight s-shape, with an arch, and ordained the new room a 'moonlight/white garden. * With the last expanse of lawn, we've just finished a circular shaped deck, with two deck chairs, surrounded by an 'egg shaped' planting of tall grasses and butterfly plants (Oudolf style). Now, we have somewhere to sit and look out over a pretty, borrowed landscape. I find it's essential to divide a big garden up, to create a bit of adventure!

Bunny this is a very useful presentation - particularly when we get to see the "before" landscape while you guide us through what will be and why. I can have a hard time reconciling what I'm looking at now and what I'd like to see in the future - this causes me to work and think in a more piecemeal way. It does still work by trial and error - but your methods are clearly superior. Warmest thoughts Jennie

Tiny plot in Folkestone with chickens but still some great ideas about using space. Pressed 'pause' on the brief image of grey painted trellis on the back door of a stone home ( B. Guiness's home?) but wondered about a modification on my end of terrace front space. Laughed about not using the front door but at the same time, wondered about moving my side gate. Bunny - you have a T.V show waiting for you: 'Bunny Guiness in South Coast terraced gardens' (I'll message you my address any time you wish x ;))

I have a tree towering by my front door. I don't mind that it drips its leaves on the roof but I'm scared of having the tree attracting lighnting . In the other hand, I do have a swimming pool in the "back yard". I'm trying to find motives not to cut that tree! Dio you think the tree would "save" the swimming pool from the lightning , being the first place where they would land?
