Our porch needed a bench. I rectified the problem. Admittedly, the design probably works better as a coffee table. That said, it is made out of cherry wood and features lots of weird angles. Please watch, enjoy, subscribe and share. Thanks!

My favorite part was at the very end, when I realized that it was a demanding client, the Cat, who commissioned this piece. Pleasing such a client, is of the highest, most morally important, social responsibilities of an enlightened society, and one of it's "cool dudes"; right on up there with brewing great beer. You did well. You Cat has refined modern tastes. I look forward to more.

FWIW I really enjoy your choices with sound levels. The machine noise compared to the music is just right, just loud enough to hear the sound of the saw cutting the wood, but not overpowering. There is something about the sound of saw cutting wood that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

While starting out in woodworking it's best to pick a plan that complements your skill level. Have you made anything from wood before? If not, then pick out a very basic plan for your first project... Check out => t.co/oLg9l5gL3F

Chris, not everything's about time. It's more about approach, and the joy that certain of these can bring. Don't be too overwhelmed by the number of tools. After all, you can boil them down to their basic functions, i;e 1)planing with, or 2)against, the grain. I'd sincerely recommend the following : 1) low-angle block plane (Veritas), 2) no.4 1/2 bench plane ( Lie Nielson and NOTHING ELSE!), 3) low-angle bevel up mitre plane (Veritas), a medium shoulder plane (Veritas again), and maybe to finish, for your pleasure, a no. 6 or 7 shooting plane (optional)of either make. Follow up with 200, 1000, 5000 grit Japanese water stones (read up on their use beforehand). The blades supplied by both makes are finely honed to start with. That's it. Bravo, well done on 2nd job. Nice work. Keep going

Hello Chris My name is Pierre Rousseau, I am from Canada. I just now discovered your channel quite by accident...the kind of accident that I really like. About 10 seconds in to the first video, I knew I was going to like it. Not just for the projects or your skills as a woodworker, but the cinematography , you obviously have some experience in visual arts of sorts !! Being a woodworker myself, I watch a lot of woodworking videos, and I think most of them are pretty good, but your video are of a very good quality !! Thank you for making them ! I will be watching. I am certain your videos will be successful Sincerely your's Pierre Rousseau

Subscribed! One of my favorite parts of woodworking is how peaceful it can be. In your own world with your own thoughts working out a complicated piece....and then the feeling of looking at your finished piece in its own space. You nailed it!

Thanks Cabbldr. Agreed. I've talked about that a lot before. It's really not "fun" in the normal sense. It is work, but it is still enjoyable...and it is very fulfilling.

Beautiful piece of furniture, and excellent video. Suggestion, do all the sanding and break the edges before assembly. That allows you to get into all the tough corners. Also, consider applying the finish to all pieces before assemble. Just tape off the joints where glue will be applied. I've found these steps save a lot of time in the long run.

Thanks Mark. I've done that on occasion in the past. I probably won't do it on the videos though, just b/c it wouldn't be as interesting to watch. Well...unless it is absolutely necessary, then I may or may not show it. In fact, on some of the other builds (cabinets) I do sand the insides before assembly...I don't think I showed it. Can't recall though.

I don't even know how many times I've watched this. This is such a good video - it's like watching a movie about woodworking. Everything is done with care - the woodworking, the story telling, the editing, the music. Love it. Kudos!
