The main problem with motorized sit/stand desks in an engineering office is that other engineers like to install a secret remote control and then terrorize you with random movements.

We had a pallet of those sit/stand desks get delivered by mistake at the beginning of the lockdown in 2020, contacted and told the company they had been delivered by mistake and nothing to do with us and after a few back and fourth emails never heard anything. Still have the pallet sat on our racking 🤣 Same controller as Dave has but only single motors. I guess one day we will either dump them or find a use for them lol

Something that helped me I mounted a power strip under the desk with a 9m cord, so all my wires don't have to stretch. Also, grab some long ethernet cords as well. Possibly a cable race for cable management.

Very nice table, i would love to have one, very useful and convenient for all kind of uses and jobs, i like how the metal part is built, seems pretty solid and stable, those linear actuators are pretty fast for their job, however i think someone didn't think enough about the cabling length they could just provide like 1 meter cable from each motor and get rid of the extensions...

I also have one of these desks and the measurements on their site for the swing down cable tray are wrong, and have been so for nearly two years now. Even after I informed them of it. My dealings with their support team were FAR from impressive.

That's super neat. Would certainly help when I need to be back and forth between the computer and work table. Hard to tell but could it accidentally catch the doorknob? I know your family is careful, but f you have other kids over often you may want to put a doorstop on the hinge to keep the desk from taking the knob off. May not be a bad idea just to keep the door itself from getting a few smacks.

The desk will detect that it's hit an obstacle and stop. They generally monitor the current draw from the motors and if it spikes they'll stop and back off in the opposite direction, crushing your customer's legs is bad for business.

i have a desk here of a very similar general design (* i.e.with 2 legs)... however these are not ideal for mounting a microscople onto. for the thing wobbles about 'too much'. and this is of course more tolerable at lower mags. but still... the better style for these is a more expensive aka 'premium' or otherwise 'higher load' models... that has a proper 4 legs. one under each corener of the desktop. there's only a couple of models / brands kicking about and they generally cost in excess of $700 or $1000 usd. however they should wobble very significantly less amount. which is a boon for microscope users. who want a more stable surface to work upon. highly recommended if you have the dough to pony up for one. but admittedly it is indeed quite a lot more money. and not everybody can stretch to the budget for that... a typical 2 legs desk still can work, its just more annoying / more aggravating to deal with those unwanted disturbances. causing disruptions when the view is shaken around

A few thoughts - 1800mm long? You beauty. Most standing desks are quite a bit smaller. For the actuators, I'm quite sure those are the industrial lego linear actuators with a gear reduction from a motor to a lead screw (the sort that will pop up when you google 'linear actuator'). Curious they put the duty cycle on the power supply, given that is a requirement of the actuators, not necessarily the PSU. Not too sure how/why they would fail, but if you purchase one of those actuators, they are often rated 12V and have a 1 min on/10 min off spec. Lastly, I'm interested in the use of what looks like 6-pin PCIe connectors for the actuators. Haven't seen those used for anything other than a graphics card.
@Okurka.
@Okurka. 11 ай бұрын
Those are standard Molex connectors.
@dumle29
@dumle29 11 ай бұрын
This (and lots others) are somewhat clones of LINAK solutions. They use the 6pin mini-fit jr series of connectors. IIRC there's two pins for high power, then there's a 5v and gnd, and two hall signals. The duty-cycle is the PSU, because the PSU also has the h-bridges in them, and those are what's duty-cycle limited. It's why there's a DC port. You can get a battery pack for them for a wireless setup.

Dave that desk looks crooked did you put a bubble meter on it or is the picture on the wall is that is crooked? maybe do the Malteser test Anyway apart from being a desk that would make a perfect Big screen Tv table imagine putting a sofa in that office and then raising the desk up for Big Tv moments you can get large computer monitors now like 31.9" Monitors plenty big for a small room like that.
