I save my SNC files as fcm files in Embrilliance. I only go into canvas Workspace to ungroup a files that has 2 objects & move them closer together so they fit into a smaller space. I also change the color of the position stitch to Brother #35 which is an appliqué position stitch and can be sent from luminaire to the scan n cut directly.

So let me ask you, how do you save fcm files in Embrilliance? I've not yet been able to do that and I'm eager to know. Thanks! And thanks for the tip to save as Brother #35. I didn't know that! Sweet!

@@PowerToolsWithThread when you click the save as Becky showed, at the bottom of the window that opens it says save as svg. That line has a drop down with a number of choices when you click it. The choice immediately below svg is fcm. Click that to choose then click the save button.

Thank you for a great tutorial, love all your instructional videos and projects. Downloaded your DBJJ Christmas Tree Skirt chart, am somewhat challenged at understanding how to use it (dumb me, I guess), will you do a quick video on how you use that please? Also, I'd love to buy the exact background material you used (if available), can you point me to that please? Am very new to multi needle and want to try the simplest section of this skirt... think this is a wonderful project that I'd love to complete for my children who are 2K miles from me (sadly). Keep your wonderful tutorials coming... I always look for yours as its my connection to great company. Thanks again. Donna

Hi Becky Thank you for helping us with this ahead of time. Can you tell me how much sf101 you used and what size you made
@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
I wish I could be specific, but I made the fabric cuts different than the pattern to conserve fabric and I made the 6x10 size. I showed how I measured and cut each piece in the video. But... I had 7 yards of background fabric when I started, and I had 4.5 left over after I was finished. So, to be safe, let's say I used 3.5 yards of fabric. Half that, because I cut the SF101 in half, then I used approx 1.75 yards of SF101. If I were you, I'd get 2.5 just to be sure. You'll have extra but then can use that in other projects. Hope that helps!

I have a Brother 1000e, 10 needle. You do this tree skirt on your 1055, How do you do the threads with only 10 places for colors? Do you need to change colors somewhere along the line?
@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
I put the threads that are used in almost every block on the back thread spool row closest to center (white, black, red, green, etc.) and I use the outer front 2-3 spools on each side to do thread changes once all of the first 10 colors have been used. So let's say all 10 have been used and now I need a color 11. I typically use spool # 9 or #2 (closest to me to reach so it's easier to change). Before that color stitches, I put a Hand up on the screen so the machine stops, then I put that new color I'm going to use in a holding pattern on my table. I will line up as many more colors in order of use in the holding pattern. Whenever they will be used next, I make sure to put a hand on that spool so I can change it as I get there. I hope that makes sense. Perhaps I'll do a video to explain if I can get a moment.

Once you get all your stabilizer & batting cut, you can knock out each block in 2 - 2.5 hours. Yes, definitely pace yourself to one a day and you'll be done before Halloween. :)

I just started stitching out the designs. I also have a 10 needle and was wondering if you had to change the needle for stitching metallic thread? If you did which needles did you use?
@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
No, I didn't change the needles at all for metallics. Honestly, I'm still using the original needles in the machine. The ones that came with are HAX130EBBR #11.

My husband cut a piece of plywood and covered it for me and it sits on an IKEA Hemness dresser. I wanted the top to be big enough to press a fat quarter (18x22).

Becky, I made my first block yesterday! BTW, which 10 needle embroidery machine do you recommend that is reasonable?
@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
Congrats! That's awesome! One down, 44 to go! lol Reasonable...OK, so a 10 needle is not a 10 needle is not a 10 needle. You know I'm a Brother girl and that's because I like the Brother interface that is so user friendly, it likes my current thread stock of Isacord and Exquisite, I love the wireless capabilities of it, I love the quilting table & there are DIME Monster Snap Hoops for it. All that makes it the perfect machine for me. The Baby Lock multi-needle performs the same. I had another 7-needle and I just couldn't get the hang of it because it didn't have the Needle +/- button so I could back up a certain number of stitches or easily put in stops for applique designs. I found I rarely used it because of that so I sold it and got the Brother, which I should have gotten in the first place. Well, hubs bought the other machine without consulting me and I knew it wouldn't last long. There's a popular one that comes up in KZfaq commercials a lot that has very negative reviews on KZfaq so I really recommend doing your research. If you think you found one you might purchase, do an online search for reviews of that machine. I'd look for a floor model or a trade-in refurb from a Brother dealer if it were me.

@@PowerToolsWithThread thank you so much. I bought a Flourish ll. Wonderful machine but changing thread constantly is a pain. I’m not sure how much your machine cost, but I’m sure more than I can afford. Lol

what is the largest size hoop does one needs to make the christmas tree skirt.... I have a Viking Huskvarna Topaz 20 and hoops size 240x150 and a 200x260 but the description says a 6x10 and I'm not sure what that is.... can I make this?
@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
Your 240mm x 150mm is about a 9.5 x 6. Your 200mm by 260mm is about 7.8 x 10. You should be able to make the 6x10 (like I did) in the 200 x 260 hoop. You might find this helpful - www.rapidtables.com/convert/length/mm-to-inch.html

My software prints to size, yes. You have to do that so you know that everything will fit in the hoop.

Do you know of a way to save the "print file" to a thumb-drive. and have all blocks and color charts printed by a print shop? My printer does NOT print does not do a very good job with the print-outs. Thanks.

I just started the Nativity Tree skirt and I know you stated in this tutorial that because the fabric stitch down line is outside the batting tack down, you can't use Trimmer by George. The fabric tack down on the tutorial for the advent calendar on some of the blocks are outside the batting tack down, but you used the Trimmer by George. Could you explain this, I'm a bit confused. Thanks

When doing the blocks with applique, do you take the hoop out and iron down each fabric piece before the satin stitching?

Question - why sf 101? Getting ready to start the tree skirt and don’t see where the instructions say use SF101. I know heat n bond for the appliqué. Thanks for getting back to me
@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
The 'recommendation' to use SF101 is on page 2. It will give the foundation fabric more stability to handle the heavy satin stitching without any puckering. Feel free to use whatever works for you! :)
