Error 1030 Plz explain

You can get belts on Amazon and Ebay but often these are Chinese knock offs. These belts wear a lot more quickly than the HP ones due to the grade of materials used and can cause more difficulties further down the line in a matter of a few short months. Just bear this in mind when you spend a few hours stripping/cleaning and replacing the belt for your machine (if you are doing a repair yourself) that for a want of a few pounds extra you'll get something that will last you nearer to 5 years. The belts for most printers are under £50 which in the scheme of things isn't such a large investment when you need it for your business. We reviewed belts for obsolete/unsupported machines thinking there was a chance that we could provide cost savings to customers - especially as particular models became difficult to source in the UK - but we quickly realised it wasn't worth it.

Thanks for the tip. There was allot of dirt on the encoder strip and it was generally badly worn down. I've changed the strip and she's flying again.

The problem could be the service station jamming and carriage banging into it, the trailing cable tangled up or a carriage belt issue. It might be best to organise a trained HP engineer to look at it for you to assess likely replacement parts as this is an obsolete machine and given your more remote location you might find spending the money on a replacement rather than a repair might be more cost effective. I guess HP in South Africa might be your best bet for securing a replacement printer, noting that your location may be remote enough that any new equipment is not going to be covered under the manufacturer's warranty or carepack. Hi Fernando - it could need a replacement service station, or it could be a cutter issue. Hope you get it sorted soon - but if not calling in an engineer will ensure a fast resolution.

Hello Virginia - this error code relates to a number of possible things and we can only assess accurately when we are on site. For example it might be a failing service station, carriage belt, encoder strip or trailing cable.
